Yes; I'm so used to using practice mutes (when I'm on the road) that I almost scared myself with the sound from the bucket mute. Wow; the sound shoots back at you so fast... :) Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
That is a great question. I recorded this in my bedroom; heavy carpet, pad, mattresses and lots of cloth (curtains, bedspread, etc.) so the sound is VERY dead. In a larger room or hall, though, a mute sound can carry surprisingly far. Not sure how to eliminate the echo or carrying factor of the sound.
@@ivanluna7332 It really depends on your acoustics. If you play in a soft room, aka lots of carpet or a closet with lots of clothes/tarps lining the walls, it'll sound much softer and echo less. Compared to a bathroom or empty room which will sound very reverb-heavy.
Thanks for this great informative video! Gotta love the bright and piercing sound of the first straight mute you showed.

Thx so much your videos are always appreciated 🎺
Kind of you, Paul; as always. :)
I wanna buy a cornet but am slightly worried about mutes that fit it's bell. It's 119mm (4-2/3")
Hello, Teuca. Some cornets I’ve had were smaller belled, but if yours is 4-2/3”, I’d think they’d fit? That’s just a bit smaller?
How do make a mute trumpet not echo

@@JonathanMilam1 its been a which but which one is 5:40? thx!
Tom Crown was my favorite
And it's not a cheap mute. As simple as it is I think it retails for over $50. I need to get in the mute business... :)
