    I'm just a hobby photographer and have had Cokin & Lee square filters for a long time and only use them sparingly as I find them a bit of a palaver to mount and have knocked them off when the camera is hanging on my shoulder strap, so always preferred screw type. I have been using K&F screw type and can vouch for them being reasonably priced and just as good much as any other expensive brands in use. Lovely images too by the way, looks a very beautiful area.

      Thanks again for watching Victor. The screw type ones are great as well yeah, I have a couple and had great results with them. All the best Gary 😁👍👍

    Skint! Story of my life. Thank you for the review I am currently looking for filters as I have jumped to a new system and have been leaning toward a magnetic system.

    Hi Gary, thanks for the review. I bought the set for a holiday on Arran in November and really enjoyed using them. I would say to be careful how tyou move your camera on rocky shore lines. I was sitting on top of an outcrop of huge boulders on an Arrran beach and accidentally touched the edge of the CP filter on the top of a boulder and away it went! Plink, plink, plink. Down it went into the inaccesible basement below several hunfted tons of granite. I searched but the way it had bounced took it back towards the bottom of the stack. Gone forever! I have replaced it with the screw on version, the magnetic one being far too costly on it's own. A good set though. :)

    Pretty tempted, found myself only ever using ND and CPL filters. Very rare I'll even consider a grad.
    The only downside is vignetting on wider lenses so I'd advise getting the widest possible filter size and step down rings to match your lenses, this in theory should stop or reduce the vignetting at wider focal lengths.
    Manfrotto have the Xume system that lets you adapt any circular filter to magnetic.
    UPDATE: So after looking at their site it appearing you can't buy the lens adapter ring by themselves! I have more than one lens. What happens if you replace a lens, you need to buy a whole new kit.

    • @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer
      @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Mark. Never tried the Xume system so will take a look at that. The next video is hands on with the NISI system, H&Y magnetic system and K&F variable as I've had them for a good wee while now. 😁👍👍

    I'm using the KASE Magnetic circuit filter as well. the have a adjustment ring you get only the 82 and can use it for your 82 kens or smaller that what I do.

    Thanks for this, thinking of getting these as I’m on a tight budget and I need a new 10 stop ND anyway. Bet it’s so much quicker and easier than unscrewing a normal screw on ND too?

    Great Vlog, very informative, I’ve just found you while looking for these filters, the only thing I’m struggling with is finding out if they do magnetic stepper rings, so if I buy the 72mm one and use it on my other lenses

    • @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer
      @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer  2 роки тому +1

      Glad it was helpful! Unfortunately they don't do them, you have to buy separate ones.👍

  • @martineudall
    @martineudall 3 роки тому +1

    Gary it is also possible to get the magnets filter holder and adapter separately if you already have filters. I have used them for a couple of year and one drawback I found with cpl is when turning the polariser the magnetic filter holder went round as well.. Did you find this or have they upgraded the magnetic hold do you know.. They are a useful system for a quick change though. Also does your lens cap fit ok with the magnetic adapters on. Thanks, like the look of Scottish hills in winter but snow here in Leicestershire improved the landscape last week

    • @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer
      @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer  3 роки тому

      Hi Martin, yes the cpl turns independently of the magnetic adapter but as for separate items I think they only come as complete kits for now. Lens cap fits on OK but I normally remove the magnetic holder anyway but no need to. Glad to hear you got snow. We had none around the area I stay. 20 miles down the road though there was. Thanks for watching😁👍👍

    Thanks for the review Gary - thinking of getting a magnetic filter system myself. It looks like they do the full kit for various lens filter sizes......I have 3 different lens sizes.....but do you have to buy a full kit for each lens? Do they do individual step rings? Would work out qute expensive if I had to buy a separate kit for each lens and in the process triplicate the same filters. Finally is the 10 stop the only ND available? Apart from this they look really good

    Hi Gary: Thanks for sharing your perspective on this filter system. I am also a Lee Filter system user and I am tried of faffing around with the filter holder. I am considering the Kase Filter Magnetic system. Do you have any experience or thoughts on this system? Thanks, Keith

  • @JasonLorette
    @JasonLorette 2 роки тому +1

    What if you have multiple lenses with different filter sizes, how do you adapt the magnetic system to that? ie; I have 62, 67, 72 and 77 lenses...do I need a separate kit for them all? (Really new to filters)

    • @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer
      @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching Jason. With this system there is no option of step up rings (adapters)so you would have to buy separate systems. However other types of systems to be able to do this. There's another video on the channel on other filters which allow use of step up rings.😁👍👍

    • @sue.Hoo123
      @sue.Hoo123 2 роки тому +1

      @@JasonLorette if you buy the magnetic system for your biggest lens, then you can use step rings for the smaller ones. You just need to remember in your case only the 77mm will be magnetic, but if a step down ring on a smaller lens will still work ok

    This filter system seems really nice and practical. My only "concern" is that the ND1000 seems to be a 3-stops filter and I want a 10-stop filter. I looked into the links that you provided but it seems that the 10-stops filter is not available. In fact, it is very hard to find out how many stops of light the different filters provide. Any further comments or advice, Gary? Thank you!

      Hi Jorge and thanks again for watching. I'll ask once the Chinese New Year holiday is over and get back to you. I do know that the screw in nd1000 are 10stop so it also might be nice to make a comparison to see the difference as I have one for my other lens. I'll post a reply once I know. Thanks again Gary😁👍👍

      @@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer Gary, I asked my question through Amazon.com (USA); the ND1000 is in fact a 10-stop filter! So, I have placed my order through them. Hey Gary, did you see significant vignetting with multiple filters on your 14-30?

    • @e1evn1ee
      @e1evn1ee 3 роки тому

      Coz I see there's a review of the Kase 82mm magnetic filter that more than 1 filter stack will cause vignetting and adapting from 95mm can hold it up to 2 filter stack at 14mm

    • @GaryMcIntyrePhotographer
