Both are considered goddesses because they control celestial bodies, yet they had to rely on magical artifacts to win several key battles. THEY ARE JUST AS MORTAL AS EVERYPONY ELSE!!!! THAT IS WHY CELESTIA HAD DISCORD REFORMED!!!! BECAUSE IF THE ELEMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, THEN CELESTIA IS GONNA HIDE BEHIND THE ACTUAL FUCKING DEITY OF CHAOS!!!!!

And daybreaker wants eternal day, not to burn everything. It would probably be a desert instead of ashes, but the theory is cool

Also the Luna and Celestia's interactions are so adorable I couldn't help but smile throughout this whole episode. I don't care how it's done but I hope they somehow bring Daybreaker back in the finale.

Celestia did say Daybreaker would "never exist again". Which brings up the curious point of whether she was just referring to the dream, or if Daybreaker actually did exist at some point in the past.
I agree with you Kallo Skull and did anyone else notice how during the whole dream, nightmare moon didn't speak at all to celestia or really even acknowledge her. Were as daybreaker started verbally attacking celestia immediately.

I personally headcanon that Celestia and Luna were originally Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon and that they reformed after Grogar’s downfall (his magic turned Cozy into an Alicorn, hinting that perhaps he created Alicorns as a Chimera like he did the rest of the Monsters) and Discord’s subsequent takeover of Equestria. They decided to help the new Pony residents rather than hinder them, and thus took on less intimidating forms. Luna would revert back to her former glory and villainy after she felt unappreciated by the Ponies.
Daybreaker is a shadow, the *TRUE SELF!!* That aside, this episode was really nice! But wow, Luna kinda screwed over Celestia at the end lol It was great to see them interact, especially with how this episode pulled off their interaction!
This episode was top 5 for me in the series IMO just because of the story and how it was presented Nicole Oliver and Tabitha were fantastic as always and blanks reaction was just the cherry on top :D
Also, was it just me or does the part when Luna tries to do Celestia's jobs remind or seem similar to Fallout Equestria Project Horizons when Luna first starts to control Equestria and struggles? If only this episode had this problem go on for ever...

Development and more characterization for Celestia and Luna...well, I can check this episode off my S7 wishlist.🙂 I love this episode, currently my favorite of this season! With Starlight being assigned for a friendship mission, I can be hopeful that the CMC can be called by the map too! I must say that Twilight's inclusion here was very humorous however, I must point out the fact that she was being nosy on Starlight's business...again(a minor flaw but easily overlooked). Now, the dream sequence has pointed out some interesting images, one of them being baby Applejack being held by her supposed parents which made me squeal on the inside.😁 And then there's Daybreaker, the most groundbreaking moment in this whole episode!! My reaction to her was...a mixture of exhilaration and being terrified as well.
I can't decide between this and Rock Solid Friendship as my favorite episode of the season so far. I guess I have to give the edge to this one, because we've been begging for character development on the sisters since the very beginning.

"Day Breaker, from "Daybreak"/"Sunrise", as in the end of "Twilight". If we combine My Little Pony: Equestria Girls with Friendship is Magic, we knew our Twilight Sparkle is NOT THAT Twilight, because she occured after Sunset Shimmer, who could be her real mother. "Celestia" was derived from "Celestial" which came from "Caelum", which while can mean "sky", can also mean "chisel" (to break things). So… Celestia as Day Breaker killed the previous Twilight, causing Day to arrive. Later Sunset appeared and then gave birth Twilight, officially ending Day. From the way I see it, the ancient Twilight seems to be Celestia's unrevealed big sister. And maybe in an ironic manner, Celestia once cried at the side of a wounded ancient Twilight, after Celestia as Day Breaker wounded ancient Twilight. Just like when the current Twilight cried at the side of a wounded Celestia, after Nightmare Moon wounded Celestia.

One detail that the animators added that I really enjoyed si when loona lays her head on the table after reading the newspaper, her mane stops flowing. Since she is sad her mane is “sad” too.

I mean, in this context, destroyed is probably the better word choice. Killed would call up images of Nightmare Moon being on the ground bleeding out. Destroyed conjures up images of Nightmare Moon being _incinerated._ And I think that is the level of rage Daybreaker was at.

