I just went through my makeup and brushes, giving the new stuff to my daughter in law. Clothes are the next thing, the hardest things to get rid of are the clothes I might need in the future, which I hardly ever wear and they are in great shape. I’m 67 and I figure if I haven’t worn them I should give them away. I can always buy something for a special occasion. I need to pare down since I’m retired, already got rid of my nurses uniforms . I have a hard time getting rid of makeup too but if it’s opened I’m tossing it. Being more mindful of what I purchase in the future.
Great motivation! The hardest thing to declutter used to be sentimental clothes for me. Now I keep those separate from the clothes I actually wear! It's much easier for me to find something to wear now.
That was a great decluttering video!! Very motivating and real. It has inspired me to take a closer look at my makeup and skin care products. Because they don't have actual dates, I lose track of how long ago I bought them. But I know some have expired now so it is time to get real. Thanks for bringing us along while you decluttered, Kay! I am loving your Vlogtober series!!!
alot of beauty products have a month length to use til expired not a date and if you know when you bought the item, that should tell you if you should keep it.
Hi! I used to help others organize their spaces and LOVED IT, now I try to get my husband "on board". I have to say that he is the hardest thing to organize! I regularly go thru my spaces and get rid of old or unloved things. My latest area was jewelry. Love what you do.
Shoes are the hardest for me to declutter! My feet haven’t grown since high school so I tend to keep worn out shoes just because they still fit. Now that I’m pregnant, I’ve gotten a lot better at being realistic with myself and decluttering items that i was previously holding onto despite knowing I would never use them again
the sock drawer is always the messiest (i finaly ddeclutter it today!) but the hardest is the pajama/lounge wear. i never want to get rid of my comfy stuff!
My husband and I just did this yesterday! Now I’ve got to get everything out, and wanting to reorganize & consolidate. I, too, have a hard time with the pjs & loungewear and I still have way more than I need. for my husband it’s old concert tshirts. But he did a really good job. Better than me with my pjs 😅
You are so good at decluttering. I have donated a lot of clothes, but still have packed closets (1 bedroom aot). I have a hard time letting go of clothes and shoes 👞 I don't wear.
On the sock thing, if you bulk buy socks, especially " men's socks" they are identical so they are easy to match, and as one gets lost, socks develop holes or lose the elastic bits, you can chuck one at a time, bc the next one that wears out you will be back to even again. Less waste bc you dont have to mess with pairs.
Whew....I have a huge wooden wardrobe in my BR. I would LOVE to see it gone. My closets are itty-bitty, and the rods go from front to back and are only 2 feet long. Spring 2023 project.
I also have issues letting go of socks buy once they have holes I just chuck them now waiting for the weather to get warmer and I will move things around to make summer more easily accessible shelf wise
yay a solid declutter video! way to go! a couple ideas to share! first when you are getting donations together gather them in something you can leave there then you dont have to transfer everything out of a keep item at the last minute. this is a great time for trash bags, cardboard boxes, recy shipping envelopes, decluttered organizing items that you dont need anymore and or decluttered totes, bags or luggage items. this saves a step at the end and anything we can do to make the declutter easier might make it more likely that the items leave your home. second from watching you work on the pajama drawer. of course its fine that you found 2 baskets for that space but one would suffice! just put it in the middle and then the spaces on each side are also made smaller and more manageable...and also adjustable so you can slide the basket over...tiny stuff on one side and bulky stuff on the other o make the three areas roughly equal...whatever suits.
i also want to note how useful it is to see a routine maintenance declutter. it needs to be done but you have had a method in place and its not overly emotional dramatic rescue mission. this is goals. not perfection....upkeep.
❤you have given me permission to toss those makeup items that live perpetually in my drawer! I don’t know why I save them! Also I will be reaching into the stash of hair products that are ooold! Most were gifted to me, and were old then. As for my clothes, I’m trying to get it down to 333, I’m at 43 plus some cardigans…. Work in progress. Thank you for your inspiration. I’ve never used eyelashes, & wondered why everybody else’s look so good, and mine look so wimpy…… for another day….. 😊
Made me laugh today. Loved your video: Clover playing and seeing you out with your husband enjoying the day. And yes, I'm with you people need to chill!
My hardest items to declutter are my winter accessories because I am cold often and like variety. However winter accessories tend to be bulky and I haven't found the right organizing method yet.
Everything looks great!! I really need to figure out what I want to do with my makeup because I MOSTLY do it at my desk (which as you know is a mess and needs a ton of work) and sometimes do it at work, so right now it's in a portable organizer thing but I'm outgrowing it. I'd like to have mine set up all nice like yours but that isn't portable when I need it to be. sigh. Our closet also needs some work, I decluttered recently, but it's gotten messy with my fiancee getting some more clothes and us not having enough closet space :/ I've already decided that my desk is getting worked on this week, so closet may be next week....
Looks good! I dont know how I have so many comfy lounge clothes lol. I would put house slippers in the bottom basket if you have any. The hardest thing for me to declutter is long sleeve shirts because I live in Texas so I'm tired of if its freezing I'm not prepared. The dollar stores also have some very cute socks at a good price and good quality.
this was so satisfying, I really need to do my closet so badly! I could never get my makeup down to that small amount though now that I am currently a makeup-addict :D but I admire your vanity area so much:)
Hardest thing for me to declutter…probably fantasy self stuff…cute, still fits, but things that I have nowhere to wear. I declutter at the change of seasons, which in Florida only happens once a year, when the weather finally gets a little bit cold. That will be mid December so I’ll try again this year.
The hardest thing for me is getting my partner to declutter, he expands while I decrease. He has at least 3/4 of the closet. He lost around 45ish lbs, but still holds on to the larger items and buys clothes that fit. 25 pairs of shoes REALLY?🤦🏾♂
Hardest things to declutter are the things I bought online but didn’t fit and I can’t send back. Hoping to sell the most expensive ones but never get around to listing them.
Your videos are so motivating but at the minute as I can't walk without crutches or a frame I get so frustrated!! I want to go organise now! 🤣 I've just cleaned the kitchen as it's at a reasonable height! 🤣
Hardest part for me is having low spoons so pulling everything out and doing it all in one day isn't so much an option. At the moment I am doing the hanging clothes. Next will be the above shelf, then the floor. I have a plan at least!
The hardest thing for me to declutter is old family pictures. I've had 2 family members pass away & I've inherited their pictures. I'm putting them all in old suitcases because I don't know what to do with them.
I regret things like not being careful when I fell down the stairs a few years ago. Being regretful of money spent doesn’t really do anything except make you feel bad and stops you from getting rid of anything ever. It’s gone and I have to move on and be forgiving of myself. And I try not to be the quantity police with individuals when I’m working with them as well. Quality of life and your relationship with individual items is the factor in determining how many of a particular category of items is too many to manage.
@@TheOrganizedSoprano well said! Those items served their purpose and shouldn't be kept around to clutter your space, and steal your peace, because of misplaced regret or guilt. I have adopted your mindset and it's much easier to let things go.
Darn tough wool socks, an investment but I've gotten replacements many times because they're guaranteed for life, they don't smell/resist bacterial growth and they wick away moisture so you don't get blisters 🫶
Thank you for showing the dust under the bureau, I was starting to think I was the only one with hidden colonies of dust bunnies.

