The spatula looking thing is for the kitchen, I made them specifically for chopping ground beef😁, the oil in the bottle is for that and also the same with the outside of the pipe bowls, it is food safe, and yes you can easily sand whatever Contour you need on the hand pads especially with your belt sander if you have that with you, I used a 12-inch Disc Sander to shape the wood and also neoprene rubber, you are correct about the quartersawn White Oak, and also black walnut, I think the square blanks are maple, the lighter goes in the pouch, the other survival items you got them figured out, the fishing kit in the small bottle is just for a survival kit, the lights I use for my kayak at night, I just like having a red light if I need to read something in the dark, the Ridgeline is for a shelter tarp setup, the keychain light I made with epoxy resin and a balloon light the extra light is just for the battery in case the other one goes out, I can't see good at night with my keys in locks😁, I guess Mike is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get😂
Well I do have 3 oval pads and 3 half moon pads finished, after the epoxy sets it only takes about 30 minutes to make one, these are kind of a prototype untested only me and Sal have used them, so I would sell them for just the cost of the material and shipping but they have to give me feedback, what they don't like about it and what they do like about it, I'll look for the comments here but if they send you an email just give them my email and have them contact me
What an excellent gift! I would nerd out over such a box of goods. And its true. I personally never found a knapped arrowhead down in the wash that was well done, and clean. Always covered in step fractures and usually much thicker than I would think to be very effective.
The quarter sawn oak pieces are awsome. I use alot of quarter sawn sycamore for making my scratch box turkey calls. That wood has a wavy tiger strip pattern thats beautiful and sycamore wood gives the call a nice loud tone that travels well. I've called in toms from over 100 yards with these calls. Sycamore also has smooth grain that burns well for my artwork. You got some great gifts, thanks for the unboxing...enjoyed.
Quarter sawed white oak. Made popular by the Stickley brothers in the late 1800's to mid 1900's with their craftsman style furniture. I made reproductions of the furniture in the 90's when the craftsman style furniture was the big fad. The coolest thing about the style of furniture is how the rich color is achieved without stain. They used a process called fuming that uses high strength ammonia fumes that react with the tannin in the white oak to create a deep penetrating rich brown color.
tthose ucco storm matches are cool light em and you can dip em in water or bury them in the dirt for a short time and pull them out and they will relight themselves like a trick birthday candle
