The scissor traps (I have 4) have been awesome, I have caught at least 30 or more moles over the last 8 years with them. You made a very good video with only one difference to how I do it. When compressing the trap down to level, I rock the trap back and forth across the tunnel with my foot still on the compressed trap lightly. This way the blades have no obstruction and a clear shot. I have had only two failed empty traps, no credit to me for that knowledge, the Man who sold it to me explained that to me.
Great advice. Worked perfectly for me. I ordered one trap, set it around 4pm and it nailed a mole by 7pm. Amazing or just beginners luck. Either way, I followed the advice in this video exactly and it worked.
Thanks for posting after watching I went down to Tractor Supply and picked one up came home set the trap started walking into house and trap went off and get got my mole in about 2 mins. I have been trying to get rid of it for months
Got the traps after watching your videos. Bagged the little bastard in just a few hours. I was at my wits ends.. I tried everything, drowning, blowing them up, poison, everything! Nothing worked. Glad i found this video. You’re right, the urban hunting aspect is fun. Thank you
I got these traps after this video - they work! I just got one, they’re already active. I keep four deployed throughout the yard in the main runs at all times. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this video! Moles were destroying out yard, one tunnel at a time! We knew it was just a matter of time before the kids or dog sustained an injury. This trap has been a mole slaying machine! It's currently 8/8!
Great video, I wish I was as fortunate as you to get rid of my mole. Right after watching your video I bought two of these from Amazon which came same day and was ready for some Urban Hunting to get the little devil. My friend has had great success using these so he can vouche for them. I followed all the “instructions” from the top rated reviewer (don’t touch with bare hand to keep scent off trap, ect., ect), and after 3 days the little jerk was still having a party. So I watched another video about learning their active times and to just use a shovel. Next morning I put on my face paint and got savage! I caught him that very morning and spiked him on the ground like I caught the game winning TD!
I agree the scissor traps are the most effective but with one exception. The Victor Plunger # 0645 works better where straight objects like a raised bed planter attract moles that burrow tunnels around it. The Victor Plunger trap can sit right next to the flat surface and accurately target the tunnel that runs parallel to the flat side. The scissor trap doesn't work in this case. Other than the exception above, I agree, scissor traps are the most reliable method to catch them. I've used scissor traps for over ten years. They work and what better evidence than a dead body to know you killed the pest?
Thanks for the detailed video. I dug out the mound and put trap in. The trap triggered but no mole. Saw your video going to reset it on the tunnel not in the mound. Ill update you later today. Thanks in advance
On your advice, I bought the scissor trap and caught 2 moles so far. Yesterday I saw a mole tunneling and dug him out with my shovel. So the count is 3 moles. I plan on buying more traps.
Thank you very much for the info new to the area. Got a mold problem from hell never experienced anything like this before I’m going to buy 10 of everything on the market and throw everything I can at them
I've caught two in just 21 days. There's a knack to using it. It's not as easy as a mouse trap! You need to observe the tunnel activity. I loosened the bolts 1/2 turn for more sensitivity. It took 8 days for the first mole, 2 days for the second mole. Both were caught after a heavy rain when earthworms are more active.
Thank you for taking the time to post this video. I just bought 3 of these traps at Rural King at $19.99 a piece. I haven't caught any yet but they are set in the yard. God bless you and your family!
Great video! I’ve been wondering if I should get one of these…I’ve only been able to get one with my little pitchfork…you HAVE to be in the right place at the right time. Definitely going to order one right now. The only thing I would say I didn’t like about the video is I feel like you should have mercy killed the mole. It would have been a great learning experience for your son…speaking of that, I love that you involved your son instead of trying to shield him, like a lot of parents would have done. Thanks!
I bought one of these about 5 years ago. Used it numerous times and never got anything. The moles in our area are much smaller than the one you caught, I think the smaller ones won’t trip the trap. My go to solution has been either moth balls or seeing the dirt mounds “move” and then scooping them out with a shovel, not optimal but the only thing that gets results
This year the local population of moles has gone completely out of control! Tried all the usual baits, worms, MoleMax & foggers back in May, but our yard was still quickly becoming a war zone. Neighbor even resorted to these friggin annoying sonic spikes (grr, that high pitched sound every 30 seconds really ticked me off so I gutted the one she set closest to my house). Bought 2 of these traps in June. It is now September, & despite the fact our yard is tiny & in the middle of the city where it really should only support 1-2 moles, we've already caught/killed 11 of these pests with our traps. Thinking of buying some to give out as Christmas presents to the neoghbors.
The Ez mole trap works great! What I do is mash all of the tunnels down with my foot first irregardless of how many I have. Then I go back several hours later and observe new recent mole tunnel activity. That's where I put the trap.
