The body control it takes to maintain such a beautiful voice and guitar, but the absolute control of the kick-drum suitcase and tambourine… incredible. He’s a legend.
My wife had heard a Shakey Graves song from time to time, and then we went to see him at The Van Buren in Phoenix. It was a smaller, intimate venue and Shakey rocked that place to the core. One of her favorite songs, ever, is The Perfect Parts. I watched her become a fan in real time. I thinks she is almost as big a fan as I am! We cant wait for him to come back. We have to take our friends and make more Shakey Graves fans!
This whole concert is my favorite performance I have found. I dig hin with an acoustic and kick drum more than I like his electric guitar stuff. This is his most impressive heart felt performance I have found since I discovered his music
Am I the only one who has been completely heart broken about everything he releases after & The War Came album? Honestly I feel like even half the songs on that album weren’t in the vein of the funky unique sound I’ve grown to love from him. It was all those feature songs on that album that I don’t love. I have it on vinyl so I have to listen to all of them regardless. Literally can’t get into anything he released after that album though. Dual-Tone ruined our boy, and I hope it was atleast worth it financially. Probably not though, I’ve worked in the music industry on the marketing side for years and I’ve never seen a situation where a label doesn’t extract atleast 10 times the amount from you that they pay you for the contract. He is supposed to be having a 10 year anniversary album being worked on now and released. I hope it’s more inline what we’ve grown to expect from him, even if it sounds different than before I don’t even care about that. They just turned his productions into the same or lesser of the stuff I can hear around Nashville every weekday night. I don’t mean any negative energy toward the dude, I honestly hope he makes a comeback one day; because his music before that previously mentioned album will forever live in my heart alongside very few legends.
I traveled from Florida to Alaska with the women I loved and my son all the way to Alaska and jammed out to Shake Graves the whole way. Unfortunately the highest I ever was. Now look at me..
Well this city's put me through the wash Mhmmm, I've been living here for you Well I used to take my women on the rocks Yeah, they used to wear out my ballroom shoes Well you know that I had one too many drinks Oh I found hope on your machine Well you didn't answer my request You left my whole world on your string We'll, I guess that's your thing So you know that I see the words left on the screen Yeah, well they're bursting just for me Well you know that I've known you since we were 3 Oh, we fell in love at 17 Well so I say, what have I learned, what have I learned? Except to love needs a heart Well your lies will burn in alcohol To sterilize the perfect parts We'll I guess that's a start
This is my favorite version of this song, i listen to it all the time instead of the officially recorded rock version.and i wish there was an audiotree sessions for it or some other solo recording version soooo badllyyyy
I’m wondering if anyone passing by knows what guitar he’s playing ? It seems to be a Gibson J-45, but it has those inlays. And I’ve checked a bunch of SG guitar lists and it doesn’t pop up, just others thinking a J-45
Not a problem it was a great excuse for me to look at Gibsons for most the morning (even tho I was mostly sure it was An adv. jumbo I had to be sure) man I wish I could afford even the cheapest one right now!

Alejandro if you ever see this by some miraculous chance, bet on yourself when this contract is over. I have 10 years experience helping businesses succeed in the digital world, and I’ve worked with many entertainers to do the exact same thing without having to sign themselves away to a label. Just reach out somehow dude, I’d give you so much of my time to see your self produce. You’d make a hell of a lot more money this way, but more important your music would touch the hearts and minds of more people all over the world. I believe in you. You don’t have to produce what you did in the past, but you should never be bound by what a label says is marketable. They don’t know shit, that’s why so many labels have paid me great money to handle marketing, brand development, and profit increases for them. All they are is a group of guys and gals where one or two people have a good ear for talent, but a bigger drive for personal greed that stunts artists. I’ve ran the books for big labels, and on average for every $20k and artist makes, label executives eat $100k and shit out nothing but ignorance and spare change. I love you bro, your music saved my life at one time. My name is Nicholas Matthew on Facebook. Let me repay the favor one day.
i've probably watched this a good 1000x
SAME! This is my favorite version of “Perfect Parts” 🤩

Hey man. I don’t think you understand how much I loved your music. Thank you. Over 12000 miles of road trips to your KEXP version.
7 years later....still insane
I feel like I'm a different person every time I listen to this, and it still slapps
I don't usually like countryish stuff these days, but I really love Shakey Graves.
folk rock
This is ONE person making this sound, along with the lyrics and what not. Perfection.
Girl Name you are absolutely right. I still after years cannot figure out how a subdued delivery can be so explosive! Proud of him.

Seven people. No one human being can do this and I’m not even religious. There’s something going on here that can’t be explained.

I’m pretty sure the guitar he’s playing is a Gibson AJ Advanced Jumbo
Beandip 1 Wow, thanks man, that’s been bugging me for a while now, appreciate the help.
