What do you guys think of the new format? I’m thinking of revisiting some old Basics recipes, both to try out the new style, and because the techniques have changed so much in the past 6 years.
I'm all for revisions of older recipes, you get better in the kitchen, you understand how certain things work, why not release a video to reflect as much? I also love kitchen audio, I love your style of chill music over the video, but yeah, do like me some Kitchen ASMR.
I definitely enjoyed this take on your content, don’t get me wrong I love your normal stuff. But I think you can definitely work this in to your basics series.
Maybe should be its whole own series! Babish: Revisted. For this calming aesthetic where you re-do recipes from your past with your new skills and techniques. Then you could still have the best of both world with traditional Basics and Binging. Because I do love your upbeat energy in all your videos.
I do like this format. But I also like the more chaotic format when I see you showing stuff going wrong or you are just really animated when you are cooking. I think both formats are worth keeping in the future depending on how you are feeling in each individual video
Chaos is great for botched episodes. The usual quick-but-informative pace works great for binging. And I think this pace is perfect for the genuine, great recipes shown in the Basics series
The change to kitchen audio is nice but honestly I'd rather it be an occasional thing and not have to choose one format over the other. I enjoy them both and appreciate the variety the editors and Andy try to introduce to keep things feeling fresh.
I like the old voiceover but the kitchen sound’s definitely add something to the video! Love the balance, the sounds don’t overpower or take away from the experience!
@@jlshel42 Yes, and I hate it. I have misophonia and noises cause me to have involuntary reactions, such as gagging and scratching my fingers. This is one of the ONLY cooking channels that is entertaining and doesn't rely on ASMR fanatics. If he starts doing this, I'll no longer have a cooking channel to watch that's disability-friendly. ASMR wackos already have a billion ASMR cooking channels to choose from... why can't we have normal Babish?
This calmer format combined with the natural kitchen sounds instantly made me relax. However, I wouldn't want to miss the more chaotic and wild episodes either!
The honesty and realism of the mistakes and outtakes made me think I could do what you do. A B-roll like josh Wiseman isn't plagiarism it's just what it is. Bring back Kendall
Yep, muffins from scratch is a little overboard; however what has to be made from scratch is the Hollandaise sauce. All the cafes in my region of Australia used jarred Hollandaise, and have grossly bland Eggs Benedict as a result. Basically wrote off as a menu option until having it at a small cafe in California where it was recommended, it was amazing. Back In Straya make it at home once every few months and it's amazing home made too. Once you get the feel to avoid curdles, Hollandaise isn't intimidating to make, nailed it on the second go.
I love that, with multiple books, 10 million subscribers and so many accomplishments, Andrew still gets excited at something so simple as an unbroken and well seasoned hollandaise. Hasn't lost his love for the simple things. I respect that so much. Thanks, Babish!
The live audio was way more relaxing than I thought it would be, and actually calmed me down from a really rough day. I hope we can see more content like this in the future- it was really lovely!
This format sounds like you're in an old friend's kitchen, watching them prepare some delicious breakfast. It feels like a safe space. I genuinely felt peaceful when watching this
That's a sweet sentiment, but for those of us with misophonia, it's like watching your only accessible cooking channel die right before your eyes. I'm honestly a little disappointed that he's chasing ASMR viewers now.
@@nomoretwitterhandles i totally get where you're coming from, i have misophonia myself (for eating sounds & rubbing on certain textures) and i always skip the "tasting" part of a cooking video for that reason. i doubt they'll do every bwb video like this! a little bit for everybody :)
Honestly, this updated format is absolutely gorgeous. The whole thing is as informative as your videos always are, but this time with added calmness that makes the video extremely relaxing to watch. I figure it's the change in bgm as well as the addition of regular prep and cooking sounds. 100% happy to see more Basics structured like this.
It's not bad by any means. I think there's room for this sort of video and I'd be happy to see more of it, especially as you fine tune it, but I personally wouldn't want this style to replace the regular one. Your upbeat, snappy, witty delivery is a big part of the enjoyment of your content for me. I feel like I could put this on loop before bed to help me fall asleep, particularly with that mellow background music.
I believe you struck the balance between kitchen sounds/voiceover perfectly hence why the new format elevates the experience. As long as you keep this balance the same, keep the same format!
