I simp for and kin Kokichi so chapter 5 made me wanna stop playing the game but I didn't. I made my own AU called the simulation AU. This AU basically is where Danganronpa was a simulation so that everyone survived. I made this so that the people I like (In every game) Survived.
Quick side note: English isn't my first language, so I apologize if my grammar is questionable!! I also apologize if how I describe the characters isn't exactly the same as they act in the English version of Danganronpa since I only ever got around to watching some of the English version, and watched the rest in Japanese since it was easier for me. ALSO THIS IS SUPER LONG AND I'M SO SORRY. ~ In the description, you said you'd want advice to make the characters personalities more "canon". Well, I'm here to kind of help! By far the hardest to characterize are the two antags (Komaeda & Ouma.) With them, typically the first step to getting their characters more "correct" (per se) is to read analyses on their personalities. But I'll touch on the main parts of their personalities! First, Ouma. So, Ouma's character is based around lies/lying. In the Japanese version, he speaks in a type of kanji referred to as chuunibyou ("chuunibyou (中二病) is a derrogative colloquial term in the Japanese language used to describe a person which manifests delusional behavior, particularly thinking that one has special powers that no other person has.") Which is backed up by how he claims to have an "evil organization" that has 10,000 members in it. Normally, it'd be hard to like anyone who acts like that, and the other characters would be weirded out by Ouma (much like how the SDR2 kids were scared of Komaeda.) However, Ouma has a lot of childish antics that makes him (as Saihara describes it) "hard to hate". He pretty much just tells lies to distract the group from what he's actually planning on doing-- which is a main part of his personality (which I don't think would be important for this, unless there's some underlying secret or smth.) I think that's all you really need to know to characterize him? But if you want to go above and beyond, character analyses are your best bet! Note- I'd recommend making Ouma sound more "chaotic" than the others, if you get what I mean!!!! He has a different speech pattern than most. Next is Komaeda. Basically, he's made to be the "dark side of hope", since he parallels Naegi [Makoto]. He is meant to be morally grey, and that's very important to his character. His illness is important to how he acts, though. Frontotemporal dementia is the illness he claims to have in his 5 FTE, which I'm sure if you've read just about anything about Komaeda, you have a basic understanding of what that is. Also, due to his mental illness, he has trouble knowing when people are being sarcastic with him or not (which, alternatively, he sounds sarcastic at times when he isn't trying to, and is being genuine.) To back up the idea of Komaeda having no awareness of sarcasm, during chapter 3 when he has the despair disease and Tsumiki notes that he seems 'clean', Komaeda responds with something along the lines of 'nobody's ever complimented me on how I look before!'. Or during trial 2 when Kuzuryu says that Komaeda has a 'winning personality' and Komaeda asks if that's a compliment; which Kuzuryu quickly says the he was was being sarcastic. To add onto what his dementia does to Komaeda's thought process, there's the whole hope obsession. I'm assuming Komaeda needed to believe in the /idea/ of hope so that he could keep living. However, his dementia turned it into a (REALLY EXTREME) obsession. He also tends to say things at the wrong times because there is literally nothing in his brain that tells him 'no, it isn't the right time to say this'. Which of course doesn't excuse his actions, but explains them, I suppose. KGKSGSKNGS I need a break, so Hinata. Uh. Sassy teenager???? He's pretty much normal when it comes to his personality. I haven't looked into his character very much, so that may just be a me thing. Sorry I don't really have much to say here! I think pretty much any characterization works with him, a lot like it does with Naegi [Makoto]. Aaaand, last but not least, Saihara. A lot of people just characterize him as 'easily flustered emo boy', and I don't really think that's entirely correct. In chapter 1, yes, it would be correct: but by the end of the killing game, not so much. Despite the typical representation of Saihara that I don't generally agree with, I do agree with the idea of him having low self-esteem, because it does lead into how he reacts to trials, and the others' FTEs. Anyway uh yeah, my fingers hurt so I'm going to stop there. I hope I was kind of helpful??? I apologize for putting an essay in your comments after this video was up for like, more than a week.
