Haha Taeyang's wedding isn't controversial at all and he's actually one of the few Kpop idols who get married and get fan's blessings. His wife is his first love and met on set of his MV '1am'. They had a breakup so Taeyang wrote the song 'Eyes Nose Lips' which became the biggest hit of the year (We didn't know that they dated at the time). He even showed her on the billboard of the MV. And the news came out they were dating, fans were all making fun of Taeyang and congratulated this couple. Now they are happily married and have a son. Bigbang wrote Loser because they want to remind fans not to "worship" then like other fandoms do because they are just humans with weaknesses and problems and that basically in certain aspects of life, they are also losers. Since you are an Art director, I think you will love Top's 'Doom dada' live performances in the concert. Top is a huge art collector and uses 90% of his income to buy art. He also expresses his love for art in his songs and performances. Both GD and Top are Listed on '50 Art Collectors to Watch'.
The guys who sit on the audience lap is Seungri and the guy he sat on is a member of EXO which also one of the biggest group in kpop. At that time, there were some conflict between VIPs & EXO-L(EXO's fandom) due to voting, awards etc. But Seungri end it all with this scene. After that, VIPs & EXO-L are at peace and even become friend. I believe what Taeyang is doing now is also partly to end the fanwars betweem Army & VIP. As a VIP I'm really proud of them for reaching out to other group and show fans that there are no beef between them and the other group. Please keep in mind that Bigbang is way more senior than BTS & EXO and already the king of kpop even before these two group debutted. They could've just ignore it and move on with their life. The boy on who's lap Seungri sat is from group EXO . They are amazing too . During MADE era BigBang dropped songs in mini album form for 4 consecutive months in summer of 2015 and just dominate the charts . EXO was one of the few groups who would had the courage to also drop an album around same time . There was of course a fanwar between the fandoms and Seungri ended that war that night , with that joke , by sitting on the maknae of EXOs lap.

Thanks for reacting to my first loves BigBang. Taeyang's wedding wasn't controversial us VIPs were super happy for him unlike what happens with alot of idols when dating is brought up. We were waiting for it since he met her on his MV 1am and were happy when photos and vids came out. GDragon was the first idol to produce their own music as well as created the first lightstick. BigBang just built different lol and despite their flaws (which they do have we aren't delusional) we love them all the same
The thing about Bigbang live performance is, they always have that element of playfulness and comedy in their performance. That's why I love their live perfs so much. Also, what I also like about YG in general is that they are not stingy with the spotlight and airtime. They never hesitate to highlight the dancers, the band, the artists they collab with, etc.
I'll give you some info on why BigBang is the most legendary kpop group: They're known as the Bad Boys of Kpop because yes, they have had some scandals in the past, but that's because they've never tried to portray that squeaky clean image kpop companies try to show about their groups and members. Idols are not "supposed" to drink, to smoke, to have or talk about sex, but BigBang never followed those "rules". They drink, some members smoke, they like to party and their music is more adult oriented, they do talk about sex. But they are not really bad boys, at all. They are actually very nice, humble, grounded, softies really. BigBang is THE biggest 2nd generation group. They were the 1st kpop group to ever enter the Billboard charts, back in 2013. They were the 1st kpop group to hold a massive world tour. In 2015, they've earned more than Maroon 5, becoming the biggest artist in the world at the time. They took kpop to the world when internet wasn't what it is today, when western people made fun of those who liked kpop. People didn't care about streaming and views, everything they conquered was completely organic, almost mouth to mouth. G-Dragon (the leader) is to this day the most popular and most important kpop artist in the world. He even has a deal with Nike, and has released 4 sneakers until now. He's the biggest Asian fashion icon. He's the one who designed the very first kpop lightstick (BigBang's Bangbong). Before BigBang, groups wouldn't change their hair colors to match the comeback theme. They invented that. G-Dragon was the very first idol to write and produce songs, including their debut single, which to this day you dont see others doing (rookie groups debuting with a song written by one of the members). So it really isn't exaggerated to say that Kpop is what it is today because of BigBang. They are legends! They are INDEED the Kings of Kpop. Keep supporting them, they are incredible!!

