I love my Eufy. I have bare floors throughout. I run it every single day, AFTER checking the floors for pee, poop, and puke.
I have to rescue her a few times now and then but it’s worth it. She’s my best-ever girlfriend and I praise her and thank her all the time.

I realize why I like your channel so much after watching many other cat UA-cam channels.
One, you are very professional. Your advice is detailed and thoughtful. You clearly are not just making comments off the top of your head. Two, your cinematography is excellent. We are not just watching a talking head but rather seeing your cats and the products in action. Lastly, I am glad you are taking advantage of the cutpoints so the viewer can just skip to whatever section we are interesting in.
We aren't even interested in a robot vacuum since we already have one but I watched just to see what you recommended!

@private private We have the Ecovacs Deetbot from a few years ago with self emptying bin. We are very happy with the purchase, and it's so much more advanced than our old Roomba. The only con is it had lost the map twice in the last two years which means the robot has to remap the floor.

Long haired dog owner here - Australian Shepherd. My boy sheds like nobody's business.
The Roomba i7+ isn't that great. While you don't have to empty out the bin after each use, you do need to take the rollers out and clean them off very frequently. If you don't do this, it simply will not pick up the hair. Instead, it'll just roll right over the hair and make yarn out of it, and leave it behind.
I've found that you've got to clean the rollers after every other use to keep them picking up hair. That means not only rolling the rollers to get out the hair that's wrapped around them, but that you actually need to physically remove the rollers from the vacuum and get out all the hair that accumulates on each end. And this is where the hair accumulates.
This isn't what I think of when I think about "robot vacuum". When I think about "robot vacuum", I think about something autonomous: something that I DON'T need to stay on top of every other day.
That being said, if you do keep on top of the rollers, it does do a good job. And obviously, the 3 minutes cleaning the rollers every other day is less time than it would take me to vacuum every day.

I think the Neato rubber brush is better than the iRobot one, since it has those long rubber flaps in the same arrangement as it would have bristles; iRobot’s rollers have very small flaps and then some bumps, seemingly optimised for picking up small debris. The counter-rotating design does pick up some kinds of debris better than Neato’s single roller, though.
I think that’s also why it performed better in the Litter Test, those longer flaps on the roller. (Plus she’s using the default brush and roller combo, as they sell 3 kinds, so the small brushes are presumably getting in the carpet better for the fine particles.)

I really like my white Kyvol Cybervac e20; it's quiet, my cat's not threatened by it, she'll lay down while it passes by or even enjoys following it around (with the occasional swat), transitions between tile & carpet easily while adjusting the level of suction, it includes useful accessories (magnetic strip barriers, brushes, cleaning tool), and it lasts ~150 mins before automatically returning to charge. It won't get absolutely everything but with the daily scheduling it will eventually get it throughout the week or you can manually operate it through the app or the controller to get places you can't wait for it to get. My floors are a joy to walk across barefoot since I've gotten it and it's nice to reduce the amount of cleaning around the apartment!

I have 2 cleaning robots (Roborock S6) one for the house and one for my Cats bathroom space. I use no go zones to map the Cats bathroom space and a trigger switch for when my cats use the Litterrobot to come out and vacuum the stray litter - so for this you need to have a cleaning robot capable of room mapping and no go zones! The one thing to worry about is when the cat has an accident, or barfs that the cleaning robot does not spread the waste across the house (trust me I have been there and it is not pretty!!!). My other robot keeps the house clear and clean of pet hair (I have 3 cats and approx. 1600ft2) now for the last 2 years.
Roborock recently released their "S6 MaxV" promising that it uses AI to detect and bypass these accidents ;).

For reviews, please consider adding a comment about how well it avoids puke. The fancier ones seem to be great about steering around poop, but I wonder about puke and hair balls. I am also surprised that a vacuum without a auto empty was considered. It would likely require daily manual emptying, which defeats the purpose of the thing.

Good review I am looking for another vac to replace the deebot 500. Personally it wouldn't buy that again if pet hair is an issue we have a cat and 2 golden retrievers and the brush was always tangled everything I ran it. If you want to spend 10 minutes cleaning it after each run, than it is a good budget option. The dustbin also is very small.

