I think Eric could school him but he is very gracious in not upstaging Brad at his CD party. The also obviously had Brad mic'd a lot hotter too. Very fun to watch.
the mouthpiece affects the tone (if you want to get a jazz tone, you have to buy a jazz mouthpiece) but then again, practice is also key to getting a good tone :)
