6:58 you can see the crack in the structure, near the gated flooring. when you think about the amount of planning & innovation that went into making this animatronic, the weight and positioning of him inside the ride was such a sad oversight. they essentially built him with the assumption that he would only need minor fixes with his range of motion, it’s clear just by the platform around him & all the tools. it’s a shame they didn’t factor in a way to separate the yeti from the entire mountain, or, at the very least, a way to more easily access him. all that work to just put him at the very end for a few split seconds, and to only have it operating for a few years maximum, is just disappointing:( I’m lucky to have seen him in motion, tho I was literally 7 years old at the time & barely remember it also editing to add thanks for the awesome footage. this is something you always think of doing like “oh what if” but 99.9% of people never do & just laugh it off. It’s sick you did, you captured some incredible shit. it takes guts!
If you look a a bit close when he turns the light on the first time to see the yeti and then he starts to go up on the right you can see a little crack from the yetis weight
While he was walking along the tracks towards the cave where the Yeti sits, he passed a utility door that had a white light near it. That’s the door that cast members used to get to the Yeti’s mechanical console which. The console is next to the long metal thing connected to the Yeti’s back. What I’m saying is if this guy went through that door, he could’ve turned the Yeti back on while he was there.

Damn he’s scary!!! You never really get a good look at them on the ride it was great to see him up close! I can’t believe how big the yeti is. I’d love to see him back in action!! Tune in next week to see how Matt escapes this time 😂
I was lucky enough to get to ride this coaster a few times when the yeti was fully functional and he swung that giant arm out at you! I always ducked down because it looked like he could actually grab you. Too bad after all these years he's still just the "disco yeti". Now when I ride it, must people don't even notice he's there because the train flies by so fast, even with the flashing lights, he's just a blur. With all the billions this company makes, you'd think that they'd have fixed it by now. Sad.
It would take an extremely long time to do that. The ride would be closed for at least months, possibly even a year. They would have to disassemble at least half of the mountain, remove and replace the entire foundation that the Yeti is built on while also ensuring that the stronger foundation does not touch any part of the ride or mountain and that the Yeti will not damage the new foundation, rebuild the mountain again, etc. Fixing the Yeti issue is so expensive and time consuming that it's just not worth it to get animatronic moving again. This isn't an issue with a broken animatronic. This is an issue with the structural integrity of the entire ride.
Would have been hilarious but terrifying if a cast member knew you were there and turned the Yeti on for a moment . (I know the Yeti doesn’t work but just imagine that) I would die
The yeti isn’t actually broken basically because of the jerking movements the concrete keeping him up there started to crack so it was turned off to keep the entire structure collapsing
Honestly these closeups of animatronics (the Yeti as well as Ursula in the preview stuff) has me just recoiling and legitimately shouting NO at my computer screen. I don't find animatronics creepy usually, even when I've had to do an in-show exit past them at Disney, but there's something about someone being there when they shouldn't, getting SO CLOSE that just makes me NO NO NO NONONONONO. Also I think that since it's not me, and I can't control it, I hate it more. Like I can't stop the camera from getting so up close.
I never understood why they made the yeti brown. Wouldn't a creature that lives in the snowy Himalayas be white like a polar bear or at least grey-ish white? Plus it would make the figure stand out more against his brown mountain backdrop considering you only see the figure for a split second and can't even tell what the figure really even looks like in that time. Just a big brown blob with strobe lights ruining any other possibility of being able to get a good look at the yeti. I don't even care if the figure wasn't moving, at least kill the strobe lights and let us actually see the 20ft tall beast if you aren't going to ever fix the thing.
The actual yeti (er, pictures of the cryptid, which are probably fake but whatever) was brown. People just imagine it to be white because that's usually what things that live in high mountains look like. But most early explorers were looking for a brown animal.
I was lucky to see the Yeti in full working motion before they made him stationary. Honestly you go by him so fast it doesn't reallly matter if he's working or not! His placement in the mountain was a bad choice! Wasted money on that animatronic! The cars should of stopped before leaving the mountain. He should of been there swiping at you!
I don’t know whether i would pass out or scream my lungs away if that yeti just turned on out of nowhere because they were testing the ride. can you IMAGINE the heart attack this man would’ve had, complete silence.. then that DEMON just starts swinging and roaring at you
Really worried for you bro. Because of disney lawyers and their endless cash supply they could really come down on you hard. I don’t want you to mess up your whole life just for some backstage videos man. Am worried. You are so young.
They won't go after a dude who's just making videos. They're strict, but they don't have any evidence of him doing much worse than trespassing, and that itself isn't a huge crime to courts and shit if you're pretty much just doing it peacefully. I dunno though, that's just what I know. You're totally still right, though, I hope that worst case scenario doesnt happen
71 71 Wrong. They could claim he is releasing proprietary information by filming areas off limits to none employees. That could result in a huge lawsuit that results in this kid spending his life working to pay Disney. Would serve him right.
