      I'm not a USC fan, but you guys are getting a lot of press. I can't believe you got that spring game set for ESPN. But, if we are being honest, this is the biggest coaching hire in your history, so it makes sense. Pete Carrol was just a guy who couldn't win with guys Belicheck took to the Super Bowl, when he first got there. TBH it might be the most high profile hire ever. Even Saban wasn't really Saban yet, when he arrived at Bama.

      It’s an exciting time to be a USC fan!! Shoot if you’re a fan of college football you should be happy with this move to. USC becoming relevant again is going to make college football so much better with the entire west coast having a reason to be interested in college football again. Pac-12 needs USC. When USC is down, this is what happens to the pac 12.

      @@MOizSUAVE14 Yeah, time zones are real, whether you believe in them, or not. Also, you are a LONG way from being anything anyone would tune in to, even if it wasn't too late at night. You can enjoy your off season of circle jerking to the shameless cheating era of Pete Carrol, but you are so in for disappointment, when you aren't bowl eligible next season. You clowns think you just declare yourself Alabama, and then everything falls in to place. TBOW is not Nick Saban.

    ECU fan here, when LR was the OC at ECU he began to change his philosophy about the Air Raid. Towards the end of tenure at ECU he really began to the see the run as crucial to balance air raid principles. He did so because the Air Raid he was running was putting to much pressure on the defense because once you scored so fast, the defense had to come back on the field to soon. He also realized that secondary’s were starting to jump route trees and there were many games where the QB was shut down because of this. I remember seeing his philosophy change and with it, ECU had some of its best seasons ever under him. What he is doing at USC is a more mature continuation of the run principles he began to form at ECU.

    Lincoln Riley is a great offensive coach and I am sure USC is going to put up some big numbers while he is there especially in the PAC 12, however USC fans are about to experience the same thing Oklahoma fans have the several years. Riley will have the team prepared for a huge game and they will play lights out and win in a good hard fought matchup, but then the next week they will fall to a chump they had no business losing to. They will have Arizona down to 3rd and 14 and AZ will toss a swing pass for a gain of 16 or a simple handoff up the middle for a gain of 20. The old Texas Tech way of coaching will not win a national championship. You can get through a season in your conference outscoring teams and playing bad defense but like Oklahoma saw, as soon as you get to the playoff and face Clemson or the SEC teams you will get your ass handed to you. His play calling also is very suspect. Oklahoma would line up on 3rd and long and many times you would see a dump off for a loss or 1 or 2 yard gains. He would completely stop doing what was working for cute little plays that get you nothing. Don't even get me started on player conditioning. It was horrible at Oklahoma. I get he wants fast undersized guys but it that will only get you so far.

      I'm a Trojan alumn. Many feel Linc can do no wrong. After years of Helton, Linc is seen as a savior and could start a cult this year in the City of Angels. He has a $17million compound and space for many "followers/believers".

      So quick question for you…. Honest question:
      It feels like you don’t think he can learn from his mistakes. It feels like OU fans tell me any chance they get he will be mediocre.
      My question is Why do you feel like he can’t learn from his mistakes from OU?

    • @babybenj52
      @babybenj52 2 роки тому +3

      @@kpillmatic I've watched every play he's called and he honestly gets stubborn in his play calling. He has the confidence in that it will work, especially the passing game, but when DCs start zoning with 8 and your QBs don't have any open reads you need to adjust. He doesn't and it's puts pressure on special teams and the defense. So basically in his eyes, his play calling must work and if it doesn't then he just keeps calling it regardless. Don't let him forget about the run game USC fans, he's known for it and it's annoying as hell.

    I like the concept. However a Cincinnati type defense where they rush 3 and drop 8 will allow them to cover 3 levels. I think that's why you've seen OU get shut out by better teams in the past. I think LR needs to develop a power running game to make teams pay when they scheme like this. Georgia and Alabama have a base offense but both can power run if they had too. I do like the offense tho. 10x better than Clay Helton's Gumbo offense. Secondly in these clips you can see the timing was off on several plays. Backs or QB and blockers hit the holes too early or too late. The routes we're run crisp on some levels and late on others. If everything is crisp you should have more than 1 open WR on a play. Most of the time you see one guy open and the other WR's bunched up with DB's. You don't see curl routes and comeback routes, TE formations or too many screens. Mike Leach likes mid to deep slanting routes you don't see that here either. These are RPO, crossing and deep routes. I hope there is more to it. Not too familiar with OU. Just going off what I see here. Hopefully the skill guys at USC can correct these issues. Happy to have LR at USC.

    The counter tre is cute and worked for a while until coaches learned how to defend it. The last two years it got chased down by the backside DE nearly every single time. He never adjusted…For some reason he has a dislike for the zone running game which is dominating college FB right now. OU switched to a zone running game in the bowl game after Riley left and had more rushing yards than the rest of the season.

    • @Tijuanabill
      @Tijuanabill 2 роки тому +2

      100% Facts in this post. It's been figured out. It actually got figured out years ago, when it was the bread and butter of Tom Osborne's non-option running game. But it's not even just running it down from behind. Any quick move to crash in behind the center, blows it up. Enter the space any moving lineman just left, and you are at the QB/RB exchange. Teams were running D lines on us, with 2 linebackers as ends, and two ends as tackles, just to blow that play up in the first couple of steps. OU didn't make them pay with any dives, or zone read runs. TBH I really thought he was smarter than that. I thought he was a guru, but maybe he just had a scheme that worked. The problem with GT Counter/Counter Tre, is it works fantastic against bad teams. But everything works against bad teams. It's too cute by half, when you could have just run over the inferior defenders. Oh we were so enamored with it though. We thought it was so sophisticated...lol. Amazing how blind fans can be.

      No chance. His scheme is flawed. Too many stunts and twists; too many guys running sideways with their shoulders square to the sideline, instead of just beating their man. It's a good system for a school that can't get elite talent. Not sure what sense it made at OU or at SC.

    Someone should do a breakdown not of TBOW's bread and butter plays, but of the one off crazy shit he has come up with, like his flood right, Left Guard with no assignment, read and then run block play. Who runs a flood play right, with an unassigned guard at the ready to take off, as soon as everyone gets right? TBOW's talent is NOT play calling. It's play DESIGN.
