I agree with all of you who are ready to just plain enjoy this season. We probably never were going to the SB this year. Let's toss the rock all over the place this year with our two gunslingers at QB. If they throw some interceptions, I'm not going to freak-out. We still have Dallas Turner, and JJ is back next year.
So bummed about JJ but I’m coping with the fact that the Darnold experience should be interesting, and if we’re bad we should be fun bad
Love the “fun bad” comment lol. Didn’t want to get my hopes up for the year but am excited to see what Darnold can accomplish. I keep thinking back to the Case Keenum year where he wasn’t a spectacular qb but didn’t have to be since he worked well in the system and didn’t try too hard to be a hero. Especially when we have so many offensive weapons (albeit with some injuries and the Addison incident but I digress). I’m just hoping to see some exciting games this year if nothing else.
Twitter was fun yesterday😅
Can JJ practice with the 2s if he’s healthy in Dec/Jan? Agree that there’s not really a point to play him that late, but it can’t hurt to do some 7 on 7s or something else non-contact, right?
I was expecting Sam to play the whole season anyway. JJ would have been an elite back up, but I think Darnold will surprise a few folks. Just watch how Sam marched up the field in his only drive against the Raiders starters. The same starters that got the INT and made JJ look a bit average early.
I don't expect him to win a super bowl or anything, I just hope he's fun to watch
Might be a good time to extend Darnold now, just to cover that hand over in 2025, and give the Vikes control over Darnold as a trade asset next year.
Yes, follow the Trainers directions to a T!
Look, if you only had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment... would you capture it or just let it slip?
Darnold will be throwing interception....but so did Brett Farvre..
Last time he started his INTs were about average for a top 15 QB. Cousins threw more INTs than TDs in his first 3 seasons, even worse than Sam's bad start at the Jets, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Damn sorry that McCarthy will miss the entire season. He'll come back and be stronger than ever.
UwU ill be here with you too luke
Picking #8?? Next year
#28
Mark and Ziggy, resign Kevin and Kwesi tomorrow. You got it right when you originally signed them.
Your opinion in not a lie Luke, it's just an opinion, and yours is closed and pessimistic.
Sure the Vikes have a number of unknowns relative to the rest of the conference - so did the Bucs, Packers, and Texans last year, even half way through last season. Who would have had the Bucs making the playoffs, or the Cowboys AND Eagles getting mollywhopped in the wild card round, especially by the Bucs and Packers.
The Eagles finished 2023 in disarray, have significant changes in the trenches and 2 new coordinators again.
The Cowboys added no one in FA, and have contract situations with CD Lamb, Dak and McCarthy.
Everyone uses the 49ers as a benchmark, but conveniently forget that the Vikes were the only NFC team to beat them in a meaningful game last season.
The 49ers have their own problems facing a major cap crunch next season, struggling to sign Aiyuk, and refresh Williams' deal. They are already 40m over the 2025 cap even before they extend Purdy, so unless the cap increases massively they will have a lot of restructuring and cap casualties just to accommodate their rookie class.
The NFC South looks shaky. Kirk is 36 coming off an injury, and loses the bumps he got from KOC and Jettas.
The NFC North hierarchy is based entirely the season the Vikes played without their QB, and completely ignores the previous season when they dominated the division. I think Darnold could easily play better, and be more productive than Kirk - which could put the Vikes squarely in the NFC conference picture.