For people on a budget that still want a LIDAR navigation with mapping support, check out the Roborock S4, it's probably the best robot vacuum under $500 (goes on sale for $400 frequently). No connection problems with neato d7 (allmost 2 years in use). But i have set static IP for it, might help, dont know. But with neato, you have one problem. There are no spare parts and 1 major design fault that will cost you new robot after about 500-1000h of use. Your tires have plastic gears on them. They are screwed straight in, so while robot is moving it tries to lose that screw, and when it gets it tire to get "wobbly" it will tear down those gears that you cant buy without rest of robot. Great robot, but just make sure to tighten those tire screws once in while. (might be different situation in different places, but i havent find any place that fixes / sells spare parts, more than filters, batteries and brushes)

Thank you for these reviews. My home is mostly wood floors, do these work well on non-carpeted floors? I noticed that they all pushed your little rug around a lot. I only have one 5x7 area rug but no other rugs. How does it handle lamp cords, etc.? I loved the iRomba i7+ that empties itself, that's like having a butler, but it was quite loud. Again thank you for this information.

      @AllAboutCatsYT  3 роки тому +1

Hey Betty, all of these worked well on non-carpeted floors. Although they did push the rug around in this video, I found that in everyday use, all but the Kyvol, Ecovacs DEEBOT, and Bobsweep did an excellent job of navigating without getting stuck on rugs, cords, or other objects. Obviously, they did run into some obstacles, but overall, they managed to do complete cleanings almost every time. The cheaper ones did tend to get stuck and stranded more often, though.

@@AllAboutCatsYT I have owned the efey 11S for a few days now and really love it. I use it mainly in my "cat room" where the cat hair and stray litter is difficult to keep up with. I find that he gets into/under quite small spaces and even though I thought I kept the room fairly clean the amount of stuff the first run picked was embarrassing. It's pretty quiet too. It did pick up most of the stray pellet style litter and regular litter. "Spock" is the logical choice for me and my needs. The only problem areas are the floor heat vents, he did call for help when he got stuck on these. Again thank you for your review.

The Bobsweep's mopping feature may not do a great job at cleaning entire floors but since it is designed with pets/cats in mind, it may be good enough to clean up cat vomit. It would be better if it could detect areas that need mopping instead of trying to wash everything.

My cat is afraid of my stick vacuum. That's the biggest barrier for me to get one - I just think she'd be terrified of it. But then other cats love to ride them. Did your cats try to ride them?

I wish, but no! I will say, however, that while my cats are scared of the regular upright vacuum, they don't show a lot of fear of the robot vacuums. The only one that frightened them was the bObsweep, which has more of a loud screamy sound than the others.

Sorry to say I am so dissapointed with the I7. It is not able to handle pet hair, leaves furballs especially on the rugs. It can’t dispatch hair into the dustbin, it gets curled on the brushes. We are about to sell and buy another robot vacuum. We had a Neato D6 before, it was much better. Can’t compare. Will go for Neato again.

OMG I was waiting for a video like this since ages !!! I really hesitate between iRobot and Neato :) Did you notice any difference of efficiency with both of them regarding the surface (carpet or wood)? And if you had to choose between both, which one will you choose? :D

Hi Sloane, it's really hard to say which performed better on different floor types. Personally, I would probably opt for the Roomba for its convenience, but it's also more costly (including the recurring cost of bags for the waste bin).

Having both. We will never buy IRobot again.. that was waste of money. It simply can’t handle pet hair. Strongly recommend Neato

I’ve owned both and find the Neato is better at picking up deep debris in carpet, its rollers are longer. Roomba is slightly better on hard floors though.
My Roomba was ancient so it didn’t navigate or self empty, so the Neato’s extra size was an upgrade for me vs a downgrade on the new self emptying ones. Of course there’s no recurring cost if you don’t use a self emptying one, and iRobot do sell versions without the bag base.
Neato also navigates in the dark, unlike Roomba, but only sees a single slice where the laser spins. So it can’t necessarily tell types of furniture apart. While Roomba uses its camera to take note of lights on the ceiling and when it’s under tables so it has a better “idea” of where it is in a room. Neato will often go back whence it came until it’s sure where it is before getting on with its job.
And while the D shape lets it get into corners better, the circle shape allows Roomba to stick closer to unevenly shaped obstructions. Roomba has a sensor to know when the bin is full, Neato does not and will keep going even when full. Presumably with the self emptying model Roomba can go empty itself when needed before resuming its clean, but my one didn’t have that feature so I can’t attest to it.
Occasionally I’ve had an update on the Neato which made it act strangely, and had to go and pause&resume it when it happened, until they fixed it in a later update. I can’t say whether that will happen again or not.
I think that’s the main day to day differences I’ve noticed. I don’t know if the iRobot app is any easier to teach it your apartment, because my one didn’t have an app at all. But with the Neato app you have to teach it your apartment first and then if things change too much near the base you might need to do it again.
      Hopefully this helps!