Just a small introduction about Bigbang if you're interested to know.. BIGBANG belongs to 2ND GENERATION because they debuted in 2006. Though, G-Dragon started in the Korean music industry as a rapper at the age of seven(7) as a member of the group LITTLE ROORA in 1995(1ST GENERATION) and already has been a featured artist in 2001 of Perry's song "Storm". Actually, G-Dragon started as a child actor in 1992 before involving himself in the music industry. Taeyang also started his music career in 2002 before BIGBANG debuted as part of the song, " Unfold at a Higher Place" with G-Dragon and him(Taeyang) being credited of the song's lyrics. Yes! Finally someone mentioned the lighting! That is one of the first thing I've noticed when I watched it live! Because BIGBANG did not move all that much, but the lights helps a lot to the rather simple performance. Bigbang realised long ago that when you do concerts on large arenas most of the audience is just too far to see the choreo . They concentrate on interactions with the fans . Not being bound to a strict choreo also gives them more freedom to move on stage and change little tings from one performance to another. Sincronised choreo is cool and all but after you watch the group do it 3-4 times you know all the moves.

In my opinion, the most important two things of Bigbang are Live performances and Lyrics. Well you may skip lyrics of songs like 'Bang bang bang' and 'Fantastic baby', but please check out live performances with subs. You can find almost all Bigbang performances with Eng subs on a fan-channel 'Dorian Gray'. Also I'm totally fine if you choose Live performances to watch rather than MV.

your reactions to discovering bigbang mimic mine so closely LOL it's been like rediscovering them through you and so I just wanna say I appreciate that so much!! You'll probably be getting a lot of advice re: which performances to watch next in the other comments, so I don't want to add to the flood but in general I'd recommend their live concert performances (especially from the Dome Tour X, MADE tour, and 0 to 10 tour) over MAMA ones. The MAMA ones are great don't get me wrong, but they're done with a backing track while their concert performances are with bigbang's touring band, The Band Six, who do really cool re-arrangements of a lot of the songs.
Althought BIGBANG wasn't the first group I listened when I got into kpop (it was SS501) when I started listening to more and I heard BIGBANG for the first time I was blown away by them, I've been stanning BIGBANG since 2009 and there's no group like them, their stage presence and talent is INSANE.

Bigbang really doesn't all that fancy stage sets, out of sync to the song dance break music, crazy choreo on the floor dances, they just put on the song prolly maybe a live band to add more flavor to it and just hear their voices 100% with passion, energy and confidence! Like no one in todays kpop award show performances ever makes me feel the same as this(treasure is an exception and ofc bcuz of their yg blood). I just hope what Taeyang said in the interview that maybe they could perform as a group again someday will be sooner than later. Great reaction tho!

Loser was the very first kpop song I ever heard. I don't consider Gangnam Style as my first even though it was huge because that song wasn't even on my radar. I was into different things at that time and didn't even know about it until the tail end of the craze. I turned on Apple Music one day and put on the trending songs playlist and Loser was on it. So was Mic Drop by BTS but it was the version with Desiigner and it just didn't catch my ear like Loser did lol. So I went to watch the MV and Taeyang caught my attention. He was stunning and his voice is spectacular. I soon started watching everything I could find on them. I was an instant fan and Taeyang was my bias at the time, even though it would be a minute before I learned all the terms. Eventually GDragon started really catching my attention. His duality fascinated me. On stage he was a BEAST but off stage he was shy, quiet, introspective and the most creative artist in both fashion and modern art. He became my bias and his solo work is just that good too. And let's not forget TOP, my bias wrecker. That is one beautiful man. Anyway, I was really into them as a group and I loved loved loved their music. Then I found out about the mandatory military enlistments and that the members of Big Bang were soon to go. I was so disappointed on a deep level. I'd just discovered them and they were going away for 2 years. All but four went in at that time. I knew Jungkook from BTS, who I'd yet to even listen to, also considered GDragon his bias in Big Bang so I started listening to them and you and I both know how that turned out 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I hope you react to Taeyang's WAKE ME UP, the MV and the live version with the lights coming down from the ceiling.

