She had problems with twin pedalling the bass way back. She said that she couldn't get up with the tempo of Kanami's song's pace. She put in the work even 'air twin-pedalling' while she was eating. She writes down every hit of the drum on music score sheets. She looks so relaxed because the drums are second nature, an extension of herself.
Proof that Akane is in love with her job. Just look at that level of mastery while thoroughly enjoying what she is doing. I wonder how much of practice she needed to get anyone near that level though....
Just look at her face while she's playing ! That is what joyful intensity looks like ! I didn't even know there was such a thing ! ♥️🤯🥁
Akane used to have a bad posture with her back crouched, a bit like a hunchback.
Now she sits straight with her shoulders and arms totally relaxed.
If my memory serves me correctly she changed her posture after she injured her back or shoulder muscles from playing drums.
Thank you Wave for featuring Akane. I admire her maybe the most because her joy while playing shows that she has conquered the all challenges and obstacles she had to overcome to exude such confident and perfect her craft. A true inspiration for all.
There is no substitute for loving to play!
Wave, I think I've noticed something. Akane smiles more brightly when she is facing a challenging part of her routine. It's like she is absolutely loving it.
If I could play like that, I'd smile too.

The problem is, it's only because Akane's a gorilla, just like Saiki turns into a girl gangsta, Mincho wonders off to Mincho land, Misa gets drunk and goes to her own wonderland, Miku become super po, that some don't take them seriously.

Something I love about Akane's style is her part-writing creativity. Similar to the way MISA treats her part, Akane basically creates another contrapuntal line in the song. Just another reason why Band-Maid songs are -- as Wave has pointed out many times -- so "relistenable".

No matter which song she plays, you always get the impression that she could also prepare a sushi dish on the side. Everyone should listen to her playing on the HATE live video again with concentration and headphones. 5 minutes of perfection. Akane is a rock drummer with the precision of a jazz drummer.
Feels like she treats her drumming as a song long solos. There just happen to some people playing and singing some stuff around her. Don't think I have heard or seen a single song of theirs where her part couldn't be a stand alone solo

She does this (drum cam) on BAND MAID Prime as well - what a beast she is.
Akane is not only in my top 10 of all-time drummers, she is my number 1 for passion. She is HOME when she plays the drums. Look at her, she is so happy behind the drum kit.

And, they both have their style, not textbook perfect or over-sophisticated like some other drummers.
If you want to understand the phrase "economy of motion" watch an Akane drum video. She is a perfect example of speed and power. You don't need long strokes to play with power, it may look good visually, but all it does is wear you out faster. I don't care what Drumeo voters say, Akane is the best rock drummer at the moment.
Akane is amazing drummer! She is not just the best drummer in the world she is also the happiest person, she smiles all the time! Beautiful!
What I really love about female Japanese drummers: They look so happy, they just have fun playing drums, their face isn't making a fist, like many male drummers in rock/metal bands. I mean look at Akane, Haruna (Lovebites), Tamu (Nemophila) or Chika (Hanabie). They don't need to fake to be tough, they just deliver and are happy :)

I noticed in jinjers live video for teacher teacher how his drums are all flat. Someone said it comes from a jazz background
wish there was a footcam. But I think to some degree... when it literlly is your day job, this almost becomes the easy part. Songwriting, recording, practice... that's the work, and now, this many years into her career, this is the payoff. But it is funny to notice the difference in demeanor between Akane, Misa and Mincho.. while playing vs say..talking to the crowd.
What's amazing to me is how little she really moves (outside of her four limbs). She's so much more centered and in control than she was back in their early days. I guess her back injury kind of necessitated that. All of that and she still manages to be so much fun to watch. 🥰

I do love the way she used to put her whole body into her drumming when she was younger -- it was so expressive. But I understand the importance of efficiency in her mature style we see here.
I feel that the way Akane works within a song sets her apart. I listen to a lot of music with drummers "better" than Akane, but no one fits and elevates the song better than she does. It's a miracle band. Enjoy them while you can because we aren't seeing this again in our lifetimes.
P.S. everyone would love more breakdowns, Wave! Just a suggestion to wait until the new album comes out so you can break down your favourite track(s) while there's a lot of excitement around the release. People will be gagging for Band-Maid content and you're one of the very best. Umm...you *were* talking about Band-Maid breakdowns, right, not other bands? Wait, "other bands"? What's that?
Akane is a versatile, fast and intelligent drummer who knows how to use the double pedal perfectly without ever overdoing it. But can she only be considered a HardRock/Metal drummer? Thanks Wave.
She could be a great jazz drummer if she wanted to ! As every stroke is written out beforehand, she can segue into any genre with ease. I love watching her sing along with a song ! It shows how " dialed in " she is . As soon as I saw this, I thought " Wave has GOT to react to this !"

I think AKANE intends to play in any genre.

Just as Kanami and MISA make their guitars and bass sing during any song, Akane also makes her drums sing during every song.

I think Pau from The Warning has the power and energy, but I love Akane's technical skill, and she does look so relaxed playing and smiling all the time. She makes it look easy, but years of practice have made her (in my opinion) the mistress of the double kick drum 🦍🍌❤🤘
I'm not sure Pau plays with more power than Akane. Pau's long stroke may look more powerful , but is it really?
