good to see back up and running very good.. love your work. hoverguard 800 gold coast was my craft , sold to somewone in cairns 12 years ago, l'm still paying of the fuel bill 350 chev wide open
Great to see you back flying James. All flying well again by the looks of it. 😊 Is there any downside to flying with just rudder, if building another from scratch is there any part of you that would want Ailerons? I'm starting to think just rudder is the way to go.
@@TROUROCKS Hi, there are people who seem to be building or seriously considering it. Few would go all the way though and most wouldn't get past the design phase. You have to be lucky enough to be in a position to take on such a project. You need lots of time, space, finances, drive and the expertise to build. Where you live also plays a part, availability of materials is another stumbling block. How's your project going ?
There is pretty much no yaw felt when flying. When making a large correction due to a gust is the only time you feel a little yaw. In the video you are seeing a 15kt gusting 25kt wind I am flying in. Elevons would not affect setup time which is good but it would increase complexity increasing the chance of things going wrong. I also believe that there would not be enough of a moment to allow any kind of useful control with elevons. Interesting idea though
It's an interesting opinion in regards to helmets. You don't see many people operating boats or aircraft with helmets so why a ground effect craft!! I choose not to for a few reasons. I prefer unobstructed visibility while operating this craft, prefer the feel of being in the open air and the risk of sudden catastrophic impact is low given the attitude that it flys at.
@@Ground-Effect You do see test pilots and bush pilots wearing helmets, and if there ever was a test pilot for a bush plane of the sea... that'd be you mate! You see some riders never wear gear or helmet on a motorcycle and others are all gear all the time. Wearing a helmet is like wearing a rubber, once you've been there without one, it's a tuff sell... but when it happens without one, there's no going back.
l agree with both angles for & against, compromise reasonably compact non motorsport car/bike but maintaining some protection, keep wind in the face & waterproof , try ski snowboard or some other...
james please .. can u give us a shot of ur stick inputs and movements
Glad you are back in the air so quickly. Enjoy your summer down under.
It's getting hot!

All that yawing about from using rudder only...
Had you thought of putting elevons on the tail?
