    Wow great find! I am building my garage gym, and mirrors were the final piece of the puzzle. I ordered 4 of the mirrors, 2 J-Molds, and an extra pack of Mirror Brackets with drywall anchors. Thanks again!

    This is the way to go.
    I once did this with the narrow $10 mirrors and it was a pain using 4 clips per mirror times 10 or so mirrors. Using the right hardware is important. The J-molding was a clever fix!
    You have a good eye for gym aesthetics.

  • @jr.sciencebros.8411

    Just did this project with 2 of those exact mirrors side-by-side and 72" J molding. However, I used a stud finder to anchor the J molding and top clips to the studs. I didn't even bother to use clips for the sides because the mirrors are stable enough and more holes in the wall was unnecessary.

      Nice bro, should hold well!

    • @daviduriarte3399
      @daviduriarte3399 2 роки тому

      The J Moulding says it supports up to 50LBS. 2 mirrors weigh 66LBS. Have you had any issues? I plan to use 1 J molding strip, 2 60x36 mirrors and mirror adhesive to the wall. No clips.

    • @jr.sciencebros.8411
      @jr.sciencebros.8411 2 роки тому +1

      @@daviduriarte3399 No issues whatsoever for the past 2 years. I've never used mirror adhesive so I don't know how strong it is, but I didn't want to ruin my wall like that. If you're concerned it's not strong enough, I would recommend securing the top with 3 clips total (1 on each edge and 1 shared between the 2 mirrors in the middle. They probably don't need to be drilled into studs if you're already using mirror adhesive.

    Thanks for the video. Planning to do the same. You could have just put the clips which came on on studs directly. If they are 3 ft wide their must be at least two studs to put the clip in.

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  3 роки тому

      I actually did put them where studs were for most part, but screws not very deep and hardly goes into wood so I added extras.

    We were looking everywhere for a mirror and finally found these at Home Depot. But still had a question about how to install. Then I ran into your video and it really helped us decide what to buy and how to go about installation in our gym room. Thank you for posting this! Your gym looks incredible. Ours will be a combo of Boxing/Muay Thai/Zumba gym. These mirrors will help with form and also make the small room look bigger. Thanks again!

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  3 роки тому +2

      Nice bro it's pretty simple. Just Measure the width total of the mirrors you will put up and then cut the j mold at that length if needed. Then measure the height you want the top at and mark it and then mark the bottom where the j mold will go. Use a level so you can get the j mold straight and then start nailing it in or screwing it in. Then put mirror on top and hold it while you screw in the mirror clips. Make sure it's holding up well, add extra clips if needed and you should be go to go :)

    heads up that the mirrors listed here are .15 inches, however the anchors/mounts recommended are for .25 thickness mirror. be careful on that. Lowes has a .25 mirror at the same price but whether you want the added weight when hanging is a question to consider.

    • @tradermos1851
      @tradermos1851 3 роки тому

      Saw the thicker lowes mirror too which is 50lbs vs. this home depot one that is 30lbs. Is there any advantage going with the lowes one?

  • @heyheythecat
    @heyheythecat 3 роки тому +1

    I did the same setup at home, like a dance studio. The issue I have is even tho the mirrors are flush next to one another, the reflection won't be as flush (this is especially visible in the video between 2nd and 3rd mirrors, same issue with mine.) I think probably due to thinness of these mirrors (1/8"). However the incredibly cheap price justifies the purchase.

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  3 роки тому +2

      Maybe try putting some kind of glue to hold it tighter to wall in middle, that should help. Mine look plenty good for my use, but if you want closer to perfection you’d have to get those thick really big mirror which would obviously cost a lot more but that’s the next option I know of.

    We are a little concerned about the sturdiness of the plywood wall in our basement that we want to attach these to. Do you think they would be fine resting on the ground and anchored to the wall? What would be your recommendation?

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  3 роки тому

      They are very light so your plywood wall should hold it easily. The only thing is you want them to be in straight and flat position as much as possible because the mirrors aren’t super thick and if they get a bend in them it can distort the reflection image.

    Hey Matt, great review videos. Subscribed. A quick Question, i am 6'1, 195 pounds. I was thinking about buying the Ironmaster super bench Pro with many accessories (leg accessory for the decline, incline seat, chin up bar, the 12.25 inch pad, the cable tower and the lat row leg handle as well). What do you think about Iron Master super Bench pro along with those accesories ? I am not that huge into lifting heavy, can go up to 225 on the incline for a few reps and the same on flat and decline. Is this sufficient enough ? I looked up Rep AB and FBs but they are always out of stock and the rogue are too one dimensional.

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  4 роки тому +1

      Hey John, I think the Iron Master Super Bench pro is very interesting. It's a little funky in my opinion, but think it can work very well for people who just want a mini gym all focused around their bench. I personally think something like the Inspire Fitness FT2 with the bench and leg attachment is much better, but Obviously costs quiet a bit more. All those attachments for the ironmaster bench would take up a good amount of space and I feel the FT2 wouldn't take up much more and be able to do a ton more exercises. Or the scs bench with leg attachment and preacher curl plus a power rack would be amazing setup. I personally have not used the Iron Master bench yet, but that's my opinion based on what I've seen and experienced. Also not sure how stable the bench is with those attachments. Could be a pretty cool option for some though

      With the J mold on the bottom I used about 5-6 anchors per mirror.

    Not sure you covered this but will this work for a taller guy say 6'1?

      I’d watch the full video again, I explain and demonstrate it for a visual. I’m 6’1 also and yes it does

      I’d try calling a few locations. After gyms closed demand went way up.

    Assembly by myself was not too hard. I took my time and followed the diagrams. I particularly like the pictures and names of the exercises organized by muscle groups on the front of the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxKJHyBZ9I1py9vVi-XLpEBg0y-qmdhn3q . Considering the number of exercises it has a relatively small footprint. I needed a machine that was not too tall because I only have 79" headroom in my cabin and this was just over 78". It is easy to use, seems to be well made, and I am pleased with my purchase. I am doing upper body muscles on Monday and Thursday. Lower body exercises are being done on Tuesday and Friday. Not using it on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am a reasonably fit 66 year old man and this is a great workout.

    Mirrors shouldn’t be in gyms. They mess up your form and neck position.

    • @MattTolbers
      @MattTolbers  4 роки тому

      Lol I haven't experienced that, it's actually helped me keep form. Most lifts I don't focus on mirrors though.
