- Do not send hate to Waboo or anyone involved in the making of this video. I do not condone any form of hate on behalf of my personal standpoints.
I don't typically like to indulge in drama, or controversial topics anymore. However, this was just too big for me not to say anything about. Waboo is a fairly large channel in the community, and as someone who is trying to help push the community in the right direction, it's disheartening to see videos like these come to fruition. I expect more from creators with such a platform, as their influence and reach impact upwards of millions of individuals for better or worse.
I didn't make this video, or stream myself reacting for the sake of fueling to the hate train towards Waboo. Really I went into this with a neutral mindset and merely wanted to help guide the misguided back on track. As much as I do joke and mess around throughout the video, this is before all else an attempt to spread the word that Waboo's video is not credible. Waboo's character, or presense in the community is not for me to comment on.
This video was made live on stream over the course of 2.5 hours. So do excuse the lack of coherent thoughts in some cases, as these are all of my immediate reactions. However, I do very much still believe there is a lot of good information to be taken from the video. I tried my best to include as much insight that I possibly could, all while keeping this video under the 10 hour mark lol... with that being said though, this is more of a reaction styled video than an informative response or tutorial. heyy, usually i don't go for making comment since i don't like getting involved in drama but i kinda had to :
The "hack" number 65 at 46:06 was from me, i made a little tutorial on how to chose colors to create gradient with only one color to make "layer" for background arts for people who struggle doing it, this was never meant to be for block design... I was surprised to also see that waboo cropped my picture to avoid crediting me and i'm kinda disappointed he presented the tuto wrongly and without even wondering what the tutorial was for
i dont think he credited a single person in his video to make it look like he made it so his 4 year old viewers think hes so cool
I also contributed from Waboo's vid as well from #58 with the moon part as Waboo explained it really poorly. I didn't really mind that Waboo didn't give me credit even with the cat art that i made and i didn't really think it has any deep intentions, but man with Waboo cropping your picture to avoid crediting you just says something and thats just rough. I'm not trying to paint Waboo in a bad picture here, to be fair I think as a person he's cool but the way he made this vid is just stupid.

i have 4 years of expirience in gd editor and this waboo video made me cry , im giving waboo a gd content farm title from now on because the quality of his videos isnt any better than those
watching the waboo video was like watching the video of the girl holding a spoon upside down which makes her unable to eat some cereal and the solution she comes up with is using a hammer to bash the back side of the spoon to make the cereal edible with it

Yes, I know that if you go to practice mode for a level that you didn't create, it will say that you need a "Music Unlocker" to enable that setting, but what he's actually saying is that you can use that option in the EDITOR, not another level that you didn't create, no, he's talking about a level that YOU created, not a level from another creator

I think the main problem with waboos video is that it only shows how you should do something instead of giving you the tools to do it yourself. Instead of maybe showing how you can make portal decorations, it shows how you can do this one specific ship decoration.
Thats just my take on teaching stuff in general
to the HSV slider:
not checking the box takes the current brightness value and multiplies it with the slider value. This (for example) makes it not change the brightness at all if the original color was black. Checking the box, makes the slider value get added instead of multiplied. This allows even black objects to get brighter
This entire video was just insanity but the real highlight was making a canvas out of 18k dots to make some simple art that could be recreated with under 10 objects and BETTER
It’s a shame because waboo is such a good creator and his contest videos are really entertaining but this video really ruined his reputation

2 examples of a correct use of it are "Summer Winter" and "Blast Base", both are insane platformers, but both use ice block well, and they aren't from the same guy.
In the case of summer winter, isn't overused, I don't remember very well the winter gimmick, but its cool and is used responsibly, and in the case of blast base, there's a part in wich you are introduced to ice block (don't get confused, I'm not referring to the part that introduces ice slopes) and is fun because of the main gimmick of the level, wich is to use those cannons to be blasted

Using rotate trigger is only applicable if you have used edit special

For number 51 it’s basically saying “stealing art is good”

The worst part is, Waboo has some rated levels. They’re not very good, but he clearly has some technical skill in the editor. I can only see this as him intentionally trying to fuck over beginning creators.
While I think the video he made is very badly made, I would not go as far as call it malicious like that. Having a rated level doesn't automatically make you knowledgeable of everything, and also what can seem malicious at first can typically be explained by just being stupid, like doing no research.

41:22 Hey so at "hack" #58, it was coming from me out of Waboo hitting me up if I have any sort of editor knowledge so I gave what I've got. To be honest, Waboo explained it really poorly and I kinda find it funny how he presented the wrong object. From what I've explained to Waboo is that I just think this specific crescent shaped object from what you and Jeyzor presented is really good if you wanna make some lineart for art with the warp mechanic. I made the cat art as an example and I didn't expect that Waboo would put that in the vid, but I don't really mind that he didn't give me credit to be fair. And I also find it kinda funny how your chat is saying that the cat art is AI generated lol. Of course the cat isnt made entirely out of this one crescent object, I'm not a menace. idk why Waboo stated it that way. And now with creators heavily criticizing this vid it actually made me feel second hand embarrassment coming from this, but I heavily thank Jeyzor for clearing it up honestly.

As long as you didn't save the level, making any changes to it does not unverifies the level (from my experience)
the only thing you can change and still upload the level is the music. nothing else. but if you exiting the editor without saving it can be also uploaded. (music can be changed without save if its not in the song trigger)
you CAN enter the editor and it will still be verified, but if you place or move any object it will unverify the level unless you dont save the change

Link visible wont always render the object for the entirety of the level, it only renders all of the linked group objects IF at least one object of that group is on screen.
You can still unload them, you just need all of the linked objects to be offscreen to do so.

What is bad about it is that iOS players can't download apps out of the app store, and you need an app to mod GD, it doesn't matter what mod it, in this case, you need Geode, wich is easy to install, but isn't in the app store, so iOS players can't do that
AND not everyone is deaf, so you can use the button to hear the song, wich also activates triggers (if you're using arrow triggers consider using an object with the "playback" option, wich is an option that don't save in the level) to know how to sync your triggers

..."You now have a super-detailed block that looks good", that's just called blocking Waboo from all recommendations and never thinking of that channel again. Genuinely painful.

43:53 The arrows filling up room is like a half tip/hack. Use the arrows to indicate where / what you want the player to do, then add gameplay or objects around the arrows (like saws or spike rings)
