  • Welcome to our video overview of "Spacehawk" by Basil Wolverton, published by Fantagraphics Books on December 7, 2012. This comprehensive collection spans 274 pages, bringing together the complete adventures of Wolverton's legendary costumed crusader.
Basil Wolverton is celebrated as one of the most unique and talented artists in comic book history. Known for his grotesque humor in MAD magazine, Wolverton's work on Spacehawk has been highly anticipated by fans.
For the first time, every Spacehawk story is collected in one volume, from his intergalactic debut in 1940 to his final Nazi-crushing adventure in 1942. This collection is a must-have for comic enthusiasts and fans of classic science fiction.
Unlike typical superheroes, Spacehawk had no secret identity, fixed base, sidekicks, or love interests. His sole mission was to protect the innocent and punish the guilty across the Solar System. The stories are filled with Wolverton's distinctive style, featuring controlled, organic artwork, repulsive aliens, bizarre planets, and gruesome retribution. Spacehawk is a visually playful yet dark counterpart to characters like Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon.
