I have to say as a fragrance reviewer I was so impressed with your video. You certainly did your homework on the fragrances and the olfactory world. Bravo. I linked this video on my most recent review and gave you a shout-out when I talked about Floris No.89 in my review. So here is hoping some of my subscribers will find your amazing channel and enjoy it as much as I have over the past few years. Cheers David from another Bond fan.
Awesome vid! I've been using a carry-on-sized John Varvatos cologne and spraying a handkerchief to put in my travel suitcase, thanks to your packing vlog. Thanks for explaining all these other literary 007 brands...thinking of ordering Floris No. 89 in the next few months
Great reviews Only thing you forgot to mention that in novel From Russia With Love Tatiana ask Bond why Englishmen dont wear cologne, he replies that they wash. And Floris bath essence is mentioned a few times througout other novels. Maybe this means that James Bond only use Floris bath essence for fragrance.
Great video! For years I wore the 007 brand cologne, specifically the Casino, Quantum, and most recently Seven, they were very potent! Once the Taylors of Old Bond Street Jermyn St was identified and I picked up a bottle, I never went back! Jermyn St is a fantastic, subtle, masculine scent. I ended up going full kit with cologne, aftershave, and matching shave soap. A little heads up if you have the SA shave bowl, the Jermyn St soap refills are smaller than the Eucris, and require melting to fit properly
IMightBeWrong All the contents of the Skyfall shave kit were identified by WhatsDanielWearing at I believe an Omega boutique or an auction. It’s part of the kit David received for his birthday. He has an excellent vlog about it. You can also find the fine details on the JamesBondLifestyle website
Another great video David! This inspired me to rethink my personal choice of cologne. I visited Neiman Marcus’s Tom Ford fragrance boutique, and settled on Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather. Tobacco Vanille was pleasant as well, and will soon join my rotation too. This was my first Bond-brand experience! Should come in handy as I meet with prospective marketing clients throughout the year. Happy New Year to all from Station M “Michigan.”
Bergamot is a wonderful scent, and it comes from a type of bitter orange. Have you ever had Earl Grey tea? That's probably the most common place to find bergamot. I know tea isn't part of the Bond lifestyle, but it's a large part of mine. Bergamot is also very common in summer fragrances, and I love it in Floris' Bergamotto di Positano. Tom Ford also has the excellent Venetian Bergamot fragrance.
I've been trying samples lately to find a scent my wife enjoys as much as I do. So far the Tom Ford Noir has had the most favorable response from both of us. Still looking for a summer scent.
Roja Elysium is pretty much the best a man can get, in the warmer months.. I suggest Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa.. one of the most elegant scents with Italian flair and a playful personality, matched with pure masculine charm.
Great video David, you probably knew this was coming, but if I remember correctly from the books, when asked in the novels, Fleming wrote in FRWL that Bond did not wear cologne, “he bathed” as he told Tatiana. But the Bond Ladies always had perfume on them. Anyway, not trying to split hairs, cause I love your videos, can’t wait for the next one!!! I’m half asleep so if I missed this in the video I apologize.
In the movie « on her majesty secret service » Bond on the balcony notice the girl’s perfume which is L’heure bleue de Guerlain. In the books, if I recall Diorissimo by Dior and Vent Vert by Balmain were mentioned.
I understand that Floris is very happy with the "Bond connection" however, the fable that Bond wears Floris no 89 was created by GQ in 1996 and has been repeated over and over again by other people. Floris might want to send a thank you letter to GQ because a lot of Bond collectors have a bottle of No.89 on their shelves as being ‘Bond’s choice’. However, nowhere in the books does Fleming mention this. Moreover, in From Russia With Love Tatiana grumbles that British men don’t wear colognes. Bond retorts: “We wash”. All in all, this is one of those things that are accepted as truth because it has been repeated over and over again. I'm glad you didn't make the same mistake.
Yes, there is a Bond connection, I am not denying that, Floris Limes Bath Essence is in the bathroom of Dr No's "mink-lined prison", for instance. What I am saying is that a lot of times people insist that Fleming wrote that Bond wears Floris no 89. And that is just not true. I also compliment David on not making that same mistake so I really don't see the point of your comment.....
I can understand why people believe that, Fleming himself wore no.89 and often used his own preferences for bond, like his cigarettes, clothing preferences and his watch
@@pumpkin91ful exactly. Eucris by Geo F Trumper was what Sean Connery wore in his Bond movies. Not sure if that brand was shown in one of his Bond movies but I heard this mentioned before. The 007 cologne has been my signature scent for six years now. It mixes extremely well with my body chemistry and I always get complements for the scent. Fragrances always come down to body chemistry. Unfortunately the manufacturer has discontinued this particular fragrance in favor of quantum and a few other newer versions. So I have been stockpiling 007 for about a year now and I have about 10 years worth. When it finally runs out I’m going to be very disappointed!
