Its amazing how many people are opposed to something until it impacts them directly.

That is, by and large, a symptom of a right-wing mindset. Right-wingers are, for the most part, only able to consider things by how it affects them, and those close to them, personally. You see it over, and over, and over again amongst the right. They scream about the evils of socialized medicine, until they get sick and can't afford proper healthcare. They scream about how drug addicts are all irresponsible dregs that just need to be locked up, until their kid gets hooked on painkillers. They scream about how people struggling with unemployment are lazy freeloaders with poor work ethics, until they get laid off and have trouble finding work. And on, and on, and on... The right-wing brand has "It's different when it affects ME!" printed right on the label.

I see the other side and try to walk in other peoples shoes for every problem I see or disagree with, I don't only care if it affects me nor do most republicans I know. Single payer systems and Obamacare don't work over long periods of time for the exact reasons Paul Ryan laid out, it isn't debatable, it flat out doesn't work. A smart budgeting plan is saving part of your income for emergencies, its what i do, and what most people should do, so if i can't afford some expensive treatment i'll have money saved and if i get laid off then i have money until i find a new job. Drug addiction is a problem, I don't believe that all people should be locked up who do drugs, I believe the ones who sell the drugs to people should be locked up, they are the main problem. "It's different when it affects me" is completely biased, many Left-wingers believe the rich should pay more in taxes, while most already pay over half of their income in taxes. If you were rich and successful would you truly, honestly want to pay over half of your income in taxes towards things in the government that aren't working as they should be? No, you wouldn't. If you made the money then I sure would want to most of it, it is mine isn't it? If i want to help people than i donate to worth-while charities. So you have no argument. Everything you said about right-wingers can be implied to left-wingers too.

*>"I see the other side and try to walk in other peoples shoes for every problem I see or disagree with, I don't only care if it affects me nor do most republicans I know."*
That's what all right-wingers say. Their actions, however, routinely betray their claims.
Sorry, but I've seen it too many times. It's absolutely and inarguably typical of right-wingers. Examples similar to the one in this video are common -- absurdly common -- among the Right. "The ACA is evil incarnate! ...what? I need the ACA? My eyes have been opened! THANK GOD FOR THE ACA!" It's disgustingly typical of the Right.
*>"Single payer systems and Obamacare don't work over long periods of time "*
What's 'a long period of time'? Because it's been working in the UK for almost three quarters of a century. It's been working in Canada for over half a century. In Spain for over half a century. The list goes on. Hell, even Taiwan's single-payer system has been functioning for a generation.
*>"A smart budgeting plan is saving part of your income for emergencies,"*
Yes. Tell that to a single Mom working two jobs and living paycheck to paycheck; juggling bills in order to keep the lights on. "Hey! I know it's tough out there trying to make ends meet. But, hey! If you get hit with a surprise heart condition next year and need $100k for treatment... Well, you should have been putting something away at the end of every month! Fuck feeding your kids and trying to keep the heat on. You're going to have to die now and it's all on you for not being responsible and saving enough."
Maybe you're fortunate enough to be in a position where you can do that. Not everyone is. But, you can't see that because you're a right-winger and are incapable of considerations beyond your own personal sphere of experience. You think "This is what I do -- this is my experience -- and I'm doing ok. So, that should be good enough for everyone." You only truly see the world by how it affects you directly. You can't think beyond your own personal reality bubble.
If circumstances were such that life decides to seriously fuck you over next month, you lose the financial securities you currently have, and then you find out that you're in dire need of healthcare and can't afford it, you'll change your tune. You'll suddenly be able to see why it's important -- the second you desperately need it, you'll be singing the praises of socialized medicine -- because it'll have affected your own personal reality bubble, and that's what the right-wing brain requires in order to make considerations.
Remember all those right-wingers screaming about water-boarding not being torture... until they got waterboarded? Remember Glen Beck screaming about the American healthcare system being the best in the world... until he landed in hospital with serious health issues? Remember Rush Limbaugh crying about drug addicts needing to be thrown in jail and having the key thrown away... until he he got addicted to pain killers? It goes on and on and on, Man. That's how the right-wing brain works. "It's different when it's ME!" It's typical of the Right. It's not typical of the Left.
      *>"No, you wouldn't."*
      So says you.
*>"If i want to help people than i donate to worth-while charities."*
Take a look around you sometime. Relying on the kindness of people to voluntarily donate in order to alleviate the economic problems our society struggles with doesn't work. If it did, that'd be great. I'd be all for it. If it was reasonable to conclude that you could just stop taxing people and enough people would donate enough to charities to tackle the issues we struggle with, then awesome! I'd be cheering it on the loudest. But, the world doesn't work like that. If you leave it up to people to do voluntarily they won't do enough. And, that's easily demonstrable, because this country is full of people who own multiple luxury cars, are living in extravagant houses much larger than they need, are draped in diamonds, gold, and furs -- and there's STILL no shortage of children going to bed hungry, and homeless people dying on the streets.
There wasn't any peace-time income tax in the US prior to 1894 -- and when that tax was introduced, people who earned less than what would be about $100,000.00 in today's money were exempt -- meaning only about 10% of households in the country paid any income tax at all, and it was a flat 2% tax of your gross annual earnings. Do you really think that everybody was so untaxed and had so much money due to it that they all just gave and gave and gave so much that they didn't have poverty related problems back then? Seriously?

