Your advices and clear explanations are perfect ! You speak exactly the same musical language that I do... I am a selftaught pianist and I totaly agree with you when you recommand to learn and master the chords in the very beginning ... that's the key ! Once every chordshape is known the keyboard appears less frightening ! Best regards from France !

Yes, you can apply the same principle to inversions, let's say you are playing C in first inversion. E G C - then you can cover notes, D, E, F, G, C (maybe even add A) it's trickier but that's how you would do it.

Hello Tom. Thanks for a great video. I've just enrolled in your "Complete Musician" course, and I'm very excited for it to start!
A question: When you really started to "get going" with the last demo, at about 14:30, I noticed you starting to do some more funky things in your left hand. I'm always bored by my own left hand technique - I largely just rock up and down on octaves and fifths (e.g. C - G - C and back down, if in C major). Please can you make a video specifically on the left hand accompaniment and how to make it more varied and interesting.

Dear Tom, thanks a lot .. Again :) But also again there is something you do with your left hand. You don't simply support with the lower octaves but you start to change things from the Eb on. I try to follow from the screen but YT handling is much too slowly. It would be great if you provide sub text for the left hand too. I am still fiddling with getting my left hand playing on it's own and what you play with it makes the progression even more subtile.

So much music coming from four tweaked chords and beautifully explained, throw in a minor 6th and you are away. You spoke about Elton style could you embellish on his syncopated half-time style please. (Solos in Whitewash County,Town Called Jubilee etc)

  • @afihaileywibowo1095

No, it's not exactly the same thing. That's because you, Tom, are playing those chords😊. How do I know that? The first time I heard one of your first few beginners video, only playing C on the left, and Cmaj triad on the right - slowly, I knew just how powerful and gifted you are...(but I get your point!😊)

The problem is these techniques are rarely notated. If it's too quick for you, you can use the slow down button on UA-cam. There are a few Elton John tutorials on this channel that are slower that might move at the right tempo for you.

Dear Tom Donald, watching your Videos, I'm torn between heading over to the piano trying to do what you teach us and keep sitting in Front of the screen watching your fingers fly.
I'd really like to try out your free ressources Pack, but I wonder why you need a Phone number to send it to my E-Mail adress.
Anyhow, I love what you do.❤
