Eddie Garland and his friends Andy Blakeney, Mike De Lay, Albany Bigard and others were "instrumental" in teaching me to play this music in the late 60's and early 70's. What gentlemen! and how do I miss them. Alton was the only one of the bunch who had a chip on his shoulder, but I never found out why.
Ed Garland! Amazing to see him having fun with his bass! 2 choruses of his soloing is a great study of historic jazz playing! Fabulous! throw in Louis Nelson & you've got a party!
Blakeney really turning loose. What a trumpeter! Nelson playing his standard solo. Great piano and bass. So sad, that Konrad Klingelfuss is no longer on this earth. He uploaded so many gems.
great soli by all concerned, including underated Andrew Blakeney (it seems some people never forgot him his emigration to California). love Ed Garland, and Brit Barry Martin is adequate, and we owe him congratulations for creating this band.
This is a wonderful video I have revisited many times for the past fifteen years. Old Style Jazz is the best!
It doesn't get any better !
