I've learned a lot from Flakes about being patient and appreciate the ground plays but I gotta say I cheer to the pros who push the limits of the game like Dark.
Everybody relies on opponents to make a mistake. If no opposition made a mistake the game would be drawn 0-0. The game is about who is better at punishing the others mistakes. The better punisher wins. Simple.
If you ever hear Flakes explain the game and his thoughts, you'll hear him say: "Let him touch the ball, because it doesn't do anything" a lot. At 35:30 you can see that he forces Dark to use up all of his boost to keep the ball from falling into Flakes' hands, but all it does is put him into an even worse situation, where he just leaves the ball in the midfield and has to back off to grab some pads. Flakes keeps doing the same until at 35:43 Dark finally gives away full possession. Edit: Also, imagine what Flakes could do if he actually gets consistent with his flicks or if he finds teammates who play the same way. RLCS would change completely.
You also know that flakes is insane with mechanics, can do multiple resets, can easily do doubles, can easily flick etc. I think that swtiching cars he messes up his flicks cause of their different hitboxes sometimes, or just a mistake of the moment, he usually is very consistent

Hes a excellent tip, you can play hyper mechanical only when you know you will need to lose possession or when the enemy team cant punish you. Maybe 75% flakes and 25% dark is the best way to play rocket league
Sure Flakes isn’t as mechanical, but he uses a Gizmo with most ridiculous accessories, uses simple and effective playstyles and wins.. there is nothing to argue about that

Amazing game! Awesome performances from both players. Been a Flakes fan for some time now. Gotta re watch his old 1v1 vids and get back on the grind myself. GG's
What people don't here understand is that Flakes is smart but VERY VERY mechanical. IMO nothing is more mechanical than having 100% control over the fundamentals. Literally no one has better control of the fundamentals than Flakes. He aims his flicks so that they can imitate his powerslide cuts. I don't think people realize how much mastery this takes.
Thankfully that’s just your opinion on mechanics as a whole and no one else’s because it’s wrong in many ways. What you’re referring to is knowledge and overall game sense, a deep understanding of how the game flows.
@@anonymousbanana204 No, it's not. If you watched him beat FirstKiller during FK's peak, you'd understand. @@clows7590 I haven't been watching 1v1s as much as I used to, but it's true I swear I only ever see Dark lose and people are talking about how he's near top 10/5. I think DrKnown has more potential to become a top 1v1 player in time, but is 13 so he'll probably take a while still
He has not fully integrated the zap dashes. He's still experimenting with them. A few times he tried it offensively and it didn't pay off. He was also more bold with his down field pressure, believing if he executed the dashes correctly he'd get back in time. Give him 4 mote months using them to find their most efficient uses and he will win in a rematch.

