    These are so simple but always so amazing to see.
    I did 3 anamorphic illusions. Rubiks cube, a roll of tape and a shoe. Which one is your favorite? I like the shoe the best.
    Oh and lets not for the kitty cat. Hyder thought she was anamorphic for a bit there.
    I've included the images in this video for you to download and try yourself. Print them on 8.5 X 14. Cut the paper any way you'd like to add more of an effect.

      I always saw the one on the right as orange which would make sense since blue would be beside that as shown in the picture if it were an actual cube and followed modern colour scheme

    The weird thing is that the length of the cube, from top to bottom, is different when it is upside down. I measured it.
    I thought that it should have been the same regardless of wether it was up or turned upside down, and that it would just give the illusion of being longer or shorter. But it really does change actual lengths.
    How does it do that?
    I'm measuring the distance from the visual top corner to the furthest bottom corner of the cube. Then pausing the video while its being turned, when it reaches 180 degrees. Then measuring the same corners again.

    • @EdgeRetro
      @EdgeRetro 9 років тому +1

      I think what's going on there is that he moves it a bit closer to the camera when it's in the 180 degree position. Note the distance from the front edge of the table to the edge of the paper.
      In the 90 / 270 position it is also notably longer - this is because we're not looking at it from directly from above, the angle of the table plane to the lens of the camera makes the cube squares appear more square as it approaches 0 or 180 degrees.
      I like how in the 180 deg position has a sort of Escher-like quality of almost looking like an inverted cube hanging in space.

    • @GDJolem
      @GDJolem 5 років тому

      If it was not shorter from below then when it will be shooted, the bottom of cube will expand and it will look normal from upper side of cube but the lower side will be stretched, that is why they made it with a small sized bottom, so it will be balanced and will be flawless....

    A little deceiving. When it first pans in on the desk, those are actually real items. Like the blue tape, you can see the wall and desk through the entire middle, but later the picture of it, there is only a small part at the top cut out inside the roll of blue tape. The rest is the white paper as a white background, which wasn't there at the 0:5 to 0:10 second pan. So at :10 seconds those are real objects. Then later they are fake paper objects, still cool but not the objects you saw in the beginning.
    Also if you look the wall it is behind them in the 5 to 10 second pan, how is the wall behind them if they are actually flat pieces of paper lying flat on the desk. They couldn't hind any part of the wall at all if that is the case.

      Its an illusion so its meant to be deceiving. The cube scrabble was different from real to fake and noticeable to some.
      How about this version with the real cube scrambled exactly the same as the print. It is certainly meant to deceive the viewer into thinking they are still looking at a real cube: ua-cam.com/video/-BHfsPC1pSY/v-deo.html
      Its not nearly as good as the original by brusspup but the deception of the real cube is enough to throw most people off still.

      It is really more like deliberately making a "disproportioned" drawing of something so when viewed from a specific angle far away it "shrinks" giving the illusion of a 3-D object. There are simple rules to follow such as "The higher you want and object to 'stand' the long the drawing has to be"..
      Cubes are the easiest to start with- but it get more complex with other drawings such as shoes, etc. Its not that hard once you get the hang of it- this person however is amazing- but remember its easier to show off with a camera. Physically standing there it becomes easier to tell its a drawing

    • @TheLG507
      @TheLG507 9 років тому +5

      Yeah I think the establishing shot of the objects on the table shows the actual 3D objects that the paper illusions are based off of. This theory's kind of supported later on at 1:09 when the shoe illusion appears, you can see the roll of tape and the cube in the background are OFF the pieces of paper and project reflections. Again, I'm not saying that the illusions were faked, I'm just saying the video maker included the real 3D objects along with the 2D images just to confuse the audience more.

    The initial clips of the set up ( 0:07 ) are actually of the real objects, as you can see they are blocking portions of the wall behind, so the object must be 3D, not a 2D illusion. However for the examples ( 0:31 & 0:56 & 1:13 ) they are illusions using only a piece of paper with a picture of the object printed in a specific way. So technically it isn't fake...

    This is really cool. He printed these out and cut them. Then, before he started recording, he looked through the camera to find out what we saw. He turned the paper accordingly to adjust it. In answer to some your questions, there is a way to print these under the video description, as mentioned in the video. This is not fakery and these designs are so realistic. I guess they had to be to fool some of you. Overall, a great video.

    If you print out the images with the links they provide, you can do this yourself. It does not work with the naked eye. It only works through the lens of a camera. It tried it. It works just like in the video.

    The reason for this is that as 3 dimensional beings, we view things in 2 dimensions. The only way we can tell that things are 3 dimensional is by the depth of the object, but we still view them in 2 dimensions since we cannot see all three dimensions of that object. The shading and elongation of these object tricks our minds into thinking the object has depth and it would make no difference because we see things in 2 dimensions

    It's not fake, guys. What she did, is cut out a picture of the object, stuck it on, cut out the white parts of the non coloured paper, and moved it around! xxx

    good spot. I think for the first pan in they used real objects to help set the scene and better create the illusion for when they showed the closeup of each flat image

    So in the first part, the items are actually sitting on the paper (and not illusions?) I can see a reflection cast on the table that would be impossible on a flat image. Also, I did notice that during the videos, some of the items are seen at other angles...
    The difference between the original items and the images are almost indistinguishable.

    There are reflections ONLY in the beginning of the video where the person shows the real objects. There are no more reflections after that. And for the shadows, they are printed on the paper itself. That means that it's just a picture of a shadow. It looks convincing though because the angle of the shadow matches the angle of the light source. That is, until you turn the paper.

    I finally figured the rubix cube out. It's the angle that the camera is set at. If the camera was moved higher then it would spoil the illusion.

    The 'shadows' move with the paper regardless of the difference in light. Means it isn't a shadow but drawn in to give the illusion of a 3d objects. If you couldnt see any shadows or difference in shade your eyes wouldn't believe it as well.

  • @Dragonelis
    @Dragonelis 11 років тому

    Yeah, in the beginning the real objects are shown. After that, the objects that are being touched are made out of paper. At 1:16 you can see a tiny spike of paper in the corner between shoe and paper.