I believe Daybreaker was not Starlight's dream, but Celestia's. She could have formed because Celestia isn't used to entering dreams and wouldn't know how to avoid combining her own into it. I see Daybreaker as a manifestation of Celestia's negative traits, her occasional pride and neglect for Luna's feelings, magnified and without her positive traits to balance them out. Daybreaker is Celestia's shadow, a concept in Jungian psychology that represents the traits we suppress and deny about ourselves, or even project them onto others instead of seeing what we dislike about ourselves. Just like Luna had the potential to become Nightmare Moon when she was overcome by her envy and loneliness, Celestia could become Daybreaker if she turned evil and was overcome by vanity and the belief she was above all others. Daybreaker could be Celestia's dark side and the doubts and fears she has over what she could become if she didn't restrain her power or care about anybody other than herself; she fears what she is capable of and what she could be willing to do if she became drunk with power.

Perhaps that's a figure that's shown up in Luna's own dreams in the distant past, when she lost the Celestia.
I personally headcanon that Celestia and Luna were originally Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon and that they reformed after Grogar’s downfall (his magic turned Cozy into an Alicorn, hinting that perhaps he created Alicorns as a Chimera like he did the rest of the Monsters) and Discord’s subsequent takeover of Equestria. They decided to help the new Pony residents rather than hinder them, and thus took on less intimidating forms.
Luna would revert back to her former glory and villainy after she felt unappreciated by the Ponies.

Development and more characterization for Celestia and Luna...well, I can check this episode off my S7 wishlist.🙂 I love this episode, currently my favorite of this season! With Starlight being assigned for a friendship mission, I can be hopeful that the CMC can be called by the map too! I must say that Twilight's inclusion here was very humorous however, I must point out the fact that she was being nosy on Starlight's business...again(a minor flaw but easily overlooked). Now, the dream sequence has pointed out some interesting images, one of them being baby Applejack being held by her supposed parents which made me squeal on the inside.😁 And then there's Daybreaker, the most groundbreaking moment in this whole episode!! My reaction to her was...a mixture of exhilaration and being terrified as well.
I can't decide between this and Rock Solid Friendship as my favorite episode of the season so far. I guess I have to give the edge to this one, because we've been begging for character development on the sisters since the very beginning.

Day Breaker's debut and cameo is a sign for a future story, plus a hint of Princess Celestia's backstory and Equestria's history.
Day Breaker already _EXISTED BEFORE_. Celestia said "again", Princess Luna already knew Day Breaker, and Nightmare Moon who is Luna's past form also showed up.
"Day Breaker, from "Daybreak"/"Sunrise", as in the end of "Twilight". If we combine My Little Pony: Equestria Girls with Friendship is Magic, we knew our Twilight Sparkle is NOT THAT Twilight, because she occured after Sunset Shimmer, who could be her real mother.
"Celestia" was derived from "Celestial" which came from "Caelum", which while can mean "sky", can also mean "chisel" (to break things).
So… Celestia as Day Breaker killed the previous Twilight, causing Day to arrive. Later Sunset appeared and then gave birth Twilight, officially ending Day.
From the way I see it, the ancient Twilight seems to be Celestia's unrevealed big sister. And maybe in an ironic manner, Celestia once cried at the side of a wounded ancient Twilight, after Celestia as Day Breaker wounded ancient Twilight.
Just like when the current Twilight cried at the side of a wounded Celestia, after Nightmare Moon wounded Celestia.
I assume by "the previous Twilight" you mean an ancestor of Twilight Velvet? (Twilight Sparkle's mom) And when did Celestia cry at the side of her??

I believe Daybreaker was not Starlight's dream, but Celestia's. She could have formed because Celestia isn't used to entering dreams and wouldn't know how to avoid combining her own into it.
I see Daybreaker as a manifestation of Celestia's negative traits, her occasional pride and neglect for Luna's feelings, magnified and without her positive traits to balance them out. Daybreaker is Celestia's shadow, a concept in Jungian psychology that represents the traits we suppress and deny about ourselves, or even project them onto others instead of seeing what we dislike about ourselves.
Just like Luna had the potential to become Nightmare Moon when she was overcome by her envy and loneliness, Celestia could become Daybreaker if she turned evil and was overcome by vanity and the belief she was above all others.
Daybreaker could be Celestia's dark side and the doubts and fears she has over what she could become if she didn't restrain her power or care about anybody other than herself; she fears what she is capable of and what she could be willing to do if she became drunk with power.
