Looks like a nicely thought out mod . Haven't purchased my Talon yet, will visit the dealer in the next couple of days with a build sheet to total up the cost with the options I want. Ive' looked at all of the videos I can find that might show where the 3 inch duct would go through the body if extended straight up. after the "hat " is removed I would like to try to preserve the flange and resonators by fabricating a new flange with a three inch stub to mate with the original flange so I could extend the stack straight up through the body work. I figure I could make a flange with a three inch diameter stub out of fiberglass and epoxy or make a steel flange with a welded three inch stub. Either way the plan would be to attach a three inch snorkel to the new flange and extend it straight through the body work with a pre filter on the end. I guess I will learn the feasibility after taking delivery of my own 1000x Thanks for the video it helped me try to noodle a way to save the original flange and resonators. I' m pretty stoked at the prospect of getting the Talon. At 78 my wife thinks I am too old. That is just what she thinks. I would rather wear out than rust out!

Yea I decided to punch through the back bed black plastic as opposed to the shiny red plastics😂
Plus the black part was flat and the red had an angle so it was an easy choice. Good luck on your mods, it’s a blast working on the Talon, it keeps you young!

Never understood why people were installing them in the air box, way more advantages to external location. If it is inside the airbox then you still have to pull the rear cover, then pull the airbox cover, then remove all the screws that hold the filter, then remove the filter, then remove the prefilter clean it and reverse the process and because the intake location did not get relocated the system is still being fed a constant diet of filthy air kicked up by the right reat tire. I installed mine externally so that it is in clean air and it litterally takes me 5 minutes to remove and clean. My plan was to just throw in a new OEM filter once a year, but after inspecting my OEM a year later I have decided to wait another year....thats how good it looks. I have helped 2 other Talon owners that I know do the same.

Yea it was originally just a quick fix and I never got around to putting it external and also I was kinda waiting to see what happened with turbos, but have finally decided to for the time not add a turbo , but yes it was a pain but it kept my OEM filter clean so I’m glad I had it. In my opinion the Uni pre-filter is the way to go!

The foam under the box was from Harbor Freight, I just cut it to fit to provide cushion for the box.

Good morning, It's been a year since you relocated your prefilter to the outside of the box. How's it working for you. Seems like cleaning it would be a breeze.

Yes it works just like it did before when it was inside, but now I can change it out with a second one in about a minute and then clean the dirty one and oil it for the next time.
