I don't care what anyone says, the 90s was the highest peak of entertainment period. Kendall and Erica's period were the highest periods of drama in the whole All My Children series,...(to me.) I used to think Kendall was the epitome of evil. I think that was Sarah Michelle Gellar's highest peak.

Susan Lucci REALLY should have won for this AND the drug addiction story line! This whole thing, with Kendall and Richard Fields was INTENSE stuff! Erica having to describe how she'd been savaged by bite marks... The part where Livia leans in to point out the places where Erica said she'd been injured in the attack, and Livia uses one hand to hold her braids back... Fields, Bianca and Kendall(!) The attention to detail, in this story, made it EPIC!
I always thought how ironic it was that Tom Cudahy's present wife was in court defending his first wife. LOL!

I discovered these just a couple of weeks ago. I was a die hard fan. I forgot just how good SMG was. Actually, I think she was better then. I watched all of "Ringer." She was very good considering she played two characters. But not like this episode of Kendall. This also is one of Susan Lucci's finest. The fix was on for her with the Emmys.

Kendall's first act to appear "human". She was a very different person then, in more ways than one, but eventually, with time, Kendall changed into a fan favorite. It took over a decade for this to happen.
I remember even back then at this time she was a fan favorite. She was a psycho bitch but my sister and I rooted for her. We just said “she did what she did because of how Erica treated her.” Kendall was and still is the best!

I was never enamored with Susan Lucci as Erica Kane, to be honest, but in 1994 I started watching the show again, I have to say - she was wonderful that year in the role. It made me have a new outlook on her acting abilities and the role itself. I loved this story line in 1994. It was a shame that this was the one year she wasn't nominated for the Emmy. Strange.
I HATE that people want to bash rape victims saying that theyre stupid and that it's their fault of what happens, i can relate to erica and bianca, i was raped when i was 18 by someone that i hardly knew, he was manipulative, "acted" nice & kind, all that stuff. lord my heart goes out to anyone that got hurt like how i was. i have trust issues with men because of what happened to me, im taking it still one day at a time even though im 36 now.
I can relate I was molested and raped by a male family member and I am finally getting trauma counseling. I am 60 now. I never had any relationships with men because of this plus a stranger molested me when I was 16. NEVER TALK TO STRANGERS.
I was sexually abused when I was a child by a family friend and by a doctor I have never told my family what happened to me because I'm scared that they will blame me for what happened or not believe me at all
And now we have perverted men in DRAG accessing women and children all the TIME & an entire political party saying there's NO PROBLEM WITH THIS AT ALL.

These are some powerful scenes! No wonder Sarah Michelle Gellar won the emmy in 1995. Alicia Minshew was the Kendall I knew when I started watching AMC but seeing scenes of Sarah's version makes me like her a little more than Alicia's verssion but they both brought great things to Kendall. Soaps were great back then, because they weren't afraid to tackle true to life, gritty plots. Nowadays they are so afraid of any real social commentary and stick to outlandish baby switches and doppelganger storylines. Viewers are partially to blame, because people complain when things get too "real".
tymcbee absolutely! AMC had their crazy plots, but when they had to get real, they went all out and treated things with respect.

SMG was fantastic in this! I remember Michael Knight (Tad) saying on ET back in 2011 that he was amazed that Sarah had such balls as an actress at such a tender age! Something about that name Sarah and 90s ABC Soaps. Sarah Brown was also another new, young actress that took her show by storm in a similar role of Carly on GH. It was because of Sarah Gellar's and Sarah Brown's respective performances in originating their roles that made ABC feel these roles were vital to the canvas and needed to be recast. If lesser actresses performed these roles when they first began, once written out, the characters would've been forgotten. Bobby Martin, anyone?
Yes SMG and Sarah Brown rocked their roles and made the 90s what they were….intense, amazing and edge of your seat gripping. Damn I miss those days!!!!!!

Then starting again from 95 she received consecutive nominations until she won in 1999! She also got 2 more Emmy 'nods' in 2001-2002. Also, AMC won for Outstanding Drama Series: in 1992; 1994; and 1998 and overall, "the show and its performers have been nominated in excess of 250 times."
This is riveting soap, they don't make soaps like this anymore, story so well written. So many great actresses. I wish they had soaps like this today. I cried, I was outraged, and I am still shocked, I was so happy that freak got what he deserved.

Quite a pit of soaps were dropped by NBC, ABC, and CBS for stupid talk shows in those slots. Lot of those talk shows were canceled too. It's a shame how many soaps cast members and crews lost jobs so their could be talk shows. Ugh.
@@criticwatcher It had nothing to do with talk shows lol. They didn't have the ratings to keep certain Soaps on anymore. The storylines after 2005 were trash.

Dear God, Kendall was so hysterical and needy for her Mother's acceptance, she didn't care how she got it, never once for a long time did she think about the horror Erica went through. Some families have a member who are so wrapped up in what they think happened to them, they don't want to accept what really happened to them.

Mona supposedly murdered a sleazy modeling agent who tried to rape Erica in the 70's. I wish someone had footage of that. She alluded to that murder during this storyline in a scene with her and Richard Fields in the courthouse. Mona was NO PUNK. Don't forget...she also took Charles Tyler from Phoebe. So Mona wasn't ever THAT innocent - LOL!

I wish they would have brought back Eric after this so Erica could have called him out on what Richard Fields did to her. I enjoyed watching Mona and Demitri standing over Fields during his heart attack.
Sadly, Erica was still in denial about Eric’s part and I’m not sure even Mona knew his part in it.
The way Megan McTavish was writing the show back in these days made me hate everyone except Kendall and Janet.

She tormented Bianca long before this. She was a bitch who treated Erica like garbage because she (a fourteen year old girl) didn't keep her instead of giving her to kind parents.
My adopted brother had a hard time dealing with being adopted he wanted to find his mom and confront her about it. He had a lot of anger. He was pain in the ass throwing it in my moms face that he was her adopted son. He didn't look like us so he would say "leave your black/Hispanic adopted son alone" Not all adopted kids feel the same but it effects them.

@@LBF522Sort of. His birth mother caught the measles during her pregnancy and drank. He was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and rubella. Rubella has left him half blind and half deaf and it effects the temperament part of the brain, most die really young, he's 45 but he's not as angry but he carries anger around with him still and always will I imagine, not because he's adopted but that is just how he is, he would still be the same even with his birth mother I'd wager. He still uses adoption as a reason our mom favors the oldest, which she doesn't, but he's always clashed with the eldest. He's a stressful person.

I like this side of Mona. She was always such a goodie goodie in the eighties when I watched the show. She reminds me of Betty White when she's making her farewell speech to the creature.

The actor who played Anton was much weaker than his co-stars.
I couldn't stand Anton, the actor who played him, the character, his look, his voice. Dude really irritated me.
funny how here, erica says she told her father the next morning but after Kendall told erica she was her daughter, when erica went to her at the pine cone, erica told Kendall she never told her father what happened.
Bad writing. The later writers had little to no respect for the show's history.
Actually, I was watching an older episode the other day, and Erica told Dimitri that one of the memories that she had recovered was that she told her father, but that Eric didn’t believe her, and told her that if it had happened, then she had asked for it.
What doesn't make sense is that when Eric returned in 1988-89, Mona had no problem with him and Write having a relationship.

The attorney hands her a tissue before there is even a teardrop in her eye. I would have stopped everything and had a sidebar with the judge. But this is not only a tv show, this is a soap opera.
While Susan isn't one of my favorite daytime stars, I must admit in scenes like this, she is captivating. She really shows great restraint here which she needed more of over the years instead of her opera diva like emoting.