Bigbang members, all 5 of them do look scary but they are kind and nice. Bigbang is the group full of scandals, true, partly true and false, and people have already judged them. Drinking and smoking don’t make us a bad guy, do they? Sometimes, they were at the wrong place at the wrong time with wrong people. And they had to be responsible for what happened. Even for seungri, he is really nice too. what took him to where he is now is greed. The greed that is not for fame or money, but solely for proving himself that he is good at something too.

The scandal of the son of the owner of S*msung Group wasn't a concern when Seungri was used as a shield by the media and the authorities for mistakes he never made. Bigbang, which became the number 1 Kpop group in Korea and internationally at that time, became the most effective to cover up the government scandal at that time. Also, one by one, Bigbang members were targeted for hatred by the order media but they failed. The competitors only managed to get rid of the youngest member Seungri. But thankfully Bigbang's return last year proved they still exist in the hearts of the public by reaching chart #1 on all music platforms. G-Dragon said they are still alive today.
What happened to him is so sad because most people actually believed the media instead of official court documents. The timeline for those controversies is always so shaddy. It's like they kept using big named idols to mask the conglomerates shaddy businesses.

appreciate the intro--it's tough to find reliable info on bigbang's history in the first place given the mistranslations & the general, well, hate bandwagon they have that I've brushed on before. This is a legendary performance, so I always like to see people react to it. Given your background, I think you'd enjoy the MV to TOP's solo song, Doom Dada: there's references to Dadaism (hence the name), 2001: a space odyssey, and lots of other cool stylistic decisions. Big Bang members are 5 individuals who have their own look, style, vocal style, musical style etc... as such although a group they all look different. You don't find this in many Kpop groups except those under YG. Also these guys are Superstars in Kpop. So when they walk on stage they are their own persona. G Dragon becomes that guy. Same with the others. And they ownthe stage.
If it's about Bigbang's live performances, I always prefer their concert live perf., cuz it is much more raw bcoz of probably of the live band. Also, the group which you did not recognized is called EXO. They are, I must say, in the top 5 of most well known/biggest kpop groups. Btw. BigBang weren't just different from 3rd and 4th generation groups in terms of choreographies and imaging, but also first and second generation groups! The choreographies of the previous groups were equally intense, in-sync and polished. BigBang is just an outlier in all of Kpop.
Fun fact, did you know that the Disney Movie Turning Red- the boy band in that movies was loosely inspired the group Big Bang and TaeYang- that's why one of the characters in the group is named TaeYang. LOLOL.

Haha Taeyang's wedding isn't controversial at all and he's actually one of the few Kpop idols who get married and get fan's blessings. His wife is his first love and met on set of his MV '1am'. They had a breakup so Taeyang wrote the song 'Eyes Nose Lips' which became the biggest hit of the year (We didn't know that they dated at the time). He even showed her on the billboard of the MV. And the news came out they were dating, fans were all making fun of Taeyang and congratulated this couple. Now they are happily married and have a son. The guys who sit on the audience lap is Seungri and the guy he sat on is a member of EXO which also one of the biggest group in kpop. At that time, there were some conflict between VIPs & EXO-L(EXO's fandom) due to voting, awards etc. But Seungri end it all with this scene. After that, VIPs & EXO-L are at peace and even become friend. I believe what Taeyang is doing now is also partly to end the fanwars betweem Army & VIP. As a VIP I'm really proud of them for reaching out to other group and show fans that there are no beef between them and the other group. Please keep in mind that Bigbang is way more senior than BTS & EXO and already the king of kpop even before these two group debutted. They could've just ignore it and move on with their life. The boy on who's lap Seungri sat is from group EXO . They are amazing too . During MADE era BigBang dropped songs in mini album form for 4 consecutive months in summer of 2015 and just dominate the charts . EXO was one of the few groups who would had the courage to also drop an album around same time . There was of course a fanwar between the fandoms and Seungri ended that war that night , with that joke , by sitting on the maknae of EXOs lap.

