BLOOM by Yamit Salazar (Eliot Smith Dance): Day One in Rehearsals

29 April 2021 is International Dance Day and here at ESD, we're celebrating by sharing with you a sneak peek into the first day of rehearsals for Yamit Salazar's new contemporary dance work, 'BLOOM', commissioned by Eliot Smith Dance (ESD).
Bloom takes its inspiration from Colombia’s yearly ‘Festival of the Flowers’ and tells stories of strength, beauty and the diversity of people. A moving and colourful human work, Bloom is driven by traditional and modern songs, and draws particular visual reference to the end of human transportation by "Silleros", the porters of Colombia who were hired to physically carry people and their belongings through routes such as mountain passes that were impassable by any other means of transport.
Bloom will premiere as part of ESD's HOMECOMING performance at The Old School Gallery in Alnmouth on 03 July and Gosforth Civic Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne on 04 July 2021. To find out more please visit, www.eliotsmith...
