    Nice project, especially the work you did to match your dad's art. I see you glued the legs at cross grain. Pine can move, especially the flat-sawn piece you engraved. Are you concerned about problems from that?

      Thanks! All wood moves (expands/contracts) with temp and humidity changes. But not all wood does so at the same rate, and it's not consistent in all directions - wood will expand along the fibers (lengthwise in terms of a stick of 2x4 for ex) only 1/100th of the distance that it'll expand across the fibers. This is because the fibers are like a bundle of straws that swell and contract as they absorb moisture or dry out. I'm not concerned about damage of any kind from movement with proper indoor climate control anymore than I am about my guitars, because movement will be nonexistent with consistent temp and humidity. I wouldn't want to leave it in the back of a truck overnight in cold or humid weather, but that's not a good idea with any piece of indoor furniture. It's all climatized to
