I still remember the "customized" world type. I used to crank up spawner dungeons and ore generation rates to the max. Good times. I'm still salty towards Mojang for completely removing it and not offering anything as good as a replacement.
The customized option removal is very new, I am no OG (unless you count having pocket edition right when it launched), but I remember playing with customization option back in the day. Nowadays I use World edit though
I remember the first time I played minecraft it was on a browser. The original free Beta was so good. It was back when there was a lava layer on top of the entire bedrock layer of a world. Back when there was only 2 flowers, the Dandelion and the Rose. Back when the Nether Portal couldn't even ignite. Feel old yet?
unfortunately i didnt know bout the beta stuff, i only knew bout minecraft when it first started getting popular, which was when they only had to the two flowers
also, the april fools update was majorly inspired by many OG members of hermitcraft, who worked with mojang to come up with ideas, and thats where stained glass first originated! an example of this was that xisuma made it so that if you fed sheep a certain item (cant remember what it was) they would levitate lol
Here is some more info: Chunk bugs in Alpha/Beta were multiplayer only and you couldn't fall through them, were fixed by relogging "Coco Beans" were unobtainable until Beta 1.4 when they were added into dungeons, also when cookies were added. The sky biome was not inspired by the aether mod, it's the other way around. It was going to be a dimension you could randomly enter the first time by sleeping and it would be some kind of "dream" world (?). Idea was scrapped, replaced by the end Mobs running away from exploding creepers was (as far as I know) removed because of performance issues for every mob checking for creepers around it (?) Glacier seed was exactly "Glacier" (case sensitive) The inventory was added way after changeable keybinds. Enchanting was added after sprinting. And it was more expensive and the max level was 50 instead of 30. You could only get XP from killing mobs. Here's some more facts: Did you know the original minecarts which were added in Infdev 20100618 were for storage only (like a minecart with chest) and the item texture looked like a brush stroke in MS paint? Did you know there was no stars at night when the day/night cycle was added in Indev? Did you know that creepers originally used Melee attack and only exploded when they died, in Classic Survival Test versions? Did you know that you could milk squids in Beta 1.2 because when the squids were being made they copied the Cow's code to base it off of and forgot to remove the section of code that runs when you right click it? Did you know from Indev-Infdev there were (unobtainable) solid Water/lava blocks that generated water/lava next to it? Did you know that originally instead of redstone there were gears/cogs, they weren't functional but they could be placed. Did you know that Minecraft was originally just an "Infiniminer clone" that might not have even been finished?
I've been playing since alpha, and it has been so fun watching how Minecraft has changed over time. I also love that they still haven't decided the game is done. They'll always be changing and adding things, and Minecraft is the only game to my knowledge that builds on itself in that way. Constantly evolving
First time I played Minecraft was on my neighbours Xbox back in like 2014, we just kept on playing creative and building houses it was so fun :) then a few years later my mother surprised me with my own Xbox after we moved and then I kept playing all the free maps I could find. Nice to see how the game evolved!
Also the way I found out of updates wasn't from UA-cam it was from realising differences like when the aquatic update came out I knew about it by diving in the ocean and finding fish??? XD
there's a good reason for removing the mobs being scared of creepers feature. Every mob would check for if a creeper was near them. this caused major lag.
All this stuff I didn't even remember was old, in my mind it was all a few updates ago, but I don't play much anymore, probably be going back into my hardcore world for first time in a year over Christmas, I stopped after building a large nether tunnel to my quary zone where I can dig up the desert and other terrain or just dig big holes for stone (started a new one after deepslate update), I use glass a lot and I couldn't find a decent sized dessert within 40k blocks, I don't want my mushroom converted safe island and my nearby secure 'landing zones' to have the natural terrain damaged. Plus I used my time in nether to collect netherite. So little achieved but it's all I have time for but I like the progression feeling even if slow.
Damn i knew all this ive been playing minecraft since 2011 or 2012 basically over a decade Also for the customize world one you can actually still customize worlds on cosole editions like xbox 360 edition and ps3 edition its super cool!
0:17 This happens in Modern Minecraft too “Bedrock Edition mostly” I had this happen to me in a World before, I messed up by continuing to play on the World. For some reason my backup saves never got saved and i happen to lose the world over Corruption within 4-5 Months later playing on it with 5-7 other Friends.
I subscribed on this video! I didnt know some of these facts, the fact that mobs can attack EVEN IN Creative is scary, not to mention how idiotic Creepers were when you place a block on front of em, these are insane, Now I Know More!!
Ngl, having to memorize crafting recipes was a super cool mechanic that should've remained in the game. Imagine if there were Easter egg crafts that no one knew about yet!
"When you are tired of destruction, try a game of construction" It was someone's signature, it got me into Minecraft. But then came griefers, then popularity, then Microsoft. Thank you anonymous internet person, for letting me experience this game from its barebones infancy to its corporate death.
I missed the customized worlds I would play on old versions just for them because I would crank up or generation to make crazy worlds where there would be like no stones and stones would be like basically cause you could have diamonds In a few seconds
I still remember when minecraft felt like a horrorgame to me. I used to play on my cousins tablet because i didnt have an ipad or computer at home. So i could only play with my cousin. I remember that my biggest fear of all time were ghasts. I had nightmares of the moment when i first encountered one lol. I remember the exact moment. Me and my cousin were visiting the nether (i was on the tablet she was on her phone) and we were just walking around and stuff yk. Then she said ,,Oh. Look out.'' And i was very scared and started getting worried. So i looked above me and there was a floating white cube above me. I freaked out until i turned around and (i kid you not) there were like 6 or 7 behind me. It was like the whole sky was full of them. I got so scared and jumped into the lava ;-; (i was about 6 or 7 back then)
Oh btw I know a pretty cool Easter egg and I don't know which theme song but in one of the songs megalovania could be heard in some parts of the song it was cool Great video
my favirot glitch when minecraft was still newish was when you could duplacate blocks in a chest by haveing 2 people in the same chest at once and one take a item out and the item is still their for the other player
as a minecraft veteran (atleast I'd say) who played when they were very young i dont remember crap- then again I did stop playing for a few years but I watched alot of videos too. (Edit: Then again when I played I would be on the xbox 360 and usually played the tutorial worlds)

I used to have a Samsung Galaxy phone in 2012 and I played Minecraft on it in 2016 And the first thing I built was cars and I don’t have it anymore but I sill remember the old glass texture. Good times.

I made a world of islands, so you could travel just by boat and feel like a pirate. I'm still salty for removing that feature 😠
The customized option removal is very new, I am no OG (unless you count having pocket edition right when it launched), but I remember playing with customization option back in the day. Nowadays I use World edit though
Oh yeah, i remember testing it out when i was younger by making a world made out of gold blocks. It was a pretty cool feature, shame it got removed.
Fun fact on cosole editions like ps3 edition and xbox 360 edition they still have the customize feature

The old inventory button makes some sense. Great editing on the "glacier" seed though. :)
The memories of the old Minecraft.

Makes me feel weird that people might not know about Glacier now.
there's a good reason for removing the mobs being scared of creepers feature.
Every mob would check for if a creeper was near them. this caused major lag.
Don't forget that creepers used to explode into leaves. Mojang started off making the creeper a plant bomb thingy, but then changed it.
true, surviving the first night is hard without enchanting
I’m actually amazed that I didn’t know some of these features changed

The mobs are still smart, they just can't find a reason to live anymore and commit die.
