Good cover! "Didn't mouth off..." mhhmm... Looking forward to the progress on this. Looks like lots of future projects and content! Awe man, you know you wana pop the top off the FlexBoss! Come on! 😁 Thanks for the shout out btw!
Sounds nice. 😄 Hope you do another video when you get it connected and let us see how that "zero back feed" works. Also, I've noticed personally that sometimes just talking thru something helps me to clarify the project in my mind and make certain that what I am doing is what I want to be doing.
Thank you for sharing your setup. This was very educational for me. I have a similar carport I will be using for my panels. Question, once you set up your arrays, is it possible to have a 12 and a 24 v output? Regardless of the watt rating of the panels
OMG. Thank you. I originally had the Anker F3800 and ended up returning it because of the limited solar input. But I liked that it could backfeed to the main panel. I did look at Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra but the horror stories regarding support and the quality of hardware made me think twice. Then I looked at adding solar on my roof but ended up changing my mind because I didn’t want to pay 4-5x what the hardware cost just for labor. Seemed way overpriced. So I went back to looking at EG4 inverters and batteries. That’s when the Flexboss 21 showed up on the market. I was actually looking to do exactly what you’re doing. Flexboss to EG4 batteries. Have a ground mount outside running power to the Flexboss. Then just have it back feed the grid. With CT clamps it should only back feed when needed. No need for interconnect agreements and 1/5 the cost of just solar roof panels.
@@Roll2Videosdid you get an interconnect agreement? I really want to avoid going through the hassle of doing that. Also are you going to use the Gridboss? A requirement is that the main 200 amp line coming from the meter has to be copper. Most people have aluminum coming from the meter to the main panel. That’s an added cost to consider.
@amartins02 I did not get an agreement. I probably won't get the grid boss because I already have a manual transfer switch in my house for my critical loads, so I could easily put an automatic transfer switch in its place. I'm not sure about only using copper with the grid boss you need to have the appropriate size conductor if you go to aluminum. There's a link in my video description for Adams Channel where he talks to the eg4 guys, and they touch on that subject.
I hope to one day have multiple units to test that 👍. The instructions on the start-up don't call for it, although they expect you to use their batteries with a soft start built-in. I precharged my unit.
@ so if you buy, say the weather pro’s, you don’t need the soft start? I thought you needed soft starts before the inductive loads. I can’t find much info on it out there lol But that’s good to know you don’t have AC issues. We ordered one and it shipped. We have multiple AC units so I guess we’ll find out soon
@Zodiac83104 I'm sorry I misunderstood you; I thought Multiple AC was multiple inverters, and the soft start was pre-charging the capacitors. I've heard the inverters can start an AC unit without a soft start, but I'm unsure about the ton. Multiple AC's on one inverter, I doubt it.
@ that’s alright!! I need to do research on it to see. We will also be hooked up to the grid so I would assume it would bypass any excessive energy and not be a problem. I guess it would be for a 100% off grid system. I’m staying tuned for any future updates you have with this inverter. If we have issues from our AC I will share my findings lol
Great video My flex boss should be here in a few days. Your situation and configuration are almost identical to mine. I’m still not quite sure how to wire the ac and it would really help me if you could do a video with a wiring diagram or would be willing to send me one. Also I’m going to use your channel mounting idea. Thinking it may also help with cooling a bit. Thanks much!
How much power can the flexboss 21 backfeed to the main panel? Also the 12KPV and 18KPV can backfeed the main panel also? How are you going to wire it the main panel?
@@johncarr123 I can backfeed the full potential of the inverter. I believe the 12/18KPV also can do the same. Here is some wiring ua-cam.com/video/0ZBI93SXIsI/v-deo.html
50A max continuous output. I wouldn't protect right at that point. I'm using 6-gauge wire that can handle 60A according to the code. I'm protecting the wiring. It's like using a 10A breaker on a 14-gauge wire.
Might be better to run a line tap within that panel and then go to the inverter. You can then feed the panel via a load breaker with an interlock kit. This way both inverter or grid direct can feed that panel, not at the same time.
