I WOULD NOT have done this if there was not the forgiving lee-shore, which would have been safe to wash up on if/when things went seriously wrong
Finally someone publish something I can relate... thought was just me!!!🎉❤
Windsurfing - The struggle is real..
@@nunomcarvalho1 Welcome to the world of the intermediates! Yes, there is good stuff on Nico, Mario & Nils channels.... but I for one will never be that good... ever. So here is a regular dose of pain/exhaustion/euphoria....!
@DILLIGAF-e4r me neither🤣
@@DILLIGAF-e4r I did my start and intermediate instructor courses at OTC Portland (I’m actually based near Belfast). Grab yourself an hour or two of lessons - it will be worth it to give you a bit more confidence and technique.
@@robmilligan3650 I hear what you say mate; I know the OTC people and they are a great outfit. It is however extremely rewarding to just self-improve and make 99 or 999 mistakes before getting it right on number 100 (or 1000).... I accept this approach might delay development, but the overall result is much more rewarding. Targets for 2025 are:
30kts
Duck gybe
Lay down gybe
Power gybe pt to stbd....
Some or all of these will probably not happen.... but very motivating to try!
6.5 with 25-33kts is quite challenging! Congrats! You are way above low intermediate...
@@Leimholz1 Cheers mate! Yeah, it was a right hard session... but made the one the following day seem relatively benign.... if still challenging. Wish the wind would hurry up and change direction.... 3-4 days of cold, choppy NE's are wearing a bit thin!
@@Leimholz1 I'd only consider myseld mid-intermediate when I can gybe stbd to pt and pt to stbd on a regular basis..... I can do stbd to pt more often than not, but pt to stbd is still a leap of faith which remains beyond me!
Portland Harbour is a great spot! It looks like you needed to commit a little more to the harness (longer lines may help) and get into those straps quickly. Well done.
@@robmilligan3650 I invested in longer adjustable lines a few weeks back.... really good and drop right down to max when wind's up🤙
With those outlying straps and large sail you are far beyond the ‘low intermediate’ stage.
@@PatrickVincent-p6q You are very kind sir! Maybe gusting mid-intermediate then. Although did you see my catapult a few mins in on the latest vid today......?🤦♂️
Hats off to you looks like a tough session. Were you way overpowered?
@@davemanheimer4008 Certainly a smaller sail and board would have been more controllable, but I thought I'd push my own limits while I had a forgiving lee-shore to wash up on if (when) it went tits-up. Better riders would've handled it no problem and been getting proper airborn!