Scissor traps are great for open areas like this. If you’re having them dig along the foundations, the gopher hawk snare traps are excellent. I’ve caught about as many with each type, my moles love going along the foundation for maximum damage.
People, I use the scissor trap and the key to my trapping success is finding the rubs going north to south and east to west. I walk the runs so I get a good press down then I set the trap...ZERO false pop ups. Try focusing on the direction of the run and press with your feet. Dont be lazy.
Just a follow up. Went with the poison after having new lawn nearly ruined by moles and wasting weeks with the trap. While there may be some environmental issues the pesky moles were GONE in two days. Zero activity now for about 10 days. Placed the poison which looked like fake grubs in the holes and in 48 hrs no more moles! I even looked and I could see some of the poison was taken from the where I had placed it.
I've had about 4 of these for years now, they work awesome. Keep them oiled as they can corrode over time and stick open. I sharpened mine more like a scissors, as much as I hate moles, I don't like making anything suffer more than needed (just a carry over from my hunting.) I'm not a p.e.t.a. freak, just wanted a "cleaner" kill. I was getting several still alive. With the sharpening, some actual cut in half, the others either die instantly or bleed out. Just make sure to sharpen the outside edges so the blades are still tight against each other.
Thanks for advice. Have the sam trap but not luckey to catch mole. Maybe wrong place tk set - always set on the big pail on dirt. Wilm try to set on active mole track..
Thank you for the video!! Moles have tore up my front and back yard and my flower beds!! Ugghh I Just bought the same trap! Got it at Tractor Supply for $29.00 I had bought a different trap and the first time I set it the welds broke on it, so I exchanged it and paid $5 more for the easy scissor mole trap. I tried tried those stakes that making noise and vibrate, I tried the worm poison, poison pellets and none od them worked!! So, I decided to start whacking a mole!! Or should I say scissor a mole?! 😂 The only thing I'm worried about is that, like your mole, trap may not kill it (but have it trapped) and I have to finish it off.
The devil is in the details. You're right, a straight run is essential. You also need to look for a spot where it looks like the mole is tunneling closer to the surface so that you can be sure the jaws will catch them when they come by. I personally do not tamp the tunnels down around the trap though. I've done this before and it can discourage the moles from re-using that route and possibly cause them to tunnel around or make an entirely new tunnel.
I just bought a couple of these for my yard. (I have the gofer stick too). When I go to put in the scissors trap, the ground is somewhat hard and I'm not able to place the traps. Than I use a rubber mallet to drive the scissors in the ground. So I must be doing something wrong.
THESE THINGS WORK. As the man says, you got to put it in the right spot. You might not want to go not checking your trap for over a week though. Maggots and ants work fast.
I appreciate you making this video. I brought this scissor trap last year and I had no luck. After arching your video I set the trap just like you said. Pow trap went off and I got my first mole. Mole tunnels can cause you to roll an ankle, especially if they dig on inclines or if you're running around in your yard _(playing with dogs or kids or whatever)._ I imagine for people with heavy livestock, like horses or cows, they pose a broken leg risk too. They're a serious pain in the ass and I have a ton of them where I live. If you can't pop it with a .22, trap it.

@@ocrun6765 "Victor Out O'Sight Mole Trap 0631" if you have deeper tunneling moles in my opinion. lots of you tube vids on how to use them effectively.
I have a mole and the same trap.. Can’t catch him. Every morning there is a new mound of dirt.. all the mounds are generally in the same area.. Any tips
I got one similar but I cannot see any runs ever ...all my lawn looks green so I dug a fresh hole one time and set it but got nothing
Mine keep going off without catching anything and I can see where the mole went through the tunnel, I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Put a bunch of pinwheels around the yard the noise reverberates in ground in 1day they all moved out of my yard
Wow ok trying so pinwheels in all the tunnels
Also, bird wheels working too?
great job
why kill a mole that aireates your soil and curious to see the lawn if it has amonia issues
Git out of here with ur monia talk dam liberals gdang enjoy your moles you crack sniffers
@@swankypants6227 They have internet connection in Appalachian caves?
Mole tunnels can cause you to roll an ankle, especially if they dig on inclines or if you're running around in your yard _(playing with dogs or kids or whatever)._ I imagine for people with heavy livestock, like horses or cows, they pose a broken leg risk too. They're a serious pain in the ass and I have a ton of them where I live. If you can't pop it with a .22, trap it.
@@seendon5394 well if you didnt posion them than maybe that bird that died eating that one the issue would of not been so bad.
@@tomahawkmissile241 I have no idea what you wrote. I’ll get the international think tanks on transcribing that right away.
Good video thanks for the tip for catching moles
Awesome product for sure.
But I suck at finding them active tunnels. 😂😭
Great tips! Thanks
