  • A simple vintage detail can become the focus of an entire garment, like this ladder lace insertion on a tiered dress. The subtle lace between each tier completely transforms how this dress looks and wears. Add this vintage detail to your dresses and tops!
In this video, Sarai shows you how she made the Madhu top into a tiered dress.

Beautiful dress. Wish you had demonstrated sewing a gathered edge to the ladder lace while discussing the techniques and tips for that. Love your channel.

Yep, it would have been more useful as gathered edge must be harder to get a nice job than a straight edge.

This is what I'm subscribed to this channel for! I feel like so many sewing channels cater so much to beginners, or are for really advanced sewists. This channel provides exactly the type of cool new skills to learn that I can add to projects to improve my skills, but it's not so difficult that it feels impossible.

Bernina has an edge stitch foot that encloses the edge.

Thank you for this tutorial! I want to use ladder insertion laser with a viscose challis. Do you think the whip stitch will be secure enough to stop any fraying?

It's hard to say without seeing the fabric. I would definitely do a test on a scrap piece first!

I think you can make this work without having a specialized foot. Certainly makes it easier but not to get discouraged.

You are right! The edgestitch foot makes this much easier to do, but you can definitely still achieve this without it.
