- Learn how to identify this specific injury type of the medial ankle ligaments. The fascial sleeve of the medial malleolus is the fibrous sheath of tissue covering the medial malleolus at the insertion of the superficial layer of the deltoid ligament and the flexor retinaculum, where both structures blend together with the periost. This fascial sleeve can get stripped of from the bone and is frequently missed on MRI reports! Patients however, may have prolonged symptoms.

I can walk and run with cut deltoit ligament ?
Thanks so much for this ankle series. I rolled my ankle 2 weeks ago, my MRI report says I have a “near complete tear” of the deltoid ligament, the anterior talofibular ligament and both the AITFL and the PITFL. Really helped me understand both my MRI images and what ligaments I’ve actually ruptured.
I think I need to have this done, what sort of recovery time does this have?
not a surgeon, ask you surgeon please.
My daughter was fine for three or four years, after that her legs became crooked and now she is walking on her feet. She is now 8 years old.