Thanks for reacting to my first loves BigBang. Taeyang's wedding wasn't controversial us VIPs were super happy for him unlike what happens with alot of idols when dating is brought up. We were waiting for it since he met her on his MV 1am and were happy when photos and vids came out. GDragon was the first idol to produce their own music as well as created the first lightstick. BigBang just built different lol and despite their flaws (which they do have we aren't delusional) we love them all the same
The thing about Bigbang live performance is, they always have that element of playfulness and comedy in their performance. That's why I love their live perfs so much.
Also, what I also like about YG in general is that they are not stingy with the spotlight and airtime. They never hesitate to highlight the dancers, the band, the artists they collab with, etc.
I'll give you some info on why BigBang is the most legendary kpop group:
They're known as the Bad Boys of Kpop because yes, they have had some scandals in the past, but that's because they've never tried to portray that squeaky clean image kpop companies try to show about their groups and members. Idols are not "supposed" to drink, to smoke, to have or talk about sex, but BigBang never followed those "rules". They drink, some members smoke, they like to party and their music is more adult oriented, they do talk about sex. But they are not really bad boys, at all. They are actually very nice, humble, grounded, softies really.
BigBang is THE biggest 2nd generation group. They were the 1st kpop group to ever enter the Billboard charts, back in 2013. They were the 1st kpop group to hold a massive world tour. In 2015, they've earned more than Maroon 5, becoming the biggest artist in the world at the time. They took kpop to the world when internet wasn't what it is today, when western people made fun of those who liked kpop. People didn't care about streaming and views, everything they conquered was completely organic, almost mouth to mouth.
G-Dragon (the leader) is to this day the most popular and most important kpop artist in the world. He even has a deal with Nike, and has released 4 sneakers until now. He's the biggest Asian fashion icon. He's the one who designed the very first kpop lightstick (BigBang's Bangbong). Before BigBang, groups wouldn't change their hair colors to match the comeback theme. They invented that. Just a small introduction about Bigbang if you're interested to know.. BIGBANG belongs to 2ND GENERATION because they debuted in 2006. Though, G-Dragon started in the Korean music industry as a rapper at the age of seven(7) as a member of the group LITTLE ROORA in 1995(1ST GENERATION) and already has been a featured artist in 2001 of Perry's song "Storm". Bigbang realised long ago that when you do concerts on large arenas most of the audience is just too far to see the choreo . They concentrate on interactions with the fans . Not being bound to a strict choreo also gives them more freedom to move on stage and change little tings from one performance to another. Sincronised choreo is cool and all but after you watch the group do it 3-4 times you know all the moves.

You'll probably be getting a lot of advice re: which performances to watch next in the other comments, so I don't want to add to the flood but in general I'd recommend their live concert performances (especially from the Dome Tour X, MADE tour, and 0 to 10 tour) over MAMA ones. The MAMA ones are great don't get me wrong, but they're done with a backing track while their concert performances are with bigbang's touring band, The Band Six, who do really cool re-arrangements of a lot of the songs.

Bigbang really doesn't all that fancy stage sets, out of sync to the song dance break music, crazy choreo on the floor dances, they just put on the song prolly maybe a live band to add more flavor to it and just hear their voices 100% with passion, energy and confidence! Like no one in todays kpop award show performances ever makes me feel the same as this(treasure is an exception and ofc bcuz of their yg blood). Loser was the very first kpop song I ever heard. I don't consider Gangnam Style as my first even though it was huge because that song wasn't even on my radar. I was into different things at that time and didn't even know about it until the tail end of the craze. I turned on Apple Music one day and put on the trending songs playlist and Loser was on it. So was Mic Drop by BTS but it was the version with Desiigner and it just didn't catch my ear like Loser did lol. So I went to watch the MV and Taeyang caught my attention. He was stunning and his voice is spectacular. I soon started watching everything I could find on them. I was an instant fan and Taeyang was my bias at the time, even though it would be a minute before I learned all the terms. Eventually GDragon started really catching my attention. His duality fascinated me. On stage he was a BEAST but off stage he was shy, quiet, introspective and the most creative artist in both fashion and modern art. He became my bias and his solo work is just that good too. And let's not forget TOP, my bias wrecker. That is one beautiful man. Anyway, I was really into them as a group and I loved loved loved their music. Then I found out about the mandatory military enlistments and that the members of Big Bang were soon to go. I was so disappointed on a deep level. I'd just discovered them and they were going away for 2 years. All but four went in at that time. I knew Jungkook from BTS, who I'd yet to even listen to, also considered GDragon his bias in Big Bang so I started listening to them and you and I both know how that turned out 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I hope you react to Taeyang's WAKE ME UP, the MV and the live version with the lights coming down from the ceiling.

