I live along the Bronx River. It’s beautiful. I wish they would remove the dams. I always see fish at the front of the dam and they can’t swim upstream. I also wish people would stop littering.
I am glad to see this work done. Awesome job. I have one question/concern. Why did you wrap the shells in a plastic mesh container? Why wouldn't you use a small rope made from a biodegradable material?
I CANNOT SAY MUCH FOR THE OTHER IGNOPRANT COMMENTS, SOME WERE QUITE AMAZING. HOWEVER, I AM QUITE THANKFUL TO YOUR RESTORATION PROJECT. THANK YOU FOR CLEANING OUR RIVERS. WE HAVE TO KEEP MOTHER EARTH HEALTHY, FOR ALL OF OUR SAKES. EARTH IS DEMENISHING AS TIME GOES FORWARD.
I've seen the Bronx River. It's more like a creek than a river. In no place I've seen could you not wade across it. It's going to be tough to clean up that river because of the urban runoff. Yes you could remove every tire and every piece of trash (assuming you could stop the people in the Bronx from dumping stuff into the "creek") but I just don't think they can restore things like oysters, beavers, fish and the like in such an urban environment. Good luck anyway. Hope I'm wrong.
Alot of it is like that..esp in the northern part of the borough, however it does get much wider/deeper further south and closer to the east river. It certainly loses it "creek" characteristics toward Soundview. I see lots of large fish and turtles in certain spots now.
No offense, but you're mistaken. There are several places along the river that it is very difficult to cross, especially in the Bronx. Keep in mind that the river spans a whole 33 kilometers, so perhaps you've only been to the parts that are shallow! :)
I grew up very close to this river. It's a good thing what these people are doing. But they will never see the Bronx River unpolluted. Even after they pull out all the human refuse, they would still have to dredge the toxic soil that is probably three feet thick after two centuries of using it for a sewage system and dumping place for industrial waste. That river used to glow green at night. We still swam in it...
seeing the Tiers stuck in the mud 20 feet from where they are laying shells .. the work is good but c-mon some one pick up the Trash .. .. and why are you putting more plastic in teh water ?? id rather see you Glue the Shells to some Rock and drop it In
Its such a blessing to have a river run through your community. I walk there everyday.
Great to see this level of natural restoration in the most urban city in the country.
If it is successful there, think of the possibilities! Beautiful! Look at the birds, ducks and other animals.
These people are doing a great job, God bless you all.
would love to see a follow up in 2020.
Lol, same!
healthy shores=healthy water, healthy air, healthy people.

I love it
God bless everyone for thinking forward about river restoration.
great project, great story!

Actually the oysters are very very helpful in that, they are the best water filter you could even have^^
I live by the river and trust me there are already those animals. There is a trash problem though.

Great video. UK chalk rivers. You'll get some inspiration there
Great job guys! Stay the course. Impressive.
Didja know, that's a reaganism- "stay the course"? Seems he totally fabricated it. He never heard "steady on course". FWIW.
Jacques, "Stay the Course" is a very old phrase.
so its been a bunch of years. What is the outcome compared to the plan?
Doing great job, but the plastic bags around the shells will probably kill them
Is there a plan to remove the several smaller dams that are in the river? Like the ones in the zoo, garden and several in lower Westchester.

Great job.... too bad big business will never admit that they are a HUGE part of the problem.
God Bless You
Awesome
So you mean to tell me they had over had aerial maps back in colonial times? I guess they had planes back then as well.
why ant you talk without drums
English please
Fill the river with zebra mussels and they will filter the water.
Andrew M wasamatter don't you understand pig latin?
put some carp there and , it will take off
They are not native. You want to restore the natives.