Love the reality of this project Kay! And I decluttered my closet for the season while watching, thanks for the inspiration. 😃

All clothes but I’m getting better at it thanks 😊 to you 😊
I’m just glad I’m not the only one that gets emotionally attached to old socks 😅 I’ve even photographed some in the past before I got rid of them!

I cleaned out my closet yesterday after procrastinating for a month! Not gonna lie, I’m feeling proud. 🎉🕺🤩
I love your closet, its the perfect size!
Moving my cosy socks to be with my PJs and loungers as I watch you. Good idea, rather than having them with the rest of my socks. ☺️
I’ll take your Rocky Rose Essie polish…one of my favorite colors!💅🏻

aw that cute graphic on the tank.. maybe make it into a pillow for your office?

and I hope you're not getting rid of stuff cause people think you should! sorry just commented on the other video.. nuff said about that! xo

My Lucy and Storiarts scarves. I have never worn them but you will have to pry them out of my cold dead hands.

They get away so easily!
They always make me think of the quote "stick! Stick! You hairy little monster!" From Jodi foster in the original freaky Friday

Absolutely clothes. I don't like admitting when something doesn't suit/fit and the money has been wasted (even if it was wasted 5 years ago!)
I have a stepin closet. Need best drawer setup for maximum usefulness. Suggestions?
Can you elaborate on the problem you're trying to solve?
@@TheOrganizedSoprano How to best organize this space. Single hang? Double? Where to have shelf space? Also it is an open closet (no doors).

I don't, thank you for the suggestion!

Where are your dresses and skirts? You had a bunch of nice ones.
My skirts are with my tee shirts but I moved the dresses to my office closet. I made 2’ of long hang space in there
Don’t you wish you had the money you spent on all the makeup you threw away? You still have a ton of makeup.
