I was diagnosed, age 66, with lymphoma in 2011, went through 64 infusions by 2017, in remission in 2018, diagnosed that same year with MDS [chronic anemia], low-moderate risk but facing AML. I declined the Bone Marrow Transplant for many reasons, relying at this point on my 50-year vegetarian diet, a positive attitude, and great medical care from nurses and doctors at V.A. clinic: they are my angels. Thank You for being strong and sharing your story.
You are awesome. I was diagnosed at 38 and am now 42! Like you said, we are proud to be alive but am not the same person. I am now in the discussion of my ovaries 😭😭😭! Keep speaking sister! You are changing the world!
Sarah Orogun I had breast cancer. I underwent radical mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction. Thankfully, I have not developed the bone marrow issues that Robin did. My ovaries now have cystic masses so I'm now on Lupron injections to shut them down for removal. It's a transition that is overwhelming but feels selfish sometimes. I’m praying for you sister!!! Keep your fight. God is still at work.
Sarah Orogun Girl! I'm a nurse of 20 years and can tell you that while the struggle is real, you WILL beat this. My biggest piece of advice is make sure you are comfortable with your team and make sure you are the captain of the team. I am here for you.
