    LOL I just picked up a Solina B316 for parts to fix my mates Solina String Ensemble.
    Ironically it has the same keys as well as several other parts that are the same.
    I played it to make sure everything worked then gutted it.( in one piece without unwiring anything)
    But it then occured to me after I repair my mate's string ensemble there's enough parts here to build myself one.( and yes all the parts you need are in there you just need to reconfigure a few things ( well quite a few actually).
    As there doesn't appear to be any service manuals online I'm going to log everything asI strip it so I know how to put everything back together. I learnt from that mistake when I stripped a Siel 730 that also has a Solina sounding string section( although more like and ARP omni) and didn't note how it came to pieces so althoughI have all the parts I've never done anything with it.

    Organs are awesome, you are a very lucky chap to have a wife who will buy you these things. Its great to see some of these old instruments get some love. So often people leave then in a shed to deteriorate not thinking that people would actually want such things.

      James Chip Thanks, James. I could not have said it any better!! Though she only reserved it for me, she didn't buy it - I paid the full price of 7 dolars myself ;D But you're right - she did not have to have told me about it - I really feel loved :')

      I think my fiancee would have paniced and asked them to hide it incase i walked past and bought it (not that she is against me having an organ, its just we have limited space), at 7 coins for all that its a bargain. Bring on the organ funk!

    What a great wife you have! It's always nice to have something like that at home. When I was a kid I learned playing keys with some crummy Technics home organ. This Solina sounds much cooler. Looking forward to hear more of this organ in your future music - inlcuding foot pedals!

      Shimanski Beats 8D Thanks. You can make even the most badass heavy metal music sound cheasy on a home organ :) Destroy a classic like Enter Sandman or Space Truckin' ;) I believe that evry instrument can sound great if it's used in the right context ..I just hope I can use it right, then :)

      Arrayzable Oh, can I just take back my own comment mentioning Space Truckin' - Jon Lord is actually nailing everything organ-related :D

      Arrayzable I just did a quick search for home organ covers of Enter Sandman and didn'T find anything on the first few result pages. So that's your chance!

    Awesome video and awesome bit of kit, cool to hear you, and a great commentary also, it's nice to see these 'older 'synths' are being given a second chance by you and Volca Rock, nice little play out track too, hope we are going to see this get used on one of your usual tracks :)

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  9 років тому +1

      Micro Banshee Thanks a lot, my friend! I have had two other organs some years ago. I had a small (two manuals) one back in the late nineties. I used to send the signal through my KORG A5 bass pedal and back to create a feedback loop and had a lot of fun with delay effects ;D I will definitely use it for something - I actually find it capable of sounding very soothing and nice! Great for pads and a little bit of lead.

    Had one of these back in the early eighties..thankyou for the vid brings back many memories...I recall someone sprayed the switches with something on mine and the plastic switch buttons cracked soon after..still worked though!..surprisingly good sound for entry an entry level.

    Cool!! All the resistors on the board @ 7m10s look like woven design. In amazing condition for a ~40 year old piece of gear.

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  9 років тому

      KWHCoaster Thanks. I'm pretty amazed by it's condition too. There are still contacts that need cleaning, but that ain't a big problem. I still haven't figured out what the module with the 'wowen' resistors does, besides looking pretty :) I downloaded a service manual for the Solina String Ensemble and many of the modules, like the control circuits and the divider circuits for the keybeds are identical. So I hope to be able to find out what the different parts do.

    That is beautiful! I don't think my wife would let me bring something like that into the house though. That reverb tank would be fun to run drums through. Sexy piece at the end too!

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  9 років тому +1

      MrFricoco Thanks and thanks! I have a smaller reverb tank that I salvaged from an old organ years ago. I just never managed to make it work - it worked when I pulled it out, but I can't figure out how to use it in another project. It would be cool with the MS-20 mini.
      I was thinking of circuit bending this organ - not destroy it, just make some cool mods. If everything fails I trust you wil provide some schematics for a filter that I can add instead! 8D

      Arrayzable does the organ have a 1/4 inch output?

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  9 років тому +1

      MrFricoco Yes it does. One for headphones, one for output and one for audio in, which goes through the reverb tank :)

    whata wonderful story about a wonderful wife and an ugly organ ;) haha, really enjod listening to you talking, sounds like you have practice in talking in english!
    The organ looks and sounds amazing, with lots of cheesy 70ies porn vibes :))) also string with ensemle FX is great,. cool that although entry level there is spring reverb!
    your organ version of upcoming track sound beautiful. great that i am no longr the only one with oldschool organs :))) i am really looking forward for more tracks with this thing. I can imagine another space track with the brute .
    thanks for mention me and my girlfriend in the vid :-)

      +VolcaRock Hi there VolcaRock! Thanks for the comment. It's a great piece of gear. I don't have so much time for music at the moment, so I'm not shooting out videos so often, and I'm still working on this track. The Organ won't be used for this one, but surely for something else in the future. The organ is not placed in the same room as my other synths, but your right, the brute would be easy to move. I'm actually also working a little on a new SPACE track, but just to let you know how slow I'm proceeding it's named Ep.7 on my Electribe, and the series has reached Ep.11 :)

      so my home organ is also in a separate room in the cellar. glad that i have the octatrack to record loops, i guess you could also do something similar with your korg sampler. anyway, i am looking firward to new tracks from you :)

    how loud can it go? can it be played in a rock band?

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  2 роки тому

      It can play very loud, but you can easily encounter both bassist and gutarist who can and will play louder.. It has an output, so you can use an amplifier and play even louder.

    Does anyone know the eminent solina c112 model? Is it worth 200 Bucks?

    • @sabotage11111
      @sabotage11111 8 років тому

      It is similar to This model

    • @ArrayzableMusic
      @ArrayzableMusic  8 років тому

      +sabotage11111 I don't know it, but Eminent organs of that time period had model numbers that refered to their rank in their model series. 'A' was entry level 'U' was the organ from which the famous ARP/Eminent Solina String Ensemble derived. So C112 will probably be better equipped than my B106. 200 bucks is maybe a little too much, but as I said; I don't know the C112. I gave 8 bucks for mine :) You gotta ask yourself; is it worth it to you - and not think to much about if you can sell it at the same price again - but hey, you never know!