@@crislucilfer5605 no whats weird is playing a video game cringe and having fun...🤦🏾
I played using flakes play style and went from diamond 3 in 1s to gc1. In 3 days. I use to play very mechanically which causes me to loose possession of the ball and end up getting scored on.
Hes a excellent tip, you can play hyper mechanical only when you know you will need to lose possession or when the enemy team cant punish you.
Maybe 75% flakes and 25% dark is the best way to play rocket league
Sure Flakes isn’t as mechanical, but he uses a Gizmo with most ridiculous accessories, uses simple and effective playstyles and wins.. there is nothing to argue about that
The kick off game is insane 😂
37:28 feel like this is an underrated moment. How the hell does he chase that down to powerslide all around it AND get the shot off on target with that much power?? Lethal.
Love watching Flakes' play style work at the highest level
This is really cool watching these 2 play, very nice vid and very nice commentary!
Amazing game! Awesome performances from both players. Been a Flakes fan for some time now. Gotta re watch his old 1v1 vids and get back on the grind myself. GG's
The fact that even after flakes won he still gave dark the money was just sheer kindness
Truly The Chad Of Rocket League
It's being able to string together the most basic mechanics and practicing that over and over. I'm a boxer and competition-level pianist. I understand the idea of fundamental mechanics. Flakes has excellent control and ability to string together the most basic functions of the game. But this isn't even worth arguing over and you're a year too late, so I'll agree to disagree.
@@HaischkaEST "I'm a boxer and competition-level pianist" do you smoke cigarettes bud? maybe you should start.
@@augustshades Do you think? You should start, instead of replying to year old UA-cam comments.
@@HaischkaEST ""I'm a boxer and competition-level pianist" no dude im busy boxing. And im busy with my comp level piano play.
thanks.
Flakes, and I say this with admiration, reminds me of an AI trained to only do what's the most efficient and lowest risk play.
Flakes always been one of my favorite players since day one. Glad to see him take this one.
Awesome thumbnail btw; showing Flakes strategizing and Dark being mechanical in one image without text is pretty cool!
34:16 if dark knew when to stop pushing setups that are off point like this, he'd be the best in the world
flake got dat drip
Flakes positioning and boost stealing is still the best in the game. Even after all these years. Simply ridiculous. Great games!
30:45 was nuts dude
Flakes looking like a modern fairy peak with the boost control and constant pressure. Only instead of firing at the back board he's just trying to juke you.
nice gesture by Flakes, the world needs more guy like him ;)
Never clicked so fast for a matchup in my life haha
Both of these guys are insanely good. That was exhausting to watch lol
literally my two favourite players of all time, I love to watch both of them
I feel like flakes no-nonsense technique can outplay dark’s flashiness most of the time
Flakes was doing this to prove a point, if he wanted to use mechanics he would've
The matchup we all needed
Flakes is doing exactly what he does in Road to SSL with No Mechanics and it’s honestly amazing
It’s kinda happy to see them oppose each other, even more when they’re teammates
People act like flakes saving the shot in game 3 with the respawn is like a super lucky 0.001% chance. Give the man some credit.
I love watching flakes play the lack of high lvl mechanics makes him look like he is playing in one of my lobbies but then he has phenomenal game sense that allows him to play and beat other pros even in 1v1s
Flakes coming back to literally around 50 new mechanics/possibility’s and a generally more mechanical way of playing since when he consistently played last and still keeping up with the new prodigy’s is a level above insane
This highlights the urgent need for Epic to include decent game iq tutorials rather than just telling you how to hit the ball.
If they do that it'll also sort out their ranked problem to a large degree.
Wasn't expecting that.
I was totally expecting flakes win, since Dark only take L's 😔
@@clows7590 I haven't been watching 1v1s as much as I used to, but it's true I swear I only ever see Dark lose and people are talking about how he's near top 10/5. His mechanics are insane sure, but wins is what put you at the top. Anyway, he's started recently maybe he just needs time to improve. I think DrKnown has more potential to become a top 1v1 player in time, but is 13 so he'll probably take a while still
I was, not cuz Dark is super bad, he's not, but because Flakes is insane with the mind games
Sure the way Flakes plays isn't the most flashy, but damn is he consistent. And I appreciate anyone who doesn't use the same 3 cars
13:12 was a cool and creative touch
He has not fully integrated the zap dashes. He's still experimenting with them. A few times he tried it offensively and it didn't pay off. He was also more bold with his down field pressure, believing if he executed the dashes correctly he'd get back in time. Give him 4 mote months using them to find their most efficient uses and he will win in a rematch.
15:11 the first few goals from game 3 are 🔥🔥🔥🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
flakes with the drip as usual
Flakes is A LEGEND. FUCK YES. LOVE THIS.
This was one of the more interesting show matches I've seen.
Love Flakes. Let's goooo
So fundamentally sound
I love to see dark playing, outstanding moves, really satisfying. But flakes man... flakes is just too good, if he never misses what he wanted to do and had a computer brain, I'd say he would be near perfect
Feer sounds like Johnny boi without the accent
Dark has mastered flying but flakes has mastered steering
cringe

gotta watch more of flakes. Him and I have a very similar playstyle, but he's a little more talented. Maybe I can learn something from him. Gotta admit, loved watching a player who gets shut down because they all the have is an aerial game. The chat wasn't liking Flakes, which just proves you don't understand what he was doing. He was smart with the ball all series. Fantastic games..ggs
it's so funny how many people don't know flakes is a good player
14:50 he still got it bruh!
Your mom can't powerslide cut like flakes!
Dark has pogo style. Flakes has slide cut plus great attitude...nice flakes!!
I want more Flakes
Definitely one of my favorite matchups!
