I saw it at the Public too and enjoyed it. Alicia wrote multiple new songs for the musical in addition to the songs from her back catalog. Dancing is awesome. Interesting reinterpretation of some of her songs to tell this story. I would say it is loosely based on a small part of Alicia Keys’ teen years. The story is only a tiny slice of a girl’s life. Performances were outstanding. Maleah Joi Moon will be a breakout star. Nice she is making her Broadway debut.
I loved everything about Hell's Kitchen and will definitely see it again if/when it transfers to Broadway. The book of musicals is never my focus. For me, it is all about the songs and performances. They were all fabulous❣️
FINALLY someone else who thought HWA was an incomplete mess. When Reviews came out praising it I sat there thinking " did we see the same show?". Honestly my biggest disappointment of the shows I've seen this year
