    I think I like your guides more than any of them I've seen. I used your word bearers guide for most of an army then I used your salamanders guide for combat and boarding patrols. Here I find myself again as I start my death guard force. They really seem to sport excellent end results whilst being achievable without having to learn new techniques and buy new stuff. They also leave a lot of room to tailor as my army develops I learn more as a painter. Thanks a bunch!

      No problem at all! Really glad they're helping. Colour Forge eventually released a Salamanders Green colour which is much better than the 'near but not quite' Army Painter version, which is annoying. Alas! I've just settled in a new country and I've just had a load of studio stuff arrive with a dedicated room so you'll see a lot more content arriving soon which I hope will be equally helpful.

    I been wanting to do pallid hand scheme for my DG, and this accomplishes it quicker and with less paint than other videos. Thanks!

    Your final image/thumbnail oddly makes the mini look worse than the last stages of the video, where it looks fantastic. This is really useful, nice work.

      I have just batch painted 28 Plague Marines for a commission in this exact scheme, it's been soul destroying. Quick, but soul destroying. It comes out really nicely once the shade is on at the end!

  • @mr.cookiecutter

    Why is Castellax bronze better than Balthazar gold? Could this color scheme still work with Balthazar? Also, how do you mix the Agrax and Nuln oil?

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  5 місяців тому

      Castellax Bronze is a couple of shades darker, and provides better contrast against the brightness of the armour. Balthazar gold is perfectly workable, but the model will look a bit more washed out and pale as the brightness will blend in more. With a shade on, it should still look perfectly acceptable though.
      I used an old paint pot that I washed out and just poured a bit of Agrax and a bit of Nuln Oil. Alternatively you can mix them together on a pallet, but it is a bit more labour intensive doing it that way as you'll constantly need to refresh the pool doing more than 1 model.

    • @mr.cookiecutter
      @mr.cookiecutter 5 місяців тому

      @@criticalhitwargaming5290 What shade would you recommend if I decided to use Balthazar? Should I just go over it with an extra shade of agrax?

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  5 місяців тому

      @@mr.cookiecutter Nah, just the same scheme. If you want to darken Balthazar, add in a little bit of Abaddon Black to take it down a tone.

    • @mr.cookiecutter
      @mr.cookiecutter 5 місяців тому

      @@criticalhitwargaming5290 If I choose to go with Castellax, due to it being a layer, do you have to use multiple coats? Also, should you thin it at all with water?

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  5 місяців тому

      @mr.cookiecutter Castellax has pretty good coverage, you'll just need to give a few areas a second coat. You won't need to thin contrasts or washes, only regular acrylics ever so slightly.

    • @criticalhitwargaming5290
      @criticalhitwargaming5290  Місяць тому

      @BrandonKShow This guide for painting takes about the same amount of time, so it's really your call. Obviously changing it up will change the overall effect, so you can try it with contrasts, but no guarantees!

      - genestealer purple
      Technical
      - typhus corrosion

      - nuln oil