@@amielawson8344 You might be right. In any case I hope he stops while he's ahead, you can't be this lucky forever. I dont think it would be worth it for him

Hey I think defunctland May have deleted the interview you did with them. I can’t find it anywhere and the interview playlist has one private video that I think is the interview. Would love to listen to the crazy stories in it.
Man, this is like gold for anyone who is a fan of animatronics or the the history of the parks. For anyone who might be unaware when the ride first opened the yeti which was the largest and most complex Disney animatronic at the time operated in "A-mode" where it would swing and lunge at the riders. After a few months the framing split and would only worsen with continued use of "A-mode" so they now use "B-mode" in which a strobe light is used to suggest movement (and earning it the name "Disco Yeti" by fans) There has been no public disclosure of what caused the splitting but its been theorized (and partially confirmed by Joe Rohde, the Imagineer responsible for the ride) that a more permanent solution would require the 40+ foot structure the yeti rests on be removed which would require at least a portion of mountain be opened up as the mountain was built around it

The whole ride will collapse due to how much stress the yeti puts on the structure! Also his foundation is cracked too!
6:58 you can see the crack in the structure, near the gated flooring. when you think about the amount of planning & innovation that went into making this animatronic, the weight and positioning of him inside the ride was such a sad oversight. they essentially built him with the assumption that he would only need minor fixes with his range of motion, it’s clear just by the platform around him & all the tools. it’s a shame they didn’t factor in a way to separate the yeti from the entire mountain, or, at the very least, a way to more easily access him. all that work to just put him at the very end for a few split seconds, and to only have it operating for a few years maximum, is just disappointing:(
I’m lucky to have seen him in motion, tho I was literally 7 years old at the time & barely remember it
also editing to add thanks for the awesome footage. this is something you always think of doing like “oh what if” but 99.9% of people never do & just laugh it off. It’s sick you did, you captured some incredible shit. it takes guts!
you see nothing because three engineers who worked on this have come out and said that it is not true
you see nothing because three engineers who worked on this have come out and said that it is not true
Is that not one of the scariest Disney props ever I don’t know what is!
Holy shit I was completely on the edge of my seat!!
Who else is here because of the news6 story
Erick Gomez what news6 story
Erick Gomez what story?
If you look a a bit close when he turns the light on the first time to see the yeti and then he starts to go up on the right you can see a little crack from the yetis weight
DISCO YETI! Or as hulk Hogan would call him .. yettayyyy! (Obscure mid 90s hulk Hogan promo in WCW about dungeon of doom)
I live for how specific this is
Yes! Brother
The YEATIIIIIIIIII best ending to nitro ever
😐
LMAOO I SAY Diso yety to
Imagine being able to say that you’ve touched the expedition Everest yeti. Coolest flex ever
DangDaniel Playz he could have but there’s a reason that it’s off it would have been unsafe
He would be arrested. The yeti mechanics were causing damage to the ride and had to be taken down
Nah it was locked out I’m sure. If you can pick that lock then maybe
Can’t believe you touched the yeti 😮
WOW. How in the Holy Hell did you pull this off?! Amazing. This took serious balls man! You got a look at the Yeti that most of us could only dream of! I guessing this was taken between 2-4 am. For your bravery you are rewarded by a new subscriber and a video immediately marked as a favorite.
@@rp8033 what
@@rp8033 But in fact, Matt actually did film this gem himself. You are incorrect, Sir.
Yes, encourage him to trespass by subscribing, that'll surely be nice. Not to mention he could possibly die if he got hit by a cart during testing. Or let alone slip.
@@mysterygamer-xx9hj cry about it
@@mysterygamer-xx9hj what kind of "cart"? A shopping cart???
I can't believe someone touched the yeti. Maybe they'll finally fix it now. 😂
This is one of my favorite rides ever, so to have them finally explore that broken down yeti really makes me happy. Thank you very much!
Legit yelped out loud in fear when you turned the light on the yeti lmao I was so tense while you were getting to it I didn't know you'd made it. Idk how you pet it that thing terrifies me and I've never even seen it irl. thanks for sating my morbid curiosity over this robo yeti that genuinely terrifies me
That light damage on the fur...damn
You're national news now, dude! They covered some of your content on Inside Edition. Be safe and God bless.
Jesus man, this is god damn insane. Great stuff.
Damn he’s scary!!! You never really get a good look at them on the ride it was great to see him up close! I can’t believe how big the yeti is. I’d love to see him back in action!! Tune in next week to see how Matt escapes this time 😂
Random Human did you just assume the yeti’s gender?
I was lucky enough to get to ride this coaster a few times when the yeti was fully functional and he swung that giant arm out at you! I always ducked down because it looked like he could actually grab you. Too bad after all these years he's still just the "disco yeti". Now when I ride it, must people don't even notice he's there because the train flies by so fast, even with the flashing lights, he's just a blur. With all the billions this company makes, you'd think that they'd have fixed it by now. Sad.
They can probably fix the yeti now that everyone is being quartaine in the US
It would take an extremely long time to do that.