Thanks Tyson. Speaking as a former 16 year old I can tell you that no 16 year old really knows shit about anything. But, the fact that you're willing to actually read through such expressions and not immediately skip past it upon seeing a block of text longer than a sentence or two means that you'll almost certainly not be a 26 year old who doesn't know shit about anything. And, that'll be a good place for you to be -- because most 26 year olds don't really know shit about anything either.... along with most 36 year olds, and 46 year olds...

What don't you people understand? That's the answer to what they are going to replace Obamacare with. Stop asking what are the republicans going to replace it with. @Aaron Guerra So your tax payer dollars are going to be paying for other people's healthcare? Isn't that the exact reason why Republicans don't like the idea of socialized healthcare? I'm not opposed to tax money funding high risk pools I'm just in shock that Republicans are both okay with it and even suggesting it. That being said though they've already started the repealing process and have yet to produce a solid, finished, replacement plan, which is why even some Republican senators like Rand Paul didn't vote along with them.

Big ups to everyone working effortlessly trying to earn a living while building wealth. I’m 65 and my husband 68 we are both retired with over $3 million in net worth, with an obama care insurance and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. Saving and investing lifestyle made it possible for us this early even till now we earn monthly through passive income

    • @skoopqueen

There are many lucrative investments out there. I always tell people that saving is good, but investing is best. If you keep your money in the bank, you cannot make profits. You also have to give up a lot when it comes to saving. My advice is that before considering investing, you should consult an investment advisor first so you don't make a mistake or regret it later. I started Investment with the help of a financial expert Regina Louise Collaro , she is quite popular for her services so you might have heard of her. I earn on a monthly basis through passive income with her Financial aid

You are correct skoopqueen, I am only one of many who gained from working with Regina Louise Collaro. I had no reason to live when I lost my job due to COVID in 2020, and it will always be a memorable year in my life. Regina made it possible for me to live comfortably through passive income, thus I owe her my life. To be completely honest, I think she is an angel who was sent to help those who are struggling financially.

The easiest solution is just get everyone under an issuance that they would pay for. The problem is attracting consumers, and getting doctors to participate in the networks.
Another issue is that doctors get to choose if they want to participate with the plan, so it's not just up to getting everyone insured. It's opt-in for both sides. A single payer system would not be feasible unless EVERYONE was on board.
The most immediate solution would to subsidize medical plans to attract consumers and doctors for the start, and then remove state/federal funding after a set time-span so that the insurance is stable. Keeping the plans under a proposed permanent subsidization would only promote inflated costs instead of the plans seeking to find equilibrium.

Because voters like you opposed it in the first place. Take responsibility for your philosophy and own the fact that if it was up to you, you would've been against the affordable care act which has effectively insured so many people. When the republicans repeal it, it won't be their fault, its every single person who supported them. And that's it.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

That 8% figure is not accurate. The number is really between 19% to 50% for people with preexisting conditions. This isn't a new idea. It's been around forever and hasn't worked. Inadequate funding do to poor enrollment, which was due to premiums above 25% of family income for 29% of the medically uninsurable population, coupled with annual caps on plans left these people with poor or no health care. His ability to lie with a straight face amazes me.

Furthermore, why wouldn't any rational doctor take Jeans' money for the treatment (nevermind the fact that he was willing to pay 3x the cost for the treatment). Mark Fernando Because no one was forced to have coverage until the ACA, so Mr. Jeans wanted to save a little extra money because he thought he was healthy. After getting cancer, health insurance companies wouldn't accept him because of his pre-existing condition, but the ACA did.

When England and other countries started their healthcare it was rocky in the beginning. Obama has said from the beginning that it would need to be worked on over time and asked....begged for constructive, input that would make it better. They undermined him on everything. So okay let them fix it and make it better. Good. However he will always and forever be the one that began the process nationwide. Someone had to start. That's the problem they hate that he is getting the credit.
As for that guy I praise him for his honesty and coming forward. However, so many of us are like that we are selfish, we don't realize the good in something until it affects OUR LIVES, if we are healthy and fine, we don't want it, we don't need it, so oppose it. Who cares about our fellow citizens. Selfishness can literally kill you, because we forget ourselves in the future, health changes, circumstances changes, life changes. We ALL NEED Affordable healthcare, someday, the old way you could not get health insurance the day you got sick. And it shouldn't be tied to your employer, if you are laid-off or fired, or resigned and then develop cancer! You are dead! Charities? No. Why can't people see this, see pass themselves, for others, if not others, themselves in the future?
That is why if you have the power to do good and right that benefits many, do it. Even when others oppose you, because it might just save their lives.-Debbie Crawford

