Interislander ad "Sailing to the Other Side" (1990)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 жов 2009
- Ad for the Picton-Wellingotn ferry service featuring an original song by the Waratahs. This song became a big hit for the 'Tah's and even features on their Greatest Hits CD.
NZ news today has gifted me this glorious ear worm !! 🙉
Me too 😂😂
Might change from 'crusing' to 'Cursing on the Interlander' at this rate.
I guess Kiwi pop music suits them better than "rock" music anyway...
Thank you VERY much for posting.... haven't heard this for years!
Bloody excellent!!
Thanks for this! I was singing this to my wife who never heard it and when I played this to her she pissed herself.. classic ;)
best ad
This brings back great memories! Thanks for posting.
Happy 60 years Interislander!
I can remember seeing this advert on the TV on the Interislander back in 1993. Seemed out of it to see this when you were actually on the Interislander. Can also remember watching the All Blacks play the British Lions test match as we travelled over everyone was in theatre watching the Rugby.
Interislander has bought the theme back! Saw an advert on TV3 tonight with it - different [female] singer though.
I remember this ad! Featuring the BEST Interislander Ferry, ARAHURA!!!
threalMrT76 Couldnt agree with you more, so sad to see her go too.
Brilliant Song and Music
Awesum ad i really like that song. Thanks for posting man.
Love this song. Brings back some fond memories of people still here and people now gone. Thanks for sharing
the golden years of the cook strait rail ferry's , when the company repainted their ferry's from searail green NZR colours, to the interislander line colour sceme.
I believe this man sung "harbour city you're a friend of mine"
In like very must when i study in NZ.
wowwowowowowwowowow
It might be in my collection, I think it's a later version, not 100% sure I have it though.
I'm surprised I don't remember this, as I remember seeing a similar ad for the Interislander around the same time ("Cruise away with me" or something like that)
nice song
I see the Arahura is now been replaced in 2015 by the new Kaiarahi. That was my favourite ship in the Interislanders fleet.
If only there were lyrics to that song I love it so much
Nicholas Win.....I'm pretty sure I heard some lyrics. Their mouths were moving anyway......Did you try a basic google search mate? Anyways in return for being a smartass I present to you now the lyrics to the song. You're welcome...www.flashlyrics.com/lyrics/the-warratahs/cruisin-on-the-interislander-06
A NZer with half a senser of humour will find the irony in the advert - Cook Strait crossings are known to be rough. But I don't think "Spewing on the Interislander" would be a good PR line.
Love the ad though!
chur for this..
yes a nice song
me too! that's the one i was after :)
Where can I find the version of the song/ad that has:
"What's the hurry, what's the rush, come on and cruise with us.
The Interislander, can you bring us together, take me where I wanna go
And when it's time to leave to leave, the Interislander, you can take me home
And we'll be cruising on the Interislander"
Sincerely,
A Nostalgia Junkie
@lcmortensen yea, its their "relaxed" version of it, but this is ,by far, the better version
Where can I find the Warratahs track Another Town?
Reminds me of the times when the Ferry actually fucking worked.
Cruising on the Interislanderrrrrrr has become the wedding song of choice for many young couples. Even better, many romantics are choosing to get married onboard the Interislanderrrrrr and enjoy a honeymoon cruise as a result of this massive hit's popularity. Unfortunately the cruise is somewhat shorter than say, a Caribbean cruise or one through the South Pacific, but it does include the tranquil Wellington Harbour.
Can someone do me a favour and write the piano sheet music for this please? Haha
Waitin for the interislander/Wastin my time/Watchin crap mime
No audio??
It's one of my older videos so the sound comes from only one side but I checked, it's still there.
I can't hear the music
I guess you "work" for KiwiRail then?
about as kiwi as you can get
Props to every musician who had to do the worst gig ever for free ferry passage
