A quick look round a typical Bally electro mechanical reel mechanism, from a slot machine (fruit machine in the UK). Showing the win combination circuitry and hold mechanisms.
On mine there are two levers at the bottom front of the reel assembly that hook into the base plate. When pulled forwards those levers lift their hooks out and the whole assembly slides forwards. It is quite stiff to pull at first because it has a lots of contacts on the chassis plugs at the back. Likewise it needs a firm push when putting it back in to re-mate those contacts in the connectors.
the UK version is a little different from the US ones, for one thing none of our relays had those plastic covers, it was all just open. And none of the machines here had that hold feature. I've always wondered what the math was on holding a reel and spinning again, which I think is how it worked.
Is there a reset i can’t seem to figure out out to place the wheels in a proper sequence as a winning spin shows yo but no payout is given and then a random sequence hits and it’s a large payout.
I have an old nickel slot machine ,Bally manufacturing, numbers on tag are 809-ZZB and MT-16118. Where can I find some technical assistance while working on this machine I think it's probably an minor electrical or mechanical issue It is an older machine with no IC boards. I would love to get this thing going. I consider myself mechanical and electrical inclined as it has been my life long trade, however there is a lot of part's in this machine and I have no manuals or support of any kind to direct me and advise of possible problem
It's often dirty or burned contacts in switches, relays, wipers and connectors. If it's doing nothing at all, check that the jackpot timer hasn't tripped. Depending on the machine there may be a reset button behind the payout hopper.
@@bigclivedotcom where can I get parts. There is a small double pole switch behind the door, with a small wire lever, that trips when a coin is dropped but it doesn't return to normal position after coin goes thru
@@bobsteimel3741 If the switch is free to move it may be rubbing against something, or the little trap that prevents a coin being pulled back up on a thread may be blocking it.
I have a Bally Tunnel Target that has the same set up here. They all work good but, it always pays 1 coin less than what is stated. I think it is the first reel that is causing the issue. Can the wiper arm be adjusted maybe 1 more contact? Thanks. Rick
I’ve picked up a fruit machine for free,I’ve changed the battery on the motherboard and I’ve changed the switch on the power supply, the machine is still dead,I’ve opened the power supply and one of the capacitors has a bulged top, could this be a issue
Do you have contact info to help with a electromechanical issue. Unit looks identical to what you are showing. It was my grandma's and passed to me when she passed away. I can manually pull the reels holds back but they won't release and spin.
I've watched your videos but it doesn't help me with my issue. The machine is just like yours- works fine until it hits a payout, then it empties all the coins in the hopper without stopping until all are paid out. Any suggestions of what is causing that - relationship, switch ?
There will be a payout counter that has a solenoid that steps a wiper arm around contacts. In mine it's in the upper box. If the solenoid is jammed or burned out, or the switch on the coin exit from the hopper isn't actuating then it can't count the coins and will trip the "jackpotting" timer. It could also be a loose relay or one with a bad contact. Check they are all seated properly in their sockets.
@@bigclivedotcom Thanks. When I took out the coin mechanism the onboard circuit board was loose and I tightened it, so this doesn't occur anymore. Now it seems to payout correctly, but only on line 1 not the other 2 payoff lines
If it's an electromechanical reel mech check the reels are spinning freely when the stop mechanism is retracted. If there's a hold solenoid make sure its mechanism isn't jammed in. Watch the mechanism operating to see if the air-brake timed reel stopper is dropping in the stoppers in the correct way.
Is it a mechanical assembly the reels are on, and are they free to spin freely? Sometimes WD40 gets used to provide temporary results but then ends up gumming them up.
It depends on your system. In this one the whole reel assembly unlocks and pulls forward, and the reels can be released by two spring loaded restraints at the sides.

Having seen Clive's latest video, it's only appropriate I should view Classic Clive from nine years ago.

The center reel will only advance one symbol while the outer two spin when the arm is pulled. Advice on how to remedy?

If it's an old electromechanical machine like this then check the reel bands haven't slipped around to the incorrect position.

It could possibly be the payout counter that is needing serviced. Sometimes a coin can also stick on the edge of the hopper output and drops later.

Yes. They often bulge when they fail.
My pull arm will not pull solenoid??

There are forums for maintenance of older machines. Prime suspect is usually dry oil causing some parts to stick.

these machines also had a timer to stop runaway jackpots, in the back behind the hopper.
Well....hello 2012!
What could be the problem if Reel 2 only spins ca. 2 Symbols per Spin (Reel 1 and 3 are spining normaly)?

My reels have stopped spinning. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do? I tried putting WD-40 on the levers but that did not work.

how do you remove the reel unit from the machine, thanks.
How do you remove reels safely?
Regards mike

How do you solve a reel unit error
Wow! I’m current subscriber and I knew it was u from your voice
How do you remove the reel? I got the two levers in the front but it feels as if something is holding it in the back.
Ignore that. I saw the comment below.
My solenoid will not engage to release first coin registers second to do not it's a quarter slot machine three rells one line
Cool
