They kick off by looking at the contenders for the tournament. For Merse, it's down to two teams - England and France. But is he backing the Three Lions to bring it home? The guys pick their starting elevens for England's opener against Serbia - Merse is not having Jeff's team at all. They discuss a theory about why Gareth Southgate isn't more adventurous and Merse reveals the one time he saw the England boss misbehave, and they pick their greatest ever Euros moments.

I'm feeling Portugal as the winner. Then France/England and maybe Germany as the home nation as the rest top 4.

Agree with Merson. Wharton alongside Rice. Both can tackle and both can pass.
Yeh I like Wharton. I like the balance he brings to a midfield being Left Footed, along with his calmness and his passing range. Reminds me of Xhaka a bit, but he's much more mobile. It's a big step up for him, but when is the right time ?! You gotta play these Players. Yeh, him alongside Rice.

I would play Palmer as striker rather than Heskey.
With England weak defense you need Bellingham playing in 10 role because he has the ability of tracking back quickly and his defensive ability is mucj better than the other number 10. So with Bellingham help i think England defense will be a bit safer.

England under Southgate have beaten 3 of those 5 teams: Croatia twice, Spain away in the nations league & Germany at the last Euros . Also beat Portugal the last time they played them

@ulfanfinneriksen4643 I just don't like Bellingham at LCM. The thing is, you can't play Bellingham anywhere but the 10 or up top, because anywhere else on the pitch, he's useless. I'd rather see Wharton at DM and Rice at the LCM (as we've seen him play there at times and well for The Arsenal), and Foden at RCM (creating). But where do you play Jude ?! I'd start Rice, Wharton and Foden but Southgate will start Jude and drop Foden. Or maybe he starts al 3 and Wharton's on the bench.

I am baffled why the English media boys see England as being capable of winning this, never mind actually doing it. Gareth Southgate's tactical incompetence and conservatism, coupled with the weak defense would make less biased people think differently.
So being conservative is a problem when England have a weak defence? Think about what you've just said. It makes sense to be conservative if you're defence isn't great. Stick to your day job

Completely agree. I just hope we can watch some great attacking play where we actually have a go and take some risks for once and play to our strengths. I’m really tired of hearing how great we are then when it comes to the tournament we pass the ball sideways and backwards for 90 minutes scraping through matches before going out 1 nil late on to a team we should probably be beating. Really hope I’m wrong cause I’ve seen this movie too many times