I don’t usually comment on YT videos, but I REALLY liked this format. It was calm, not rushed-feeling, a little ASMR as well and more personable. I would love to see more videos like this.
This new format is lovely - perfect balance of the cooking sounds from the kitchen, and the calming voice over. I just got home from work, and I wasn't expecting it - it was a great treat! I would love to see more episodes like this
This new format is an absolute breath of fresh air! The slower pace and natural kitchen ambience somehow makes everything feel a bit more genuine and really adds an air of authenticity that often feels missing from the internet these days.
This is an amazing new format! I love the slower pace as it helps to understand exactly what youre doing before moving on to the next step. Thanks for revisiting recipies too it really helps out.
I really enjoy this format, I'd be all for revisiting some basics this way! I do think a quick and snappy format as you have done in the past does have its place. I would love to see a variety of both styles depending on the subject matter, but either way, more of this please.
The pacing of your voice actually makes it much easier to follow along. The sound enabled makes me even hungrier for the food you’re making. And the music is soothing enough to simply listen to in the background. Yes, this is much better than the past format and I didn’t even realize that until after watching this!
For hollandaise, I feel like you can't beat Kenji's immersion blender technique, but this was a fantastic episode and I'd LOVE more like it. Might also be one of my favorite breakfasts ever and now I want to try my hand at English muffins!!
I found this experimental format to be perfect for basics. It gives a more connected vibe to the video, and I feel like I'm in your kitchen learning firsthand. Love it. idk if I would apply it to Binging, not that it would be bad, but it is perfect for Basics.
I absolutely love this format. So cozy, relaxing, and informative! the cleaning of the countertop at the end was the perfect touch. I also love the classic Babish style, so imo I'd love to see the Basics episodes in this format and all the others the way you've been making them. Either way, I'm gonna consume my much needed BCU content.
I actually really like this new format. Having music playing in the background with mostly voice-overs and visuals is nice, but I also thoroughly enjoy kitchen noises
I love the new format. After watching it, you can play it on the background while you work or relax for a somewhat comforting experience. Your voice over and the sounds of the kitchen mix really well.
Love the new format. Variety is the spice of life, so even if some videos are like classic Babish but others take this more chilled vibe, I'm here for it. Keep up the great work everyone! Love the channel
It is not perfect. I actually do have misophonia and noises make me want to rip my fingernails off. It makes me nauseous and disgusted. Please do not pitch in with your "but actually", because it makes it seem like the rest of us are okay with it. Babish is literally one of the only entertaining cooking channels out there that doesn't rely on ASMR for views, which is exactly why I gravitated towards this channel many years ago after ASMR wackos starting taking over every cooking channel out there. The handful of other cooking channels that don't do ASMR usually don't make content that I want to see; after all, Babish recreates really fun dishes from films and movies and tv shows--something most cooking channels do not. The last thing I want is for my only accessible cooking content to be ripped away from me because people lack an attention span. ASMR in non-ASMR videos is the equivalent of jingling keys in front of a baby's face in order to get their attention... and it will certainly lose mine.
I love this new format. Sometimes, cooking be hectic, so it’s a breath of fresh air to slow it down a bit. And BTW, eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. I’ll be making it soon, Great job as always!
I definitely enjoy this format as both calming and educational. Sometimes the breathlessly active cooking videos can be a bit intense. And eggs Benedict are my favorite breakfast!
I personally like your normal pacing as it feels more homely than info-grafic, though the kitchen sounds and occasional soft moments would be cool to see be incorporated
I LOVE the new format, the kitchen sounds are great and also the more chill overall pacing! How well do those muffins freeze after frying? And now I am hungry...
I love that you are willing to try new things and change up your "formula". I really enjoyed the mix of "live" sounds and the voiceover. Would love to see it more often.
I like it quite a bit! It does seem slow, but forces you to slow down yourself, listen, soak it in, and relax a touch! Keep doing what you’re doing banish, and thank you for the lovely work you do!
I really like this format! I'm not a big ASMR guy myself, but I feel like it gives off that kinda feeling. A steady, consistent, and calm tone, with background noise that isn't sharp or loud.
