Same for almost all market towns, its not just the loss of the businesses, communities have been carved up and we will never get them back. Everything is set up for people to live in isolation and order everything online. You can't mourn for days gone by, just be happy you experienced them.
Ace centre is there now isn’t it ? I spent 5 years delivering 📦 📦 around Nelson. I’m glad I changed my job, it’s a shit hole. Unbelievable really that Barley and fence etc are 5 mins away but a total different world.
Sad to see this being demolished,it's hard to imagine how busy this market was in the 50/60s, queues at every stall, open till 7pm , spent a lot of time there.
It's like going under for the third time and my past life flashing before my eyes........ Many, many very happy memories of the Cross Street Market and the surrounding areas. Thank you for a wonderfully provocative video.
I remember that old market, I once lived in nelson 50 years ago in 1971, but only for about three months. But I still go there occasionally, and the old house is still there on hartley street. And the old market was still there a few years ago, so when was it actually torn down?
Brings back happy memories my Grandma use to treat me to a ride on the roundabout at the back of the Chippy ever Saturday it was sixpence a ride x Nelson’s now a total shithole x