It sounds good but makes no sense. He talks about separating the high risk people into a different pool. That isn't necessarily contrary to Obamacare. The crux of Obamacare is the individual mandate. You can't make any insurance cheap for everyone if you don't mandate people to buy it. Even if he separated the 8%, the task payers will still be stuck with the bill. Obamacare transferred the bill to the people using it but he seems to be transferring the bill to the tax payers

Is the cost of treatment for 8% of folks in a given location with high-risk conditions so great that it ballons service costs for the entire pool of millions of other participants and their premiums? I would think if the cost are partly offset by other subscribers, it would be a marginal increase. Has there been any meaningful progress made in hospitals over inflating service charges or falsely billing patients? What about improvements in medical technology and services in reducing overhead? - has to be an interest in promoting effencies and standards that lead to effective patient treatment in US health care facilities.

      John 3:16-21

So if I am understanding this correctly, he essentially wants to create a high risk pool that is subsidized by the tax payers. If he actually does this, then it would accomplish almost the exact same thing, except the competition of the free market wouldn't bargain prices, so one could only expect that states will have to do huge payouts in order to meet the promise they made to a high risk population. Of course this is a republican state, we can expect that they'll just leave this high risk pool with most of the costs. I don't understand, either way we're going to pay for it. And since this a republican saying this, the rich aren't going to subsidize this either, so who is going to pay for the high risk pool? Again, I assume, as many republicans do, that they'll just leave these people high and dry. Giving meager financial support and essentially leaving them insurance less. Oh btw, insurance companies won't lower their rates either :P insurance is inelastic, they'll just make their catastrophe plans super cheap (now that obama care is gone there are no standards for what plans must include), and then make any real health insurance expensive.

  • @scrtr

So that was just a lie. HIGH RISK POOLS means that because you are a HIGH RISK they pool you and seel you in a package with mostly healthy people. HIGH RISK means that you have a pre-existing, and insurance companies pulled out because they did not want to insure you because the demographic for the area was more HIGH RISK.
BTW, My Aunt works for one of the insurance companies he named and stated that the reason they pulled out of ACA was that they dealt primarily with CORPORATE AGREEMENTS only which are more lucrative and cost effective as employers offer you WHAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY GIVES YOU TO SELECT FROM not what you need, so the deductibles are the same price!!!!
ACA's coverage of pre-existing conditions made high-risk pools obsolete. Will they be resurrected as an Obamacare replacement?

+InsideOutBH .... No I do not think its fair for a low risk person to pay a higher rate, but that is the rub. you are based not only on your health but on your AGE. As you age you become a HIGHER risk to all insurance companies. I am healthy, have no chronic illness, have never smoked, no heart issues, absolutely nothing, but guess what, I pay 3x as much... is that fair??

I'll give you guys a personal Canadian healthcare story as a contrast. In our family we had a super scary incident at our house one night, and our then 14 year old son ended up in the intensive care/critical care pediatric neurology unit. Every minute throughout this incident was critical to his outcome. We had multiple top experts in pediatric neurology, multiple MRI scans, many diagnostics, five days in a private intensive care hospital room, and actually years of amazing follow-up care. It was all the best, most timely care imaginable, involving many renowned medical people and many hospital resources. And the level of genuine caring attitudes has also been amazing. Our total bill for all of this? $0.00 No insurance forms, no pre-existing condition clauses, nothing. As citizens, we automatically have guaranteed full care. Always. And on a larger scale, while our system can still get better, for every $1.00 of spending for a unit of care in Canada, the American system has to pay $2.00 In other words, your system is twice as expensive as ours. These figures come from internationally respected economic research think tanks. And please save the socialist comments. Canada in fact is one of the most robust centrist (neither left nor right) capitalistic democracies in the world. For many, many reasons, we love Canada. I am Canadian but I grew up in America for many years(Washington D.C.). I love America as well, but I'm thinking you could look north for an idea or two!

I remember what healthcare was like in the 80s, 90s and 2000s before the Affordable Care act. I remember not being able to get health insurance with a new carrier because I had a pre-existing condition they would not cover
Health insurance companies ruled with an iron fist, made their own rules and denied coverage in horrible inhumane ways. Now you cannot be denied coverage on pre-existing conditions, and care is more affordable than it ever has been. I think there are flaws, but we are closer to good than we ever have been - and with some tweaks things can get better. These companies had been reaping too much treasure without enough payout for the people who made them rich. That was wrong and we cannot go back to the way it was.