Bigbang is the group full of scandals, true, partly true and false, and people have already judged them. Drinking and smoking don’t make us a bad guy, do they? Sometimes, they were at the wrong place at the wrong time with wrong people. And they had to be responsible for what happened. Even for seungri, he is really nice too. what took him to where he is now is greed. The greed that is not for fame or money, but solely for proving himself that he is good at something too.

The scandal of the son of the owner of S*msung Group wasn't a concern when Seungri was used as a shield by the media and the authorities for mistakes he never made. Bigbang, which became the number 1 Kpop group in Korea and internationally at that time, became the most effective to cover up the government scandal at that time. Also, one by one, Bigbang members were targeted for hatred by the order media but they failed. The competitors only managed to get rid of the youngest member Seungri. But thankfully Bigbang's return last year proved they still exist in the hearts of the public by reaching chart #1 on all music platforms. G-Dragon said they are still alive today.
What happened to him is so sad because most people actually believed the media instead of official court documents. The timeline for those controversies is always so shaddy. It's like they kept using big named idols to mask the conglomerates shaddy businesses.

appreciate the intro--it's tough to find reliable info on bigbang's history in the first place given the mistranslations & the general, well, hate bandwagon they have that I've brushed on before. This is a legendary performance, so I always like to see people react to it. Given your background, I think you'd enjoy the MV to TOP's solo song, Doom Dada: there's references to Dadaism (hence the name), 2001: a space odyssey, and lots of other cool stylistic decisions. TOP's very artsy, lol. I know you probably get a ton of requests, though, but I just thought that might be a neat one for you.
Big Bang members are 5 individuals who have their own look, style, vocal style, musical style etc... as such although a group they all look different. You don't find this in many Kpop groups except those under YG. Also these guys are Superstars in Kpop. So when they walk on stage they are their own persona. G Dragon becomes that guy. BigBang weren't just different from 3rd and 4th generation groups in terms of choreographies and imaging, but also first and second generation groups! The choreographies of the previous groups were equally intense, in-sync and polished. BigBang is just an outlier in all of Kpop.

Whats funny is the year before at the 2014 MAMAs which was just GD and Tae a def must watch, GDragon rapped a whole ass diss towards MAMA for being shady and gifting awards not based on talent or merit but alot on popularity (not all of course some groups deserve them) and MAMA didn't know ahead of time and STILL invited the whole group back. Being a VIP for 13 years and watching these guys grow and overcome everything thrown at them has been amazing. I'm so glad people are starting to look back and take a look at the standard that's been set by them. TBH as much as I think they're some of the strongest live performers in kpop, I also think it's worth reacting to their mvs first. The video for loser is really cool. I'd also recommend zutter, sober and fxxk it (worth searching out english subs - the official videos don't generally have them - apart from fxxk it for some reason)
Oh and you can pronounce t.o.p as top or t.o.p - the group uses both

I love Big Bang stage presence! the way they dominate the stage and give amazing vocals/raps without doing choreo is so great! My favs are 4th gen, they are amazing on stage as well, but sometimes I wish they put a bit less effort into dancing and show off their singing/rapping more.
G-Dragon is such an icon in all possible ways! I believe his stage name is a translation of his real Korean name and I agree, it sounds so cool!

the guy on whose leaps Seunri was sitting is from EXO. EXO was a huge band as well, they were the most popular kpop group before BTS popularity expoaded around 2017. EXO debuted in 2012 and they are the ones who started the 3rd gen. they are from SM and many people call them the vocal kings of kpop. So you should for sure check them as well! They were somewhat inactive in the last years, because the members were undergoing military service one by one, but they will have a comeback this year! they started as 12 members, but now there are just 9 left, one of the members is doing solo career in China and due to political reasons has problems to promote with the group, but I hope he will manage to at least join for the music video!
their most recent proper comeback of EXO is called "obsession". other popular releases are "growl", "monster", "tempo", "call me baby" and so on.
