I had an Emma Peel I got from my neighbor Tim Windell in 1993. Stiff but you could carve to the dirt on that board. I was stoked to find this video! Now I want to find one of these Skate Bananas and form my own opinion.
Bought an Attack Banana in 2011 and I never even considered another board until just last month - which was a Lib Tech Cold Brew :) These are hands down the best snowboards on the market, it's great to see how far they've come and to have been there since the beginning. I remember when the Skate Banana came out, 1 out of every 4 guys in the park would be riding one.
Good beginner board. I had it for 14 years and sold it two months ago for more than I paid new. It was my only board and the condition of it was very good since they are very well made. Sold it two months ago to get a camber board to improve and progress.
Skate Banana has become my daily driver, Orca only comes out for fresh snow these days... Looking to get a LIb Rig as soon as I can to replace the La Nina which has seen better days
I sold mine two months ago. I bought it in 2009 and been using it for 14 years. Board were in excellent shape. Libtech makes good strong boards. It lasts forever.
@@JakeRawSon your old board might still be worth more than their boards. Sold mine for 385. The person that bought probably wanted to remember old times. It’s almost like a vintage board lol
I ride a never summer fun slinger, which is kind of like the skate Banana. I absolutely love it. I would be down to try a skate Banana. You guys should do a demo at Keystone so that I could check it out and become part of the skate Banana crew.
I got a Burton woody 145 in 7th grade for Christmas...(87)....no steel edge.....a metal "fin" inlay center bottom tail .... bindings were fast clips (same as any brand backpacking waist strap).... Wish I still had that ine
My Skate Banana is my first board. (Late bloomer.) Loving it! Picked it up as a leftover from 2020 late last season: a Brandon Reis pro model complete with his own extraordinary artwork.
Got me a 189 shalom in 93.. also had me one of those Emma peels.. Lib tech was revolutionary. I’m not sure about no bananas though. Guess u gotta live in the tropics to enjoy one
I bought into the hype with reverse camber boards when they came out,. The only thing these reverse camber boards were good at were butters and riding in the powder. Everywhere else I wasn't happy with it, it felt unstable at high speeds and the board had terrible pop since the boards banana shape doesn't push against the ground when you try to push off like a traditional camber board. Cool idea but sometimes you don't need to fix something that's not broke.
It either suits or doesn't suit your riding style. If you're a pow rider, hybrid and rocker make sense. If all you want to do is charge hard and carve, camber is without a doubt more beneficial. However I noticed more of a performance decrease in powder riding on a traditional long camber board. Less of a performance decrease for freestyle on a hybrid shape than what I sacrifice riding camber in pow. 🤷♂️. So there's that.
Libtech definitely opened back up back creativity in snowboard design. Whether you wanted a pure banana or not within a few years of this board there were way more choices for all kinds of riding. Mid 2000s board designs were getting super stale and boring.
@@ElevenEightNate ive had a few regular camber boards and they were great boards too. Found that my 2008 Revolver with its rocker camber was the best fit for me and my style of shredding.
I ride all terrain, ALL terrain on OG camber hand rail boards. Old school artifacts and stairmasters are my preference. Big Air Jumps to Steep and Deep.
I tried to get used to it and it was fun to mess around on but laying down hard carves would fold that soft nose up. Don’t get me started on the rail performance😳
I have a T Rice Pro and love it. Tried a Capita Super DOA and was sliding all over the place on ice. People still insist that serious riders don't ride rocker - WRONG. My board holds and edge super well on ice, floats on powder, and makes it much harder to catch an edge. Thanks Lib Tech 🤛🏂. Let me finish by saying I was at the shop in Andermatt Switzerland and like half of their boards were Lib Tech. Kills it in the East Coast US; kills it Switzerland. Enough said.
Andermatt is a mostly skiers resort, and people mostly ride pow there. Go to best snowboarding resorts like Laax in Switzerland, where lots of Pros ride and you will see very few Lib Tech Boards, but Capita DOA will be one of the most popular boards there. I have had a T Rice Pro and it is only good for powder - on anything else it sucks. Especially slush - super easy to catch an edge, since it is very unstable and spins like crazy. Selling it now...
Bataleon Wallie > Skate Banana. Give the Banana all the Serration you want, it will still be a noodle and wash out at speed. Camber is needed for carving, that's why the design didn't change. "The most fun board on earth." is pretty a egotistic comment no? But i guess it's a great marketing video to sell off the last of your ugly yellow snowboard stock, I'm sorry.... (previous Banana owner, I gave it to a friend who had their board stolen)
I always have appreciation for Mervin's innovation but did not like the banana from the time it was a demo til now. And personally i think rocker and banana tech looks cheesy on footy and film when a rider is pressing nose or tail on a feature. Opinions are like belly buttons.
Memories!
Got my Skate Banana 07/08. Easiest and most fun board I've ever ridden...
Thank you guys! 😍🥰❤❤❤
Gonna take my 17 yr old skatenana to Vail next week. She still gets it done
I scored one of these in Saratoga NY in 2007 and it was a game changer. Rode all over 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦. Best boards ever!
This Board was like - The start of a new era

