Here's a lovely video of snorkelling on the Milaidhoo Maldives house reef made by guests who stayed with us recently and kindly let us share it.
Milaidhoo Island Maldives is a boutique luxury resort in the heart of a UNESCO biosphere reserve in Baa Atoll close to Hanifaru Bay.
This August, we took our video camera out to take a look at the house reef which circles our island. As you can see, there's a wealth of fish and turtles and even - although we didn't catch them on camera this time - sharks.
The pleasure of snorkelling in a marine protected area is that the reefs are unspoilt and there are many, many fish.
Milaidhoo Maldives is perfect for nature lovers as its coral reef is a protected area and noted as an outstanding snorkelling and diving site in its own right. The tiny beautiful island measures just 300 mby 180m and is fringed by white soft deep sand beaches.
Reached by seaplane, Milaidhoo welcomes guests aged 9 and over.
Three restaurants and two bars offer outstanding dining in informal settings. No shoes are required. Ever.
The over-water spa has four treatment suites with complimentary yoga and meditation classes. Leisure activities include sailing, catamarans, kayaks, a 24-hour gym, snorkelling, library/games room and excursions such as visits to Hanifaru Bay, manta ray snorkelling, dolphin spotting, swimming with turtles, coral reef planting and trips to nearby islands.
