I bought this card for my budget gaming pc, paired with i3 9100f and 16 gigs DDR4 2400 RAM it plays all games in 1080p with 60 - 75fps, some older titles even in 1440p Update: I've upgraded my PC to an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 paired with 32 gigs of ddr4 3200 RAM on the good old Asus B450M-KII motherboard, still utilizing the GTX 1660 Super - the cpu and ram upgrade helps a lot, especially on more demanding, newer titles (Diablo IV, Resident Evil 4 Remake) and even older cpu intensive games like Assassins Creed Origins - I guess the i3 9100f quadcore cpu did not cut it anymore
I have this exact GPU. I also have the i5 10400F with 16 GB memory. I might not have the best gaming PC in the world, but i am super happy with the overall performance of my PC. It can run any game with no lag whatsoever.
@@R3cce It can do both. Depends on the games and settings. Higher texture level requires more ram but all games will have caps. The standard right now is about 16GB but gamers are starting to move to 32GB now. Similar to the Vram on the GPU, more Vram, the higher the settings.
I bought a 1660 Super prebuilt from NZXT during the scalper crisis. It might be a ripoff, but personally, I wouldn't have had it any other way. This card and I have been through a lot, and it's served me well. As a 1660 Super owner, I feel pride seeing this video.
Nice review, the 1660 Super is still a great card. I think the GTX 1070 is very good too at around the same price. If you are buying new then it's best to go with the RX 6600 as that's the only new budget GPU that's a great performer without sacrificing features like hardware encoding etc. I hope Nvidia release a new budget card soon but they just seem to have totally ignored the budget market for the last two to three years.
This is a great GPU at 1080p! Absolutely smashes games. I have the MSI 1660 Super Ventus OC and the Gigabyte Windforce. They both play the same, the gigabyte being a 3 fan is about 7 Celsius cooler. Couple this GPU with a 2700x CPU and it will nail all SIM games at 1080p on ultra settings. ATS, ETS, Transport Fever 2, Train SIM 3, very underrated GPU. I paid £240 for the MSI, worth every penny.
I’ve been using this gpu with many titles new and old, I have it paired with Ryzen 5 1600, 24Ram and 3TB. I just got this set up a week ago, so far it’s been amazing.
I got it 2 years ago in my pre-build. Still runs like a charm. Counterstrike 2, Battlefield 2042, and it seems that it's going to be able to run Cities Skylines 2 on release, we'll see though.
My friend needed a new pc and I offered to help him. Got him a 1660ti for $150. Not a 1660 super, but the point still stands that the 1600 series are budget kings.
I have it for a few years now, I have to admit for the money it's been a great card. Reminds me of the old Radeon 6850HD. Very good performance to power and cost ratios. Don't get me wrong, I wish I could afford a new system with a raytracing card, but for what it is, it's a fine card to have. Cool video.

well, it depends on your point of view. to me, the gpu crisis isnt over. the cards are still over msrp in germany while they already should be under it. by this point in time, a rtx 3070, should be down to 400-450 €, yet the cheapest is 577 and its only a 2 fan card. iam currently running a gtx 1080, which i bought for 512€ in 2017. the thing is a 1080, doesnt really scale well at 1440p. even older games, cant handle ultra setting at 1440p on that card with stable 60 fps. and modern games like cyberpunk? 1440p, low, 40 fps. granted, pascal doenst perfom well in cp77, maybe the game wasnt optimzed for that, but that shows me: when it comes to the future in 1440p, that card is no safety net

The RX 6600 will be more powerful. Not 100% sure on the difference between brands when it comes to VR. I have used the Quest 2 with both Nvidia an AMD and never noticed a difference.
I believe you can still by them new from some places although they aren’t being produced. The pre-owned market is where the budget ones are though as new they seem to be priced a bit high.
The RX 6600 comes in at the same price retail (at least here in Europe) with about 20% more performance and more features. Kind of seems biased towards NVidia to me

@@TechLabUK well it's been 3 years since i have this card at july 2019, i repaste week ago, and recently i add 5 artic fan to boost airflow before i upgrade fan, my gpu nearly 90c and i play games always open the side panel and temperature got 74c. Or it's because my matx case
My EVGA Gtx 1660 super SC ultra model always has the fans running, so I believe it's just the design of the card, Excellent choice though, and great video!
RX 6600 is a great choice, just unfortunately not at the same price level here yet. Would love to play with an RX 580 so keeping our eyes open for one.
Right now you can buy them for £170 in CEX or there are multiple Buy Now options on eBay from £130. Not sure where you are looking unless you have managed to find them listed new somewhere.
Hopefully things will get better soon. Here pre-owned, older cards like this are starting to look good in terms of price but anything new gen is holding on.
If you're only for gaming then it'll be a YES, but if you're also a content creator then 1660 is the answer, Nvidia NVENC and CUDA codec are more beneficial than AMD Radeon

Unfortunately not the case here. Pre-owned the 1660s can easily be picked up for £100-£150 whereas the RX 6600’s are still holding on to prices of £200+. If you can get the RX 6600 for as little as $10-$20 more then that’s the one to go for.
@@TechLabUK even for that difference it is still objectively comparable. New(warranty) vs preowned with 2 more GB of vram and optional raytracing(even if not optimal at least it is there). It might even have longer driver support. In a decent amout of games there is about a 30% fps increase.
As far as I know the RX6600 doesn't have NVENC so no, it is not substantially better. The quality of NVENC is unfortunately still superior. At least if you are into encoding videos/streaming.

1660Ti for $150 seems a great deal. I believe they are faster than the Supers as well, might look to get one in for some testing 🙂

As someone who has 1660, it's an alright card, but with 6600 new going for 200$, i wouldn't buy 1660 for more then a 100-120$ tops

Most things I use it for it handles really well. It lags out really bad on ARK ascended if you go past high on the settings.

Depends how far you want to go. For a decent uplift in the modern range. 6600xt / 3060Ti minimum.

Most annoying thing about these cards is the lack of 0DB fan control.
This is right, that the 1660 super is a good 1080p gpu, but the used-prices are too high, about 200€ and for that, its not worth it.
Luckily here they are going for around £130 pre-owned. Not great but also not bad considering the prices of others.