My favorite Mervin deck is by far the Gremlin own a Cygnus too but the overall favorite is the Gremmy!
🙏I still ride my Skate Banana most days of the season, such an amazing board for everything.
Angrysnowboarder needs to comment on this lol
he's gonna be pissed
true! He hates this board.
Just got myself a used one and I cannot wait to get on the mountain
Just got to try my new T. Rice Pro in rainy slushy east coast snow and fucking loved it. First time riding a C2 board. The hype is real

The skate banana was fun but I love my 3 Box Scratchers!!! Mervin for LIFE!!!

I wish libtech/gnu would come to CO and do a demo day. I didn't see them at Loveland last month. 🫤
The biggest difference is flex and improved edge hold of a serrated edge. The skate bananna is gonna be more playful and has magnatraction.

The OG graphic is iconic
Bruh...!!! Proper statement...
Already have one, but would love to get my hands on 156 Anniversary version
Camber all day everyday
Got my Skate banana back in 2009 and still riding it.
Tried other boards but nothing gives grins like this does

Banked slalom this weekend 🤙🏽✌🏽
Magne traction is the best invention of the past millenium
Is this good for a beginner?
Been riding mine since 2011 and I love it! Great for a single board quiver.
10 years. Damn. Like yesterday
17 years. This video is from 2016 😉
@@NICNOT77 😳
The litigator with a little trim job was my favorite board through the 90s...
That is some real talk, I remember using an old vinyl record to trace a line on my Kemper before busting out the jigsaw. Good memories👍🏼
Let's see how small the world is...??? Do you remember winter wave in bend, OR...???
I still prefer camber. I like the C3 profile.
Oh man, first gen bananas were wild times 🤣🤙🤙

Bit confused as to why this is a 10 year anniversary video for the Skate Banana when they have been around longer? I got mine in 2009🤔.
I believe this is a repost. Originally from 2016

Ive always wanted to try the skate nana. Maybe next season i will get to try it out. Still loving my NS revolver from 2008 though.
Or, you could just get on a board with real camber and not all this lasagna camber garbage and take your riding to the next level.
@@ElevenEightNate NS makes a traditional long camber called The Hammer.

I love my GNU tiders choice.
Magne Traction changed how i can ride. I can charge as fast as i want no matter how icy it is. Thank you!!
Camber for life, owned a skate banana for a couple weeks... They were a bad couple weeks.
Camber for all mtn/hard charging riding. Hybrid and rocker for park/freestyle riding. Different strokes for different folks.
I ride all terrain, ALL terrain on OG camber hand rail boards. Old school artifacts and stairmasters are my preference. Big Air Jumps to Steep and Deep.
With enough bottom edge angle ( 2degrees at least....) i can ride everything.
Old school poppy camber is the only way for me :)
I tried to get used to it and it was fun to mess around on but laying down hard carves would fold that soft nose up. Don’t get me started on the rail performance😳
isnt that a cambered board in front of him while hes talking about a banana rockered board.
I love my gateway
How about making a snowskate video
Mervin mfg for life
bananas!!! 🙃