@@iamobeliskquake well good news: is SHOULD be closed for months
Would have been hilarious but terrifying if a cast member knew you were there and turned the Yeti on for a moment . (I know the Yeti doesn’t work but just imagine that) I would die
The yeti isn’t actually broken basically because of the jerking movements the concrete keeping him up there started to crack so it was turned off to keep the entire structure collapsing
Is anybody gonna talk about how he f*ing just went up on the ride tracks like nothing 💀
Imagine 2 people doing this at the same time, that would be an awkward meeting up
I still wanna see the lounge area that’s up above the mission space que line
How you do all this by yourself is beyond me lol
This is giving me creepypasta vibes
Sammeee
"Don't sneak in to Disney's Mt Everest at 3am" lol
I was lucky to see the Yeti in full working motion before they made him stationary.
Honestly you go by him so fast it doesn't reallly matter if he's working or not! His placement in the mountain was a bad choice! Wasted money on that animatronic! The cars should of stopped before leaving the mountain. He should of been there swiping at you!
I don’t know whether i would pass out or scream my lungs away if that yeti just turned on out of nowhere because they were testing the ride. can you IMAGINE the heart attack this man would’ve had, complete silence.. then that DEMON just starts swinging and roaring at you
Security guards need to learn to stop shouting out who's there. just sneak up.
I would absolutely shit my pants if the yeti started moving again while I was that close to it.
Really worried for you bro. Because of disney lawyers and their endless cash supply they could really come down on you hard. I don’t want you to mess up your whole life just for some backstage videos man. Am worried. You are so young.
Nah fuck that keep posting lol
I dont think it would be worth it for him
LOL!!! Why did I jump/get startled when I heard the security guard barely yell, “Excuse Me!” Lol as if I was there with you 🤣👏🏽
I was a cast member at disney world for the spring 2020 college program. O had a lot of shifts that were either really late at night or really early in the morning. I wonder how many times myself and the person filming these videos may have been near each other without realizing it 😂😂😂😂😂
I can only imagine how many warrants you have in Orange County. Disney and Universal have to be upping security now I'd think. Be careful out there.
I was legitimately terrified that thing was going to come to life.
I love how even though it’s an animatronic, everyone seems to be referring to the yeti as “him” as if he’s actually alive. It’s REALLY cool and I feel like it shows just how amazing Disney animatronics are:)
Hey I think defunctland May have deleted the interview you did with them. I can’t find it anywhere and the interview playlist has one private video that I think is the interview. Would love to listen to the crazy stories in it.
You can hear the person at 7:52 & 7:55 saying “excuse me” and that’s when Matt bails. Scary to know you’re not alone even after hours
i’m scared
Is that you? Yes, my precious Animatronic. If I had the power, I would bring you to LIFE!!!
Imagine he was touching it and then it suddenly switches to A-Mode
Did someone catch him at the end? was that someone saying/yelling something and he gets spooked and cuts camera?
Apparently it's a "to be continued" and involves escape by dirtbike.
Sounds like someone said "excuse me" right when it cut off.
It is a person saying excuse me. But I wonder what happens afterwards.
Man, this is like gold for anyone who is a fan of animatronics or the the history of the parks.
For anyone who might be unaware when the ride first opened the yeti which was the largest and most complex Disney animatronic at the time operated in "A-mode" where it would swing and lunge at the riders. After a few months the framing split and would only worsen with continued use of "A-mode" so they now use "B-mode" in which a strobe light is used to suggest movement (and earning it the name "Disco Yeti" by fans)
There has been no public disclosure of what caused the splitting but its been theorized (and partially confirmed by Joe Rohde, the Imagineer responsible for the ride) that a more permanent solution would require the 40+ foot structure the yeti rests on be removed which would require at least a portion of mountain be opened up as the mountain was built around it
I was expecting Colonel Sanders to pop up in this area...
"I ought to have know not to let 'ya drive..."
I was literally on edge the entire video. Seeing it up close like that just adds another level to the creep factor.
Anyone else come here from tiktok!
My paranoid ass would have flinched at the yeti thinking it moved 😂
Cmon bro! Love your vids but take a break from theme parks! You got your Patreon suspended and the cops are looking for you! Try going somewhere you won’t get in so much heat!
How do you envision this ending, Disney has to have meetings about you. I’m gonna become a patreon so you have bail money.
His Patreon is under review. You can't give him shit on it...lol
While you were there you should clean the fur of the yeti and sweep the tracks
If only you could sneak into the Dino land dinosaur ride and get close ups of the Dino’s in that ride:b
At 3:00 when he heard voices 😳
imagine if the yeti just automatically turned on for no reason.
I know it's been shut off for a long time now but I'm just saying.
I thought it’s used for the part where you see his shadow when the cart stops in the cave?
@@meatybiel72 nope thats only a projection the yeti comes at the end of the ride
Imagine if that thing started moving while you were climbing on the rock
This is awesome you should try to sneak into the E.T ride at Universal
the software used to design the structure and foundation had a bug that was only realized after all the work was finished
This man is absolutely fearless.
U should try to explore the backstage parts of the ride like the entire building
Imagine if we went to Stitch's great escape.
