I can understand why the olympians at the time would be upset - they’ve been studying, living, and breathing their craft for their entire lives, and here comes this nobody who seemingly on a whim, decides he wants to be a ski jumper, and takes all of the attention away from them. I can see them thinking he was making a mockery of the sport and the olympics. BUT, he is the embodiment of the Olympic spirit.
