ASMR | N64 Controller Steel Bowl Installation [Soft Spoken]

- Today we're replacing the OEM plastic bowl inside my N64 controller with a steel bowl from SteelSticks64. This OEM module had previously been refurbished and is actually in very good condition, but with time will eventually degrade and turn to dust (literally). By replacing the bowl, we can prevent this degradation and ensure it stays in tip top shape! With the occasional maintenance and lubrication, this module should remain reliable f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

What is ASMR and WHY?!
From Wikipedia -- Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), sometimes auto sensory meridian response, is a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia, it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson.
From me -- Basically, these videos help people relax or even fall asleep. There are plenty of different ways to induce ASMR using either auditory or visual stimuli, but most you will experience on this channel is auditory. The community is huge and amazing and you should explore the vastness of what it has to offer and find out what triggers work for you!

Educational and I liked the blue lighting from the front! 😊 The screwdriver and the button sounds were subtle but so relaxing!
Isn't that blue lighting awesome? It was coming from my computer screen and I didn't notice until at one point in the middle it turns off and I was like, "WHY DOES EVERYTHING LOOK UGLY ALL THR SUDDEN" hahahah. I edited that out. Lighting is really a powerful tool!

You were actually the one who exposed me to the steel bowls/sticks from your first video about the Prestige Stick. I got the notification for when this order was in stock but by the time I pulled it up in my cart they were gone. I'll get one eventually lol.
Oof it's often a loooong time between availability gotta set those notifications on ambulance siren mode. Prestige went under and refunded basically all the modules after me, I was like 1 or 20 people that got one. New guy @nomadstick on twitter might be worth paying attention to... And el_man_ton always pops up with interesting stuff now and then. Good luck man!!

I have a couple controllers from eBay with really good OEM parts but I'm afraid to use them lol. The rest are from my childhood so I'll need some new sticks and gears for those too. I will check out nomadstick and el_man_ton, thanks!

Thank you dude, I've been trying really hard the last few weeks to give the channel a push.
Don't forget to LUBE those OEM puppies up!! Not toooo much or it'll get all stuck, but a little dab of super lube on the plastic parts that rub against one another and they'll last a a long time. But don't be afraid to use them or you never will! Just don't throw bowser too aggressively or ever play any mario party mini games 😂

Very original! You already manage to do some pending cleaning work while you record your video. very productive. In Spain there is an expression (to kill two birds with one stone) this expression is said when we do several things at the same time, saving time. congratulations! great video because you teach us to repair too. I loved seeing and hearing. relaxing for an amateur gamer.

Funtastic grape has been up next on my list for a bit now but great video I was curious about assembly with the gears cause I haven’t opened an oem thumb stick but you cleared up any confusion with that 👍 only thing is I had to watch this video with the volume all the way up 😂

Hello, Thanks for the tutorial, however im finding trouble After installing the bowl, like when i put my stick on down notch for exemple, values are like 80 down, and 6 left, which is a bit annoying for tricks like canonless etc because when i dont go exactly on the right spot it Can go a bit further to the left, what causes this ? Thanks again
hey clementlebro -- not sure what bowl and stick combo you're usuing but it sounds like something in your unit is off! If the bowl is new... and you're using a stick with a nib that hasn't been worn down... The only other cause I would be able to think of is that you're using gears that have been broken in too much. The mouth in the gears gets too wide after years of jerking the stick around. See if you can get some fresh replacement gears, hopefully that helps!
@@ASMR64 i used another controler than the one i planned to install the bowl at first, and then it worked perfectly fine !

Great video! Just ordered 3 grade A bowls for myself today! How’s the performance of your joystick now and will they last a long time without wearing?
Damn I missed the most recent drop! The performance is amazing. As long as you're using a stick without any degradation, it's going to perform like a brand new module, and as long as you keep it greased it's going to stay that way, unless you use it for competitive play then I would imagine (over a very long period of time) you'll start seeing some wear and will need to replace the stick MAYBE, but it's the plastic on plastic that causes the real problem, it should stay in good shape if you maintain it! Just don't over-grease it or it'll feel sluggish 😁
