Where was this kit 30 or 40 years ago, when I had my 20/20 vision, and my hands didn't shake. Great looking model, Andy. Thanks for sharing. People will really appreciate that model.
Hi Andy! This Border 1:35 scale FW-190A6 really looks interesting- Question- The Canopy Clear plastic did NOT LOOK CLEAR-? It looked cloudy- and usually you comment on Clear Parts- nothing said on this- I froze the video after watching it all- and the canopy Does Look Cloudy- can you comment on this Please Andy? Would love to see this built before I buy it- and am surprised that with the effort Border put forth here- that no canopy masking is included? Cheers from Detroit Andy and To All Reading This Post-
I noticed the same thing. This example looks like a pre production kit, hopefully it will be ok in the final release. I already preordered mine, according to the retailer the sale will start in mid/late may so I expect it to arrive in a month. I'll report back after I checked it out.
I always wondered why vehicles were 1/35 and aircraft were 1/32...it would make sense to me to have them in the same scale for diorama and accessory purposes.
@@joeshmoe9978 Absolutely. Monogram had that fantastic Armor Series back in the 70s and 80s. All 1/32nd. Panzerspähwagen was my favorite. Picked one up on EB recently... still sealed up with all that beautiful 1970s air still inside! 😅
The IV./Sturm option for Moritz, II./JG-300 option for Lixfeldt, and the Stab./JG-300 option for Dahl are all wrong for this kit. They were all Fw190A-8's. As an aircraft builder I have no use for 1/35th scale anyway, but for the benefit of others I think it should be noted that only the I./JG1 Schott and III./JG11 Hackl options are appropriate for the A-6. It's not like the aftermarket decal industry is going to ride to the rescue in this scale, either.
At least they were smart enough to release 1:35 scale airplane kits. That was all I needed to get back into airplane building. Waiting for a Spitfire and Hurricane.
After pulling out my copy of Alicante Wings: Airframe and Miniature No.7 FW190A-G. This Might be a A-8 kit Not a A-6. 4:40 bit hard to spot but the Cowling hatch Part C1 has the clasps which would be correct for the A-8 (A-6 has these on the top engine cover not these fold down ones. This was changed on the A-7’s onwards). EDIT: Ok, so has the forward side engine access hatches with latches that would be correct for an A-8 model. But also the A-6 style MG tunnel deck with those same Latches. So, you would need to fill/delete the relevant latches, depending on if your doing an Fw 190 A-6 or A-8 But at 5:08 where would be correct for a A-8 to have the port side MW50 tank filler hatch between the radio access cover and the sprue gate there is almost a soft shadow in the part that is the correct place, size and shape for it. But looks as though was ‘filled in’. Other that a whip aerial for the FuG 127Y from under the left (port) wing Part 9 on the wing sprue, and any other MW50 injection parts for the cockpit/engine there are no other External differences of the A6 & A8. And of the above the Cowl clasp/clamps would be the hardest to change Also it appears to be totally lacking the Mid upper wing rectangular bulges for the Mid wing MG151/20 cannon. Conclusion: If this was built based on a single Museum Airframe, then it’s cut and shut of different airframes. Some A-6/A-8 and the wings off an F series.
Very nice review Andy Looks a beautiful kit, why don`t manufacturers standardize scales? 1/72, 1/48, 1/35, 1/32. 1/24? If armour is popular in 1/35 this makes more sense to have aircraft the same? Just a rant LOL
Really was looking forwards to this kit but, Damb! These CLEAR parts 😂 Also the decals and schemes, as others have pointed out. Are incorrect or just plain fiction for this version of the FW190A. Some might also be just too large (JG300 Boars head, and what ever that white target cross is - never seen any photo of that before) After pulling out my copy of Alicante Wings: Airframe and Miniature No.7 FW190A-G. just got mine From HLJ and the kit has the same issue as the ME-109 G-6 the Revi gun sight lens are made of grey plastic. and the instruction are missing how to build the landing Gear in the down position.
Looks great - call me old school but planes are better in 1/32 and build the old 1-32 armor when I find it but of course 1/35 armor tho thinking 1/16 is gonna be my new fav
These devious Chinese are going to pull me back into airplane models.. First a Stuka G, then an Me109, and NOW a Fw190..all in 1/35.. oh my sweaty hands..
This looks like one heck of a model. This is the first time I've ever seen the wing's main spar, then again I've been watching more vids of armor vehicles. Even the decals look awesome. How about building and making a vid on this baby. Your expertise would do it justice, adios
Looked amazing Andy until you got to the clear parts: Canopy looked really foggy? Great vid. 👍🏻 Also WHY does Border not show colour call outs on the parts? Frustrating.
Oh oh those not so clear parts are looking ummm .. not to clear !! And as per a previous comment Andy sure did skip by that worrying pie ce to an otherwise great looking kit. One shouldn't have to dip them in Kleer or Deluxe Looks Like Glass when it's such a modern tooling.
I do like the Tamiya scale segregation-busting (since Tamiya basically forced 1/35th on us when Italeri stepped in line in 1972, killing 1/32 armor and 1/48 armor in one stroke, which I don't really blame Italeri for). Sure Tamiya half-heartedly restarted 1/48 about 30 years late, with imaginary entry-level quality. At least here this 1/35th FW-190A-6 is not some imaginary entry-level quality... However note the canopy squeezed when open, so it is only accurate in the closed position. (Eduard in 1/48 showed how it should be done)
That would be Eduard I imagine... They re-tooled the whole thing without engine in 2017, and it is now easier and far more accurate, but still loose in the landing gear angle dept. I adapted a Hasegawa cowling to both new tools I made, since the new Eduard is still a small bit off in front.
The 2nd doesn't specify what type of firearm we can and can't have. I feel for your loss. I've lost 2 children at a young age. But it's not the gun that's killing its the people. No strict punishments for murders.
For those who don’t know Border is a company formed by the engineers and mold makers from Wingnuts! That’s why the kits are so good!

Exactly . At 68, with some health issues, I take some shortcuts in my model building and that's OK with me.

You can blame that on Tamiya. Monogram was doing 1/32 armor, but Tamiya started doing 1/35 and that became the standard.

Border models notoriously made up their markings and paint scemes for their armour kits too. So I'm not suprised that they do this again.

I’d never heard of Border until you introduced them. These look like decent kits and can’t go wrong with a FW-190 any variant

Yes on the D-9. Not sure on the others.
Nice kit but will have to wait till after the 1/16 Tiger kit gets finished !!

You right, 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 for armours and aircrafts seems logical instead of releasing 1/35 armour kits and 1/32 aircrafts, like Tamiya does.
1:50 makes a lot more sense than 1/48 - feet and inches I suppose
Looks like a really nice kit!! 👍👍
I just got mine love it but the instructions don't show assembly of the undercarriage in the down position?

Are you going to do a full build of the A6? I certainly hope so, as I learn so much by watching you work!

Awesome Review Andy!!! Thank you. I’ll be adding that to the cart soon.
Would love to see a 1/35 scale TA152H kit..
Doesn't appear to be an option to have the canopy open, unless I missed something. Also clear parts appeared foggy in the video.
Looks like a great kit. All that's missing is a pilot figure.

Should be an epic build.
That Focke-Wulf looks badass! I'd luv to swing by a pick one up when you get them in!
Is the canopy clear? I only ask as it looks a little clouded on my screen.
Are the landing gear working or stationery he did not say
Canopy look kind of Cloudy I hope they fix that
